Its actually insane that the same dude who got yelled at came back. Its probably the Happy connection (cant spell his name) but I thought he was an extra. Like imagine getting a call like “remember getting yelled at by Jeff Bridges? We want you back for that”.
I’m subbed to both Cosmonaut Variety hour and Hitop Films so I couldn’t stop laughing when a video titled “Far From Home Broke me” was put next to “Guys, Far From Home was so good” in my recommended
The movie gave me everything I ever wanted with Mysterio: Deception and illusion. Jake had an amazing performance, the first Mysterio illusion fight was perfect, and the way they introduced him was great. I'm also very happy with how they took the character.
I was honestly imagining that they will give Mysterio a Mandarin treatment and he will actually be some kind of magical alien/outworlder. Bet they went with classic Mysterio and I'm pretty happy with that.
@@shmekelfreckles8157 i did not think it was very good that his motivation is for Tony Stark, it's like the fifth villain who is bad because he hates Tony Stark
I don’t see why that should ever happen, considering Tony’s nature with people it isn’t surprising(especially when he was making weapons of mass destruction)some Villains originate due to his actions or due to just their own personalities.
This is a year old comment but i just gotta let you know. The reason that Peter didn’t register aunt may’s “attack” is very comic accurate. In the comics, there are certain people that do not set off Peter’s spider sense such as Aunt May, Venom, and MJ since they have a deeper connection with Peter.
wait i thought all symbiotes which are spawns of venom dont set off his spider sense because yk venom basically adapted to not set off his spider sense when he merged with peter
If you were to even take a deeper take on it too, I also believe that his spidey sense isn't working because that is how he found out he was dying when the snap occured. It was from a comment I saw on another one, I thought it was exponential to actually realize haha
Some Guy Paragon JJJ is the real interdimensional warrior here. Fighting the good fight to have that wall crawling arachnid prosecuted even in a an alternate universe.

@@landanross2966 While Brian Cranston would certainly be able to pull off the acting part, He just doesn't look like JJJ as much as JK Simmons does - It just seems like JK was born for this role, the voice, his charisma (as in vibes), his face - it just fits.
during the final scene of the real movie with them just zipping around NY a little voice in the back of my head started going 'hey what if they put JK Simmons in this wouldn't that be great' and I refused to believe myself but here we are
Tammo Pordzik he fits in the Sam Raimi movies with over the top comic style and dodgy dialogue, I’m not sure if he would fit in the MCU, but we can wait and see.
bman wgd i get it. Once Batman figured out they’re mothers had the same name he remembered his childhood love of pokemon and that put his mind off of fighting and put him in a better mood. It’s a shame people dont see the depth of that movie.
Ive seen a lot of people complain about the CGI with the elementals being dodgy, but its kinda like they didnt pay attention and realize that mysterio is literally using CGI to make them 🙄
@Michael Outten Jr. yeah true, I love Far from home with such passion, but some points Hitops says is NOT true, like he does not have any relatable consequences, and then some maguire fanboys go suck on his side, without forming their own opinion
I've been searching for a way to watch that scene again, proper reminded me of spiderman 2 game when you fight all your reflections, was hoping there would have been more sequences
Hi-Top Films: “The blip would never be made fun of.” Cosmonaut: *remembers what it’s like to be a teenager* It’s even worse when you realize Hi-Top is younger.
Gabe Villarreal I was thinking that too. If the world had almost ended, knowing how kids are, They would certainly meme about the world almost ending once everyone came back.
If the snap happened nowadays, people would meme *the fuck* out of it. I'm pretty sure if a meteor was a bout to hit the earth, people would be making memes about it (stuff like "I can't wait to fuel some weird-ass creature's car one day")
Homecoming is garbage. Case closed. I have no investment in watching a half-baked superhero film that rides the coattails of a far better superhero with a better MCU backstory: Iron Man. The real Spider-Man is Tobey Maguire's portrayal, and it's not even close.
Luke Poe meh, the Raimi movies will always be the first and best Spider-Man movies I ever saw, but I wouldn’t call “Homecoming” garbage. It’s a good superhero movie, but it’s not a good Spider-Man movie. I can’t argue much with Hi-Tops on his reasoning because he’s mostly right, but discounting even the good qualities of Homecoming is a disservice to it.
Gabe Villarreal Don’t listen to him. He’s commenting on every comment thread that simply praises this film by bashing them with idiotic statements such as the one you’re replying to. And FFH definitely is an improvement.
The spider sense thing actually makes sense, Peter didn't dodge the banana because his spider sense doesn't see May as a menace, she doesn't know how it works so she assumes it's not working and that's what she tells Happy
Exactly! It should also be known that When Peter was fighting Mysterio for the time, he let his fear get the better of him. His personal fears and problems I. Regards to his life and the loss of Tony were also what completely tuned him out from his Spider sense, letting Mysterio's illusion devastate him! It was soul crushing to watch that scene.
@@danielramsey6141 Also, before the first Mysterio villain appearence, Peter's spider sense goes off with the signature sound and he says "Beck is here" or something along those lines
But his spidersense doesn't really work tho. They even say it in the movie that sometimes it does(like in civil war or in the beginning of infinity war) and sometimes it doesn't (in homecoming when shocker caught peter off guard and buched him into the buses). He has spidersenseitile dysfunction.
@@davidj3841 to be fair, in the comics, that happens to. It happens when Peter's mind is preoccupied or he just isn't paying enough attention to his spider sense. That's why he's so often blind sighted in these movies, because if he's not actively in a fight at the time, he might not be paying enough attention to his spidey sense to react in time.
There was a highlighted comment that said to sort by new if you’re lacking your daily does of salt and it did not disappoint haha. 2023 update: my god I’m at the point where people still adding new negative comments have to be ai. Like there’s no way people are this pressed still.
Actually i would like to argue with that assessment as Mysterio felt more or a Stark Villain. I get what you try to mean he sympathised a lot with Peter but the point being the only reason he chased after Peter was because of Stark. Anyways i still think that the villain problem is getting better
So villain pretends to have superpowers and create threat with robots so he could save the day and people would praise he as hero. Finally we got Syndrome from the Incredibles into the MCU :D
The Spider-Sense "not working" is a a nod to an unknown tid-bit; Peter's Sense doesn't work against people he trusts. It warns him of danger, but the weakness is if he trusts a person, he never feels "in danger" with them. Hence why May can hit him with the banana and... well... the rest of the movie.
The problem with that is the movie makes it a joke because it takes more than a day or two for the spider-sense to trust someone the thing about Spider-Man is that his powers don’t always work when he says so they have a mind of their own it’s like he’s sharing a body with the spider the spider’s one job is to “Protect Peter” the fact that his spider-sense never went off once whenever Mysterio or the elementals were around is a problem his spider-sense is not something you hone in on and people in the comments like “spider sense has never been accurate” that’s bs any real spider man fan knows that it’s not spider sense that’s the problem it’s Peter’s senses as he can never find out where the danger is coming from fast enough in the comics Spider-Senses job is to warn you that something is wrong it’s your job to figure out where the danger is coming from and MOVE which is why spiders have multiple eyes Point being I did not agree with the way the movie made everything even Spider-Man basics 101 into a fucking joke it was disrespectful Sony
Leoncroi That was only in the 60s. They have a completely different explanation for how the spider sense works in modern comics. It's actual precognition that warns of of future dangers. That's just a plot hole from the past that hasn't been officially retconned yet. And no, that's not how it works in the MCU either. It was a freaking banana that was thrown at him (meaning but wasn't a threat to anyone at all), he was extremely distracted and stressed out, and his spider sense has been extremely spotty to begin with prior to the Peter Tingle scene.
GamerThief XP For someone that claims to be familiar in the comics, you sure seem to not know much about the character. The spider sense provides a warning of the danger, where the danger is coming from, how intense the danger is, and a general idea of how to avoid it. It just doesn't always work because it's such a broken power that writers don't know how to consistently portray it, so they just have it as a plot device most of the time and have him get hit for no reason.
Djrocks Gaming that’s not the spider sense at all the spider sense is the ACTUAL spider sense that spiders have what are you talking about?? Stan Lee got the idea from SPIDERS after he decided to make the character Spider-Man they went through tons of research for spiders using what would work and changing what wouldn’t. Spider sense WARNS YOU of danger nearby no matter how big or small that’s a fact it’s even shown in comics where peter would “abnormally” dodge or grab something as small and dangerous-less as a fly because it was too close. When peter gets hit it’s not because writers don’t know how to work the spider sense it’s because Peter is not quick enough to find out WHERE ITS COMING FROM! It’s just like a literal spider sir if they can’t find you quick enough SMASH! Game over! Dead! That’s why they have multiple eyes! Plus their arms which can feel the vibrations and help pinpoint where danger is coming from! But peter only has 2 eyes and 2 arms along with one human body THATS WHY HE GETS HIT! Bro what are you reading!? It’s been this way in every single iteration of the character! He’s 15-16 or whatever so his own senses aren’t fast enough which is why when he gets older that’s what we call an EXPERIENCED SPIDER MAN because by that point he’s used to his own BODY and the added SPIDER DNA he’s got more control and whenever adult peter gets hit it’s because of his own head not being in the game. Now let’s look at venom a product of Eddie Brock someone peter Parker knew and the symbiote something that was literally BONDED to Peter and by Default the Spider DNA that’s why venom is immune to the spider sense because Venom is literally a piece of Peter Parker. Now they tried to do that here but it doesn’t work because Mysterio shares no dna towards peter and Peter knew him for legit 2 seconds the spider sense should’ve went off as soon as they met XD
GamerThief XP Spiders don't have an actual spider sense. That's just some pseudoscience nonsense. Stan Lee was never someone that had a basic understanding of science back when he wrote comics. That's why Daredevil was able to pick up radio waves and understand them with his enhanced senses despite ow nonsensical that was. It's clear that you've only read the 60s comics. Everything has changed about his powers since then. They aren't even science-based; they're magical. His powers were gifted to him by an extra-dimensional deity of some kind called the Master Weaver. They've made it explicit that he knows where it comes from. He just doesn't immediately know what exactly the danger is. And he has a reaction time that allows him to move fast than the human eye can even register. He webbed up the barrel of a gun after the trigger was pulled but before the bullet was fired. His reaction time is way too fast for him to have trouble figuring out where something is comic from. It's just plot holes. You can easily search up the spider sense right now. It's precog, not just acute awareness. You clearly don't know shit about spiders. Their eyes are pretty much useless. Most are just able to feel vibrations through the ground or their webs, but they only work for a short distance. The spider sense is way beyond anything that's biologically possible. It's why he's able to dodge multiple lasers at the same time and other linear SOL and FTL attacks. Mysterio did set off his spider sense whenever he attacked. Even when Mysterio wasn't attacking, his spider snake was set off when Beck asked who else knew. That venom thing is also from before the spider sense was mystical. You clearly have never read any of the modern comics. Search up the Web of Life and Destiny and then come back to me.
I agree with the Peter-MJ relationship thing - it's really cute and you want them to be together. Also it's not the classical "male protagonist wants to gain the attention of a girl who is super confident and popular", instead MJ is also really awkward when it comes to being close to Peter, and it's so fucking lovely.
MJ is a character who is socially awkward, aloof and sardonic. That girl's got dark and twisty internal and external emotional problems and has an unhealthy fascination with death. She's a catch and release love interest. I hope they turn her into a supervillain because she has the right level of crazy. 😅💀

I feel like people are missing the point. MCU Spider-Man isn’t about the life of a struggling college kid who has to balance his life of being a super hero and life, he’s a kid. MCU Spider-Man is about independence and separation from Iron Man, he’s a kid, he wants freedom, just like when you were a kid.
My audience wasn't like that. I hate it. I live in France and most people are casual viewers of the MCU. I was the only one who yelled and gasped and laughed during the movie.
Zenron He REALLY needs to come back. I want to see him use the illusions to defeat all of the other avengers by forcing them to fight each other and Spider-Man has to save them since he's the only one that can see through the illusions.
I liked the part when he was falling through the darkness. It looked like it was taken straight from a scene from the PS4 spiderman game and I loved it. I saw it as a callout to that game

ABSIN you know after all that illusion mind fuckery, when Happy came for Peter to the flower field and Pete finally realized that happy was not an illusion i got emotional. He’s a kid, whose mind was just viciously raped, then he got hit by the train, woke up in a completely allien (for him) country, away from all his friends and family. I could only imagine how much of a relief it would be for him to finally meet someone he knows and just talk to him
Also, it’s because most of the movie he looked up to Mysterio, so it would have felt weird for him to make jokes about his outfit, and the other times with Mysterio are more serious and emotionally painful for Peter. Could have made for a hilariously awkward icebreaker at the beginning though.
I absolutely love the scene at the end where Peter says “you can’t trick me anymore”. It’s absolutely the turning point where Peter doesn’t need to be the next Iron Man, he’s his own, and he realizes that he needs to trust himself. This is especially shown when he defeats the last of the drones by closing his eyes and then going to work. I just love this movie, great character arc for every big character in the movie.
@@JimboPro Maybe as a movie, but as a Spider-Man movie, FFH is way better. There’s actual big boy problems that Peter has to face in this movie, not just the Friendly-Neighborhood conflicts that he had to resolve in Homecoming. This is a Spider-Man story.
5:24 Is it bad ADR? Or is it Mysterio's flawed holograms? You see an error, I see foreshadowing. EDIT: Regarding why the Spidey-sense doesn't work around a lot of people -- it doesn't work with people Peter trusts. Trust, and the loss of it, is an enormous theme in the film. You can see that his Spidey-sense doesn't work when it's near Mysterio because he still *trusts* Mysterio. He knows the man's a fraud, but he still remembers the Vulture. He remembers Mysterio for the role he played for him, and not for who he really was. And that costs him. It's not until he learns to NOT trust Mysterio, and it's not until he stops being gullible, that his Spidey-sense kicks into high gear. It still doesn't work with Aunt May, as we can see in the film. But we're probably going to see more of the Spidey-sense thing in the future.
Feckin dope. Loved the entire illusion scene. And JK Simmons. Best Spider-Man movie of them all. Happy, fun, and colorful, but not afraid to push darker tones without it feeling forced.
That scene was horrifying, imagine being Peter seeing your father figure/idol who you saw die just a couple months ago and still struggling to come to terms with it just crawl out of a grave with rotting skull visible
Mysterio in ffh stayed true to the comics, and his suit stayed true to the comics, and still had a bit of mcu flair put into it! Frickin love the chest plate and cape design
@CARPAINTM3MES Uh, what are you talking about? The core characteristic of Mysterio being salty about his rejection is still there. Plus, his speech to his crew is definitely an allegory for non-superhero filmmakers. _"You can be the smartest guy in the room.... and no one will care for you unless you have a cape."_
@CPM3 [Grullz] umm u do realize that his core values are still the same, mysterio in the MCU is still a “visual effects” master mind, his costume is pretty much comic accurate. The only thing they did with his story was make it modernized (a lot of the mcu characters backstories were changed to fit the aesthetic of the mcu)😗

I do agree, but I also think comparing the two does them an injustice; spiderverse is a love letter to the character and more artistically inclined(hence the animation style) Thot Destroyer , whereas far from home is some of that and more of another movie in a multifilm spanning comic book-esque narrative (a quite thrilling continuation I say)
Suprised you didn't talk about Spidey taking responsibility in this movie. His actions have consequences. You feel the weight of his actions. He talks to MJ about being Spider Man, the villian attacks them. He's given high tech glasses that he doesn't know how to use, he nearly kills someone. He kills Mysterio, his secret identity is revealed to everyone.

Steve took issue with their existence even before the Hydra reveal. Tony invented something with the same pretense. Not only that, he left it to a 16 year old. Not only THAT, he left it to a 16 year old that he already knew was dead. Peter died in Tony's arms, and only came back right before Tony's death. Vulture has been doing his own thing he could care less about Peter. Until Peter decided to interfere with his work so vulture has to fight him. Mysterio wasnt going to hurt Peter until MJ and Peter figured him out. So he had no choice but to turn on him. Sounds like he got himself into these situations if you ask me.
Yeah, and to add onto that I'm pretty sure the only reasons he couldn't detect the banana is because it wasnt a threat. Spidey Sense only detects threats, so obviously something silly like that isnt a threat. However, throughout the MCU Spiderman's Spidey Sense has been somewhat hit or miss, and not focused on, so I saw this movie as a way of showing Spiderman really get the hang of it and really display it as a main part of his moveset.
I thought it was pretty evident that the spidey sense wasn't working. The entire time Mysterio's illusion shenanigans occur, Peter can't keep up because of his lack of spidey sense; he can only rely on what he can see, while the spidey sense's actual purpose in the story is for Peter to be able to rely on his instincts and fight what he is unable to see. That's why Peter gets hit by a train and doesn't sense the giant mass of danger heading straight for him.

Vulture from Homecoming is nothing like the comics version. Neither is Doctor Octopus and Sandman in the Raimi films. Mysterio is an effects designer with a big ego and a god complex. So he's a good translation.
He is NOT Iron Man jr, but I guess the fact that he is in an established universe where advanced tech exists and we are living in an era where we can make stuff with a 3D printer doesn't count.
I actually don't mind it now. I think it's the fact that Peter is the one designing it and doing it his own way is what makes it SO much better. Sure he's using Tony's tech, but does it really matter? In the ps4 game he was using ottos lab to help build his suit, so it's totally fine in this movie.
