Yeah I have a colorful vocabulary especially when I talk to myself when no one is around.

@@curtrobinsongarage5452 What is amazing is that people caused an accident & damage, was forced to help during the repair, buy sandpaper, fetch supplies, buy tape, paper, plastic & guide coat and sweat! Then they are required to go to PPG and pay for the epoxy, primer, color base & clear ($1,890) and then stay up during a 7 hr sanding, cleaning, taping, tach & blow, wax & grease, cost of PPS 2.0 cups (600ml), Sata, filters, spray base, flash, repeat, wait then clear, wait, (7.3 hrs later) then wet sand to cut & buff, compound, polish, detail and return to the customer they hit after responding to a text message from a gal (Jennifer) he met the night before, crossed lanes or didn’t stop in time….and loose their wages for that week! They would not do that again! But, they say you can’t fix stupid.

Thanks for the positive feedback. I can say this will be my last paint job with PPG, and it is only because I cannot afford to do it again. If I had known about the total cost of all the product in the end I would have gone with what I used in the past. I don’t have a single complaint about PPG except the cost. It is easy to work with and sprays as easily as other I have used. To be honest I thought I would have hit 1000 subs by now, but it hasn’t happened. The videos will continue however. With winter approaching soon I will be able to focus more in the shop.

@@curtrobinsongarage5452 Well Curt I can't figure out where PPG got the price sheet unless the package said Fort Knox, KN. I get nervous about retail pricing when the store is located in an expensive lease area, granite countertops tops and a couple of employees who need $60k with benefits. Then a building somewhere with 170 engineers who need paid, but I agree. Researching the new chemistry is what led me to your channel. I am looking Matrix as Count's Kustoms in Vegas as their painter "Ryan" won the "SEMA - Maverick" award. He uses Matrix. Pete Hughes at SWRNC diy auto school uses "Shop Line" a product sold be PPG platinum dealers only. He started using UPOL which some like, others like Travis Sylvester said have gone down in quality in certain ways. But I can't bring myself to to purchase Axalta-Nason as they sell this at O'REILLYS auto parts. Your truck turned out extremely nice even with a skeeter or dust in the clear. They sell a finishing or short-stroke DA (5/16" orbital action) to be used with an interface pad and hook & loop paper. Some call it a drop coat and other call it a double clear. But they spray 3 wet on wet coats, let cure for week, start with a 1k grit, 2k grit, W&G then spray 2 coats of clear. In many cases, no cut and buff. I am just doing an old 67 C10 for my main get around vehicle. I will keep watching and stay safe at the shop! Depending on where you live, but I couldn't work next to a guy who uses pot on the weekend and comes to work putting a vehicle on the rack next to me. Curt, have a good one as I never got 25% of flat rate. Seems like I was cheated! Even though Raytheon had 56 guy nationwide to work for Delco, they paid your salary based upon where you live, even though almost all had no ASE certification then the asked for L1 & P2. Pass both and missed one L1 question. Only 6 had it!

Thanks, and yes it is so much so that it took me until the last minute to cut out the slot for a modern radio. I was really surprised it hadn’t been cut yet. I did have to weld up a few holes where the previous owner had mounted an XM radio controller though.

Honestly there is nothing wrong with single stage paints for solid colors like black, red, yellow. That is what Boyd Coddington preferred on many of his high end builds for customers. Base/clear is just the industry standard today. Tomorrow it may become something else. Bottom line is if you are happy with the results and it works for you then that’s the most important thing. Use what works and your comfortable with.

On the inside with gun metal gray

On this project I’m using PPG that includes the DP90LF epoxy base, high build primer and the Base/clear. I will probably not use it on any future projects due to the cost, it is very expensive. I have used Martin Senour in the past and it works well too, but is less expensive. In the future I don’t know what I will use but I’m reality there are a lot of good products out there, as long as you use a premium product and use the same product for everything and don’t mix and match you should be good to go.
