You are wise. I'm a Chrysler engine development engineer of over 32 years experience and a friend and mentee (is that a word) I trained actually did the development of the Hellcat engine. We always use a controller run-in for the engines before we test them (we don't use the words break in for now obvious reasons). 500 miles at average road speed is bearly 12.5 hours, our run-in procedure is to put at least 20 hours on the engine before our first full throttle run and then we continue the run-in performing another full throttle run about every two hours until friction has stabilized. This is to slowly wear down the rough spots (asperity) until the parts mate properly and don't grab when they get hot and grow (remembering that aluminum pistons get hotter and grow faster than the cast iron bore. Well I hope you enjoy your Hellcat and I look forward to seeing your track results, and oh by the way thanks for paying my pension.

That makes sense..thanks for explaining and giving me a little detail about it. I always thought to myself, there is a reason why it states x amount of miles before full throttle. Some skip that step, but even when you build a new engine or rebuild. The break-in is followed for that exact same reason. I suppose some owners don't see it that way. I'm excited to put this car through it's paces at that track and drag. Glad I could have helped in some small way. Cheers!

Hey Doris, Im a service technician for Chrysler and an important tip is that when you do your oil changes on the Hellcat, you need to drain oil from the oil cooler valve plug underneath the car.

I skipped that step with this oil change. I took care of that the first time at 500mls and will drain my oil again in 500 miles. so I'll take care of it then as I will be using a different brand oil this time around.

I finally got a chance to get to AZ all day. I went up to visit a buddy of mine who just moved out there and he owns a redeye....I took my hellcat. I think we were doing pulls up and down a road called "West Cactus Road" in Surprise all day. AZ is such a perfect place to run big HP cars. Nice long stretches of road not heavy with traffic the same way California is. It was a great time!!!! I also loved the whether! I see now why people like AZ so much. It's a hidden gem for car-enthusiast. Now I'm seriously looking at houses there, lol. Looking forward to more videos on your Hellcat. Glad you enjoyed it.

Nice! How did you like it out here? West cactus road stretches a bit. I have a road like that near me ;). Weather is good for 8 months.. I love it. There is a lot of clean empty roads. I drive around at times to just fine them.. mainly for pictures. More videos to come.

@@woman.driven....I loved it. Not too many street lights, the atmosphere was very calm, people didn't seem in a rush to be anywhere, very different from San Diego! Place is cleaner than I expected it to be, that was nice. Only thing that got me was I made a random stop on the side of the road just to admire the view, I opened my door, put my foot down and two-feet from me was a scorpion just chilling until it turned towards me....MAAAAAAAN I put my foot back in the car, closed the door, and screeched away from that place. Went another mile down before I stopped again...lol. I will definitely make another trip there before the new year comes. I want to check out more houses. I did see what you were talking about with those big RV garages....those things are BIG. I saw them like every other house.

Love love love it! All these muscle cars that keep raising the bar are re-awakening the car guy in me. I've been out of it for years. I like the practicality of my Kia Optima buuut I really need a v8 again. Lol
