I agree with porkboi, NSU has been playing this for a while along with other songs like Camino Real. TnSU has also been playing Maleguena as a fanfare for a while as well. Good job!!! *thumbs up*
Ahhh, gang...different formats, different styles, both unique and great on their own. I don't knock DCI for perfecting one show a year, don't knock HBCU bands like FAMU for their brand of highstepping entertainment. Both do their thing very well, and can coexist.
@MrOu83 they didnt do a drill to this song. every for the Florida classic BOTB they would pull something like this out to prove to their rival band which is Bethune Cookman University that they hav skill. also this is the same version DCI plays but the percussion part is different and the only difference is that they are playing it slower.
and its not meant for your regular halftime shows at football games. And i was joking about the loud part they have different styles of musicianship. And plus it takes much talent to march in a corps desired style of marching.
@AnthonyJKenn Right on. . .tell em. Key phrase. . ."perfecting one show a year", Shit if HBCUs like FAM worked on just one show, DCIs wouldn't stand a chance.
To all of you that are trying to compare DCI and university bands, there is no comparison!!!! Both are totally different from eachother. I've played in both thats how I know there is no comparison!!!! I'll take DCI ( old school DCI that is) over university bands any day for one reason, DCI is competition, university band is exhibition!!!! So see you just cant compare!!!!
@treattep not true, NSU has been playing and finessing spanish marches and the like for the longest. Not to discredit FAMU of course because they sound phenomenal...
@hebrewhammershabbat They also don't play 50-100 tunes memorized etc like FAMU. Why is it so hard for folks to give credit....FAMU is a phenominal program and one of hte best collegiate marching band programs of all time.
@KauaiBallerof2012 No. . .it takes much discipline, especially when most DCI members are perfecting shows in 90 degree heat, depending on where you're based out of. The same talent is in marching bands. . .lol, who do you think DCI members are comprised of?
eh... i like band :D haha why try to compare at all even? its like apples and oranges. and it's all personal opinion in the end so why argue over who's opinion is more valid? just enjoy the amazing music :)
Played Kind of Slow, Not a lot of movement in the Notes, Very clean though, the percussion part could have been writing a lot better, no real dynamics. But Understanding the show style format, I would say that they did damn good Job!!!!!!!
@hohan195 You mean no drum majors jumping around like idiots, bad tone quality, and little to no complexity in drill?? Yeah, DCI doesn't have that stuff.
@lij2015 but in all honesty, which is more entertaining?people would rather watch a dance routine and to enjoy songs that they know..and moving your hips"a little?"are you kidding me?and "flinging your leg"is harder than power walkin.DCI's are boring to watch, and boreing to listen to.id rather hear songs that i know and enjoy them then listening to some lame ass d.c.i. drumline warm up,or space chords.(just to use those for an example)..stick with your power walkin and "dipping" out loud
I don't know if they're actually doing a drill to this song? Anyhow, in my humble opinion, the Michigan Marching Band does a better job than FAMU on this song. They actually perform thir s while doing a drill. I beieve their version is also faster. FAMU seems to being playing rather cautiously. And, Yes, the Madison Scouts do a phenomenal job on this song. Way better than FAMU.
