Introducing a new series called Fueling For Dirty Kanza, where I'll be documenting my training and nutrition strategy for the 2020 Dirty Kanza 200 mile gravel bike race from the perspective a sports nutritionist. In this first episode, I introduce the idea and share what I've been doing for training this winter living in a ski town.

Missed these videos!! Can't wait for these series, I've also taken up for cross training, in the form of swimming and running. I'm longing for the mountains though! Eat plants and take epic dumps!

This was a great video! I just did a similar skimo workout yesterday, so very fitting! I think it’s cool you’re not only going the podcast route to share your DK preparation but also doing these videos. By the way, your last pod episode about food was AMAZING. Your perspective on pretty much all you talked about resonates so much with me, I think we see it pretty much the same way. What struck me the most was your comment about having kids... I feel the same. I don’t want to have any if the world they will grow up in is going to be much worse than what I had the privilege to experience when I was a kid. It’s a really difficult conversation so thank you so much for bringing it up. Anyway, keep it up, looking forward to learning more about your training journey!

200 miles holy cow! Good for you man. That uphill skiing seems like great cross training, looking forward to following this series! I'm interested to hear your thoughts on creatine. I'm a ~5 year plant based guy finally trying to eat a bunch of food + lift weights and figured I would give 5g (standard dose) of creatine per day a try. My weight has shot up a couple pounds this week which I assume is water weight. I'm curious how my body will react to creatine considering I don't get any from dietary sources like omni's do.

Yeah lots of good data on creatine. evidence definitely supports benefit for resistance and high intensity exercise adaptations and effects likely more pronounced in vegans since we don't get extra exogenous sources. here's a pretty good position paper on the available research if you're interested: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5469049/
