Do we all agree that Willem Dafoe went absolutely outrageously hard in his reprised role as Green Goblin? 20 years later he still sends chills down my spine
I really wanted a scene where he makes Peter choose, “let die the woman you love, or suffer the little children.” 🤣 out of all the lines he could have said again, they only went with the scientist line.
Andrew was absolutely incredible in this movie. The scene where he catches MJ, you can feel his pain. You can say he’s amazing or something. Such a good movie.
"Helping the villains" instead of just a generic, "this guys are the bad guys so spiderman has to fight them" is honestly such a great direction to take it.
What I like especially is that the movie doesn't involve any of the villains offing themselves in a guilt-free way like the Raimi movies are notorious for. Either Peter tries to save them, or full on tries to fucking kill them like with Green Goblin. None of this consequence-free shit
The older Spiderman movies did it too. That was what Tobey's Spidey was all about - forgiving the Sandman, recruiting Doc Ock's help to dismantle the machine, resolving differences with Harry Green Goblin Jr. Osborne, etc. It's quintessential to who Spiderman is.
I felt like Tom Holland's Spider-man has finally grown up. The ending's sad, but also truly essential to his character to finally owned up to his responsibilities with no support. I teared up a bunch from pure joy & the bittersweetness. Now realizing that Peter's story has truly been about growing up and making choices you don't necessary want to, but must.
I really do love Spider-Man but it’s so sad to me that he’s this Amazing beacon of support and kindness, never has anyone to support him. It’s depressing, yet inspiring that he keeps pushing on.
@@ZeDitto3 Yes, but that's also why he won the hearts of fans all over the world. I think when you grow up, at some point you realized no matter how many people are there for you, you still have to make your own choices. Which really sucks, but also part of growing pain.
The best part is that Andrew and Tobey aren’t just there for bait, they have an actual role despite appearing near the end. And their chemistry…. It’s so good.
This was my exact thought. I also thought the villains would just be bait/cameos rather than being the focus of the plot. The older spidey franchises felt really incorporated, which really elevated the movie from just being fan service to being a sequel story that brings closure to the other movies.
@@leinad0504 Apart from Green Goblin which simply does things... The other villains (even Doc Ock) felt like they were all filling a part of nostalgic to spidey fans out of MCU. I loved it that the villains didn't took all the focus, nor did Andrew and Tobey and that it was still Tom Holland's movie. They joined in at the perfect moment in the most fun and overwhelming way there is. To say the least, im quite sad we haven't seen Mary Jane (she knows who Spiderman is as well) but im also not sad about it because I know it would be an overkill to add her. For me, this movie easily gets 10/10 not only because of all the huge returns weve seen, but also the acting was on point from Tom Holland and mostly from the other characters but for me what really did it was the jokes in between they added. Marvel knew clearly about the memes going on and apart from my favourite Spiderman Pointing at Spiderman meme they added everything in. Everything was well thought of, they kinda redeemed themselves from previous movies which some of them were really flops but this movie will be remembered for a very long time. Yes, even more than Endgame.
Agreed. Idk what this guy is smoking by calling it a cameo. Sure they show up at the end, but they play a major role in the plot. He was wrong with his prediction.
My favorite scene in the entire morning movie if when they were just comparing stories right before the final battle, because it was just so natural and exactly the kind of conversation you would imagine superheroes having in their downtime
GAGAGAGAGA I just disliked my own face because I am unpretty. HOWEVER: I always like my GOOD videos however. No dislikes allowed where I come from. Don't be mean, dear cr
Andrew's Peter being self-aware he is the least popular Spiderman was genius ("Peter 3!"), and Tobey's Peter being the one reminding him how "amazing" he is...just perfect, the whole thing was perfect, I actually think the "I love you guys" thing was something Garfield improvised.
I had no idea now desperately I needed to see Green Goblin powerslam Spidey through five stories of building until this movie. Honest to god, they wrote his brutality and insanity perfectly.
@@nickygian but thats cause it was made in 2002 and its a raimi film, it was supposed to be goofy and cheesy, though im glad they changed it for this film
@@somea2vThat moment where Peter 2 stops Peter 1 from killing Norman is amazing character development, he came from being homophobic to saving the mentally ill.
I feel like nobody’s talking about Otto and Tobeys Peter reuniting. They were so happy to see each other, especially since Tobey hadn’t seen him in years at this point, and it was just touching. The way Otto says “you’ve grown up” and his sheer excitement to ask how he’s been is so wholesome. I’ve always felt bad for Otto. Those arms took away the life of an otherwise good man. This was a moment those characters really needed in my opinion, especially since Otto would’ve sacrificed himself as soon as he became himself again
I lost it when Willem Dafoe started suplexing Tom Holland through the floor, laughing the whole time. I was somewhat worried they were gonna gloss over his superhuman strength but he went straight hog wild.
Both of Goblin's fights were some of the most raw shit in the MCU. I'm so glad they actually doubled down on his brutality and made Tom's Spiderman really have to fight for his life.
I think the first two movies being more lighthearted with smaller stakes make No Way Home's darker tone and bittersweet ending more impactful; other Spider-Men were dealt a shitty hand at life while Tom's Spider-Man CHOSE to live in a shitty apartment and cut his connections from his mentors and friends by making everyone forget him. If MCU Spider-Man already went through the "The Night Uncle Ben Died" then this trilogy was his "The Night Gwen Stacy Died" when he learns that real personal tragedy is sorta a right of passage to truly becoming THE Spider-Man we know and love.
So were gonna start simple, how did they find a remede to every villains in one night in a high school lab? Doctor Conors really is an idiot for depensing billions of dollars in labo and gadjet at Oscorp when you can just use an high school lab. Or why did Electro act out of character for the entiere movie. Better question, What kind of energy gave him such a fresh air cut? Doctor Strange who miss his spell to make forget everyone that Peter is spider man and make everyone through de multiverse who knows peter parker come to their earth 🤨🤨. I can't believe such bs. Electro doesnt even know Peter Parker. He only know Spider man. Why did the Peter of Tobey Maguire was thinking of a remede for the green goblin. Its been 20 years that the goblin is dead in his univers. Is that all have to do Spider man? And don't get me started on Ned using magic.
@@kikietle4207 It makes sense for Toby's spider man to be looking for a cure because both his mentor and his best friend fell victim to the serum so he wants to have a "just in case" antidote. It makes perfect sense. Also ned using magic is a fun thing and brings a new possible depth to the character
I LOVED what they did for Spider-Man’s origin story. Started off as the dorky teenager with great potential, to ending it with a young man who’s basically lost everything. Really depicts how Spider-Man/Peter Parker is a tragic hero, where no matter what he does to save the ones he loves, he ends up losing them. And it really hyped up the comeback story of Spider-Man. It’s gonna be sooooo satisfying to see Tom Holland’s Spider-Man make a name for himself on his own in future films.
He's definitely the best MCU villain by far (that includes purple stone chin man). But his first performance as Goblin was not even close to as good as it is in NWH. Sam Raimi's direction made it look like a slapstick comedy. Every scene with Goblin is just funny. I'm so glad that's not the case in NWH. Willem Dafoe is a PHENOMENAL actor and it really shows.

This honestly felt like the Endgame of Spider-Man Films even if you don't thinks it's the best Spider-Man movie. It's still a grand event you fall in love with because of its history and impact
I think Spiderman, Spiderman 2, and Spiderverse are still better. So imo technically the 4th best Spiderman film. But that's not a slight at all. Still pretty great.
@@SuperMurray2009 I unfortunately think Spider Man is very overrated and tasm is very underrated. No way home is probably the second best spider man ever made

I love the way they handled the Daredevil cameo. There was absolutely no speculation of his appearance from what people saw from the trailers, and they placed his cameo at the very beginning of the film where people least expected it. I also like how they didn't use any non-diagetic music whatsoever, it made for a very realistic interaction between Peter and Matt.
"There was absolutely no speculation of his appearance from what people saw from the trailers", literally not true most people knew daredevil was in it, and speculation on it began because there's two lawyers peter talks to in the trailers, one whose face we never see, giving light to the idea of Matt Murdock in no way home. You don't live in a bubble pal
@@katofphats3689 Not only was a pic of him on set leaked before NWH, but nearly a year before, news reported that he would be reprising the role in "Spider-Man 3" (we didn't know the title yet at the time). It's just that many people refused to believe it because "the rumors of Tobey & Andrew make sense cause Sony, but using a Netflix Marvel character?? nah"
I love how Andrew feels like he fully embraced the spider man side of himself after the end of tasm 2 while Tobey feels like he embraced the Peter Parker side of himself. Aside from the obvious that he primarily wears his suit while tobey wears regular clothes, Andrew talks way more about being a cool super hero while tobey talks more about his efforts to keep up his “human life.”
I was surprised by how fast Andrew Garfield managed to make me tear up when he was talking about how he failed to save Gwen- I mean the raw emotion he channeled through that scene was palpable. Stellar acting best out of the 3 Spidey’s IMO.
I love Ned so much, every movie I expect him to start taking a backseat like most side characters in superhero films do, especially after the first movie, but he sticks around and gets involved and every scene with him is just great
This film to me is the culmination of the lessons Tom Holland's Peter has been learning since his appearance in Civil War. In CW and Homecoming, he was just the new kid trying to figure out how to do the superhero stuff and his focus was on impressing Tony, whom he idolized. By the end of Homecoming he realized he still had a lot to learn and wasn't ready to be a full-fledged Avenger yet. In Infinity War + Endgame he got caught up in things much bigger than himself, and he knew it. But, he also knew he needed to do his part, and so he followed the lead of all the more experienced heroes and offering support. Then, he watched as the man he looked up to the most made the sacrifice play- giving his life, giving up the happiness he could have with his wife and child, to save everyone. And this hit him *hard*. In Far From Home, he felt once again like he was getting caught up in things much bigger than himself, but this time without Tony's guidance. He felt incapable of living up to the legacy of Iron Man that he inherited, and so he tried several times to leave the issues to people more capable than him, but they were all either off-world or otherwise unable to assist. He rejected his responsibility and naively trusted a complete stranger who had tricked him. He was able to correct this mistake, and things nearly worked out- but one more trick turned his life upside down when they revealed his secret identity. And here, in No Way Home, Peter tried to find a way to get things back to the way they were, and sought the help of a friend who has power that he did not fully grasp the magnitude of, and ends up botching the spell which causes even more chaos and destruction in his world and life. He saw the tragedy of these people from other universes, and while he wanted to go along with Dr. Strange's plan to just put them back where they were and resign them to their fates, Aunt May reminded him of what he already knew, that he has the capability to help them, and thus the responsibility to at least try. So, he became his own hero, standing up for his own beliefs, even against someone he looks up to because he believes what he is doing is right. He didn't just blindly trust these strangers, having given the cube to MJ and Ned as a contingency if things went wrong, which, of course they did. And he realized that the only way to fully right the wrongs he caused was to follow the example that Tony made for him: sacrificing his own life and happiness for the good of everyone else. That is the moment that, to me, marks this Peter as having become a fully realized Spider-Man. The tragedy of the hero who can never have it all.
I really, REALLY, enjoyed the scene of Garfield saving MJ. It was so touching seeing him face his past with Gwen and redeeming himself by saving MJ. My favorite scene in the movie no questions asked.
It's touching cause it's implied that he's thought about how he should've saved her over and over again if he was given a second chance and in this movie, he did.
Also, I've only seen a few people touch on it, but I like that Maguire was actually able this time to stop Norman from getting impaled by his own glider.
I seriously did not think Dafoe’s Green Goblin could be anymore demented than the 2002 one. I was HORRIBLY wrong. I was legitimately terrified of him after that condo scene
I kinda forgot just how freakishly strong he was, like he absolutely BEAT THE EVERLIVING SHIT out of Peter, manipulated him, killed Aunt May… yeah he’s just the best.
Exactly! This movie basically reminds me of why i once thought Green Goblin (Played by William Dafoe) is the greatest villain ever written on any superhero movie ever, and he proofed me that those thought wasn't even a stretch to begin with! A brilliant act from william dafoe!
It was hilarious that people were claiming that Strange was nerfed and mad that Spidey “beat him” when all he did was out smarted him which is 100% accurate
Well, Dr Strange held his own against Thanos. If you will recall, Dr Strange deflected an actual black hole. I find it difficult to believe that PP could “outsmart” him. Dr Strange was nerfed big time.
The scene when Toby stops Tom from killing Defoe is so powerful and so emotional for me. The oldest and wisest Peter tells the youngest and still hurting Peter that he doesn’t have to let his loss stop him from being the hero he’s meant to be. It’s like all 3 of the movies I grew up with are passing down the torch. I’ll never see that Peter against but he helped our new one define the Spider-Man he will become. It’s beautiful.
I love the moment when Tobey reassures Andrew that if he doesn’t give up hope, he can make his personal life work out, even after Andrew has given up on it. It perfectly displays his earnest optimism. His Peter is such a kind, gentle, caring person and it’s so good go see.
Same here. I love the time they took to show us glimpses at not only their similarities, but their differences. Toby and Andrew's personal spots being towering sky scrapers, as apposed to Tom's being a 3 story school building is such a great way to show how he isn't as developed as the other two, but he has the same heart and sentimentality.
the andrew garfield redemption was so well done and well earned. having the other spideys say how great he is was so sad :( his movies really suffered from terrible directing and i'm happy he's finally getting some appreciation now that he's in this movie
I think the main problem was studio interference and the scripts being all over the place. Mark Webb and Andrew did the best in the material they had but I’m glad Andrew is getting the love and well deserved appreciation from the fandom now

He shows Peter how a version of someone powerful who's selfish and wants to take and do what he pleases without having anyone in regard. The three Spider-Men had so much chemistry together to the point where I was really sad when the movie ended because I wanted to see more of Tom, Andrew and Tobey being Spider-Bros
@@earleroy it felt like a podcast discussion about what it’s like to be Spider-Man in their universes, even the lab scenes about tobeys not having to make web fluid. We definitely need more of this maybe even a 20 min mock RU-vid vid with the 3 actors discussing the Spider-Man life
I was worried when I initially saw the movie, that Andrew and Tobey would overshadow the rest of the characters, but I was pleasantly surprised how the writers were able to implement them, just like with the villians
And yet ultimately outside of the ending, they did. 90% of the people who went to watch the movie weren't there for Tom Holland's Spider-Man's character development but to have their nostalgic wank fantasies satisfied. It feels like that time the STH movie changed Sonic's design out of witnessing what the fans had to say, it feels like nostalgia fiddling disguised as "well May died so who better of a mentor than another Spider-Man? hell let's add two" - this part strikes me as clever manipulation. All that aside though don't get the wrong idea. The movie was lovely and emotional; loved the villain interactions and character development (less for Sandman and Lizard in particular but still nonetheless) - I just feel the movie is mildly overrated in some aspects.

So far more than the movie, I love that MCU fans have upheld the honor code of not spoiling this movie immediately. I had to wait 2 days to see it, and was shocked I didn’t have it spoiled.
Before I got to watch it, people were posting a bunch of spoiler vids with the title being exactly what was happening in the vid like “audience reacts to Andrew Garfield in no way home” or “doctor strange erases everyone’s memory”
The part that got me was when Andrew said that he stopped pulling his punches. Anyone who’s familiar with Spider-Man knows the severity of that line, and it just further showed how much Gwen’s death broke him.
That line hurt me more than May's demise. I think bc I was never in love with this aunt May (in lust sure). Spidey has always been my favorite since I was little. And hearing Peter 3 say that line just cut to the core.
I give this movie a 10/10, although the ending had me in absolute tears and was heartbreaking and I wish no one forgot who Peter Parker was, but rather just have everyone remember him who already knew him beforehand but only have May, MJ, Happy, and Ned remember that he's Spider-Man and have everyone else forget. But the one scene that had me on my toes was when all the enemies were circled around Peter and his Spidey-Senses were going off and he just couldn't figure out who it was at first, but then he found out and instantly webbed Goblin's hand down cuz he was able to realize it was him. Also my favorite shot in the entire movie was when all 3 Spider-Man jumped and dived down together and were swinging together and then when they all landed and were all perched on each part of the building in their Spidey-Poses was SICK
I was actually more sad by Peter losing his friends and their memories of him than I was of Aunt May dying. Especially if the actors for Ned and MJ decide not to come back then it'll just mean that story wise Peter chose not to reunite with them because he didnt want their lives ruined simply for knowing him
I think they'll come back, but kind of in the distance. Maybe peter will get into MIT and they'll go on a date, he'll find Ned in a apprenticeship with Dr strange, cause him being able to cast portals willy nilly like that must have caught his attention
I'm thinking neds gonna return as the hobgoblin. That sounds ridiculous but they were kind of laying on the foreshadowing on that possibility alot and I think there's something there story wise what with ned not knowing who spiderman is and Peter knowing ned and how they were best friends in a previous life. But then again mac gargan never became scorpion so who knows
@@rowgesage936 Peter doesn't go to MIT in the end. In the scene where they show him entering his new apartment, they show a GED test prep book. Implying he'll just be plain old spiderman and maybe a photographer even. It's the ultimate reset.
That acting by Tobey when he’s holding the glider is amazing You can feel how much he doesn’t want Toms Peter to make the same mistake he did and how the look of “it’s not worth it” just purely from his facial expression. Bravo Tom Andrew and Tobey you’ve done us all proud
Willem was definitely Dafoe is this one. Actually succeeding in breaking Peter, just after he recovered from losing Mr Stark made me hurt and I love it. That menacing smile while fighting and taunting Peter brought a smile to mine. 2021 wasn't such a bad year after all.
The biggest "OH SHIT" I've experienced is MJ falling off and Andrew rushing to save her. It sent shivers down my spine and when he managed to save her it fucking broke my heart to see his reaction. Andrew is the greatest actor of the bunch and his movies did him dirty.
@@patrickhenry4067 I wish the studio didn’t interfere so much with the film. The stuff TASM2 did well it did amazing (pun intended) but the stuff it did bad it did horrible.
Can I just say how wholesome it is seeing each Spider-man interact with each other. Andrew's Spidey commenting how he always wanted brothers, Tobey's Spidey telling Andrew how amazing he is when they all compare their past battles. The hug Tom's Spidey gives both of them before he says goodbye. It's all so nice to see, especially when you've grown up with all these movies.
God Willem Dafoe was so fun to watch. Incredibly menacing, scary, and when I watched this dude in the apartment scene, it legit seemed more like a horror movie than a superhero movie. It was so amazing to see a Spider-Man villain portrayed in such a menacing way.
I remember Peter mentioning in Homecoming about Uncle Ben dying, but this movie makes it a bit more clear that his death wasn’t necessarily the catalyst for Peter becoming Spider-Man. Sad to see Marisa Tomei go but I really enjoyed that spin on it.
@@verbalfonders I don't it referenced Uncle Ben but it was more so how when you have powers like that and don't use them to help, then bad things continue to happen because you're not using your power to stop them, or something along those lines. @@Apoc500 there was a line hinting at him having died fairly recently in Homecoming IIRC, but it's quite possible that he was in an accident or got sick or something

@@Bloooo95 i think if he died to save Osborn it would fit the character and would make the movie more mature. like common are you trying to imply that green goblin doesn't know how to stab someone in the back? you have to try really hard to not stab someone in a fatal way
The thing with the nostalgia in No Way Home is that they don't just bring back old characters for cameos, they do something new and interesting with each of them. They're still full characters with full impact and importance for Holland's overall character arc. It's really quite impressive. I don't think I've seen anything done like this before.
Doc Ock coming back and being not only saved, but then becoming an ally to help stop Norman, to show Tom that they can be healed no matter what they say and that it's worth the effort to do it. Chef's Kiss.
Each? The lizards pretty much just the lizard here lol. Would've loved if they used his human form to sort of help peter figure out what goblin was planning like "well when I'm insane I want to hurt Spiderman so how does he do that? Blow up New York? Kill a family member or friend" idk but I did like seeing them.
I love how Andrew’s Spider-Man sort of feels like he’s picking up not far from where TASM2 left off, while Tobey’s is an older Spider-Man who is farther removed from his movies. I don’t know if that was intentional or maybe I’m just crazy. I’ve only seen it once so far, but that’s what it felt like to me. Sort of like it wasn’t just the multiverse, but different times within the multiverse. Which would make sense since Andrew’s story ended prematurely.
I think they had to bc Tobey has clearly aged. Theres no pretending that thats Tobey from 2007. Garfield still has a younger face so they can get away with it
@@chocolatemilk679 Yeah Tobey is 46 now I didn’t realize just how old he was for Spider-Man. They had to make him older or else it would’ve just fucked with the suspension of disbelief I think. He was very much like Peter B. in SM:ITS. Andrew definitely didn’t seem like a whole ass man past his mid-life crisis but certainly was past his early 20s cuz he talked about how he eventually stopped pulling his punches (which I would love to see in a movie a la Otto breaking Scorpion’s jaw in the comics) It kinda seemed like a progression. We have the old wisened Spider-Man that’s probably on the verge of retiring with Tobey, we have Spidey that’s just starting to settle down in life with Andrew, and we have young Spidey that’s about to embark on his life with Tom. I really loved it
I knew that when we saw MJ falling in the trailer, that it would be Garfield to save her because of the parallels; but I did not expect him to start crying when he does save her, and that really REALLY touched me.
@@Smiggly2574 yeah that was kind of a dead giveaway, not to mention the hand that was reaching for her looked suspiciously like andrew’s, and that shot isn’t in the final product for as long AND, tom’s wearing different gloves.
Just saw this yesterday and thought it was great. I love how there’s some meta-commentary on Andrew being the “lame” Spidey and how Tobey hypes him up. Tom labeling himself as 1, Tobey as 2 and Andrew as 3 got a giggle out of me because of the reminder of how people love to rank the different Spidermen. I’m also not sure if this was intentional, but the comment of being a “good looking kid”from Electro towards a 38 year old Andrew Garfield was hilarious to me in particular. Tom always stood out as the most teenage Spider-Man in a way. He always had the most guidance and support from others. Now that he’s lost everything and is back to basics, he really is on the same level as that status-quo for Spidey has always been. Not to mention the tie in that this movie happens because of everyone knowing Peter Parker is Spider-Man, and ending with everyone knowing Spiderman but nobody at all knowing Peter Parker. He quite literally is only known through his hero identity. Not going to college (note the GED study guide when he moves into his shitty apartment), nobody to vent to about hero stuff anymore, nobody to remind him that he’s a person and not just a superhero. It’s a harsh push of Tom’s Peter into adulthood that I find super interesting. Also love that Tobey is confirmed to be the grown up Spidey who somewhat has his life together whereas Andrew and Tom are still variations on the theme of chaotic, anxious/awkward teenager.
This movie fixed a lot of my issues with Tom. And I’m really hoping they bring Pete to college even though I’m sure it’ll be tough since he’s got no record of himself in history
He stepped it up in terms of maturity in this movie, which I really liked. I sometimes he felt a little too childish for my tastes, but he really grew up by the end
my favorite part was when peter hit the shield while going for goblins face and the brass dented. HE WAS GOING FOR A HUMAN HEAD. it’s like in far from home when he goes to punch mysterio and cracks the concrete pillar. the subtle ways they show his strength (and anger, in this movie) are just incredible.
It’s like Andrews spidey said earlier in the film, “At some point I just stopped pulling my punches” Peter ALWAYS holds back from using his full strength so when he doesn’t it’s just like 😱
I really love the idea that all of the mcu movies with Spiderman, up to this point, were really just his origin story. I remember being glad they didn't do a third uncle Ben dying scene in homecoming. I never imagined it was because he didn't have his "with great power comes great responsible" moment yet.
I was very much surprised when Peter’s lawyer was revealed to be Matt Murdock. It was out of nowhere and thank god I completely forgot about the rumors months ago. Matt’s catching that brick that was thrown through the window was pretty impressive💯
BROO WHEN HE SHOWED UP ON SCREEN ME AND A COUPLE OF OTHER DUDES WERE THE ONLY ONE WHO GASPED. cant imagine what ppl thought of us in that moment like tf why they yelling?? lmaooo
i saw the leaked photo and i still can't believe that image was actually true and got leaked on the first place. that, and the Andrew on the scaffoldings one.
hi top been getting on my nerves with his pessimistic views. always respected them but now i feel like hes just goin over the top on it. hes gotta just learn to enjoy and not scrutinize just because it doesnt fit his view of what something should be
@@anti_up_1907 He's literally just trying to generate hate clicks. This movie fixed all of his complaints for MCU Spidey and he still didn't like it. Fuck him lmao
Happy that I wasn't the only 1 who thought the pacing was awkward in this movie... Usually is a huge problem 4 me. But this movie is easily 1 of my favourites. Defo passed expectations. 9.5 for me🤝🏾😌
I really like the part where Tobey kept telling Andrew he’s amazing, cuz u know for Spider-Man it’s traditional for them to blame bad stuffs happening around on themselves, but here we see them supporting each others and self-reflecting on their own guilt
I also loved the part where they go Tobey: I fought an alien Tom: I fought an alien... in space Andrew: I uh... fought a robot rhino That scene was just soo perfect. I loved the chemistry those 3 had.
Tom’s face when he was carrying that glider over to Goblin is so badass. And the way Tobey catches the glider, and they both just stare each other down with so much tension, I thought for a split second that Tom was going to start fighting Tobey out of pure rage (Tobey would’ve beat his little ass). The guttural roar that Tom let out while trying to shove the glider through Tobey and Goblin was awesome. And again, the shot of Tobey just looking at him like “Kid, this isn’t how we do things, I’m not letting you do this.” It’s all so perfect. This movie, ESPECIALLY Acts 2 and 3, were so perfect. One more quick thing, Willem Dafoe’s performance. He was a psychopath and I loved every second of it. He was so heinous, so calculated, so cold. He was physically and mentally torturing Tom. And unlike in Spider-Man 2002, he actually goes as far as to not just scare Aunt May, but to actually deliver a death blow to her. I didn’t think Dafoe could top his performance in 2002. He absolutely has. He’s the best Spider-Man villain ever, Molina’s Ock being a close 2.
@@crimsonskrub8984 I don't know about you, but I'd put Tobey over Tom in a straight fight considering Tobey has the most experience and has worked solo for the longest amount of time out of anyone else. That is to say, it wouldn't be a complete slaughter, but I believe Tobey would still come out on top
Dafoe and Molina absolutely stole the show in terms of the villains, Foxx did pretty good too, and as underutilized as they were, Haden Church and Ifans still gave solid vocal performances
It was so predictable are you kidding. Really fun movie but this whole movie was straight fan service. Jesus marvels so good at marketing. Great performances but what a cheese ball of a watch
I was *so* fucking sure that the memory erasure would be faked out in the end somehow. Like Peter would be about to leave the coffee shop and MJ would be like, "Here's your order... *Spider-Man"* and then wink to the camera or some shit. And I respect the hell out of the filmmakers for going through with it and letting Peter lose something.
I expected something like, Peter goes to Ned and tries to do the handshake, and Ned doesn't get it at first but it drags on and he instinctively reciprocates the full handshake. But they didn't do it, and I was really shocked.
This is basically a better version of One More Day, because here, the reset is a result of Peter’s choices rather than a choice Peter makes, and I love it for that. Also Aunt May stays dead lol.
I can't remember the last time I was so excited during an entire movie. Almost every scene had me smiling and so giddy. Infinity war and endgame had their moments (Thor arriving in Wakanda, Cap picking up Thor's hammer at the end of endgame). But this spiderman movie had me wild from start to finish.
There’s actually a reference to uncle Ben in far from home (his suitcase had his initials) and in homecoming he said “I can’t do that to her, not after everything that’s happened recently” so uncle Ben existed but I think he either divorced may or died before we met this version of Peter. They just swapped his plot line with May for this series and the fact that they waited three movies to do it which is genius imo! We are more attached to her and it’s not just us watching some random guy we just met die, it’s a character we’ve seen for three movies and we can feel the pain that Peter feels…
I don't know, I always found Raimi's Ben Parker to be more emotional. He wasn't just some random guy. Especially his secne in Spiderman 2, "Spiderman no more".
Andrew Garfield's Peter getting to redeem himself in saving the girl was great. - You could really see how much the moment meant to him before during and after the whole save. He must have relived the Gwen moment so many times. Thought about how he'd do things different if he had another chance. It looked like the regret of not honoring Gwen's father's last words had been lifted.
I wish the scene had been longer just to build up the tension & the fear. That scene and Tom's rage against the Gobling & Tobey preventing Tom from doing a terrible mistake were peaks
@@shanouboubou There was more than enough build up. Earlier in the movie He mentions Gwen being "his MJ" or something like that. There was no need for tension and fear since it he showed just how much he thinks about the moment and got a second chance. It really makes you think about just how much he loved the other Peters too. Just knowing there were other versions of himself out there that had the same problems he did. Getting depressed just thinking about it.
Andrew and Tobey are major supporting characters, but not quite co-leads. They were in the movie more than just glorified cameos in the final battle and I really appreciated it. They both had their own character arcs that continued from their own movies and it was really cool to see
I think this is my favorite live action Spider-Man film, but I heartily agree that Into the Spider-Verse is leagues beyond this one still. That film is a masterpiece.
I think in the MCU, Uncle Ben did exist and did die, but it's not in a way where it was Peter's fault or where he could've stopped it somehow. In Homecoming Peter tells Ned something along the lines of "I can't let May know especially after everything she's been through." and in Far From Home we see a glimpse of a name tag on Peter's suitcase and it has B. Parker written on it. I guess we'll find out when Freshman Year comes out.
Uncle Ben may or may not exist in the MCU, and may or may not be dead, but at the end of the day, it really doesn't matter. Aunt May fills his narrative purpose completely: to guide Peter Parker through his early years, give him the responsibility speech upon dying, and give him the life lesson that he'll carry throughout his life.
You can tell all three Spideys had a blast being with each other in this movie. They have such good chemistry, and it’s so fun to see these guys work off each other. All I can say too is that I’m excited to see where Toms Spider-Man goes from here. It’ll be very interesting indeed.
This movie had everything I needed bruh. Tobey returning, Andrew returning and getting his redemption, Tom's Spidey growing even more as a character and going back to basics, and of course Wilem Dafoe's Green Goblin fucking more shit up. The final fight between him and Tom gave me absolute chills 🔥🔥🔥
My favorite scene is Andrew catching MJ, you can feel his pain, and throughout the movie he puts himself down because he’s ashamed of what happened to Gwen, such a fantastic movie, probably one of my favorite scenes in a marvel movie
You know, one criticism I've often heard about TASM2 is that one scene, particularly the part when the webbing turns into a reaching hand. They thought it was the dumbest moment in a movie full of dumb moments, even comparing it to "Save Martha" from BVS as the straw that broke the camel's back.
@@gamestation2690 I've never heard that complaint. There's so many bigger issues about that movie. That scene was one of the few good scenes in that movie imo.
Him putting himself down also felt like a meta commentary on how the Andrew Garfield movies are generally considered to be the worst out of all the spidey films And then there was Tobey reassuring him and calling him amazing, which was honestly just so wholesome
I love how the characters from the older trilogies interact with each other. Especially Tobey + Andrew and Tobey + Doc Ock. Those moments just make it feel like a big Spider family Christmas reunion
I also really like how it showcased the intelligence of the peterses as well. Like in the raimi trilogy, hes just a nerd, it never comes into play. In amazing spiderman its kind of a thing but not really, but in no way home we see them all doing lab stuff.
I kinda wanted more of Tobey + Dafoe. GG is the only villian who got closest to Breaking his Spider-Man. It honestly felt like like they were trying too hard not to make the two characters interact. I understand it was probably to keep the focus on Tom and Dafoe. But still. Doc Ock wasn't the one who Blew half of the Parker House up to Scare the life out of Aunt May, or Drop MJ off of a Damn bridge, or Throw a fricking Bomb in his face.
Tobey + Doc Ock was really nice as I hadn't seen 2 since around 2007 and I saw it in theaters when I was a young lad so Doc feeling joy at seeing Peter all grown and on his own, man that just hit different.
Hard disagree on all accounts. Jamie Foxx has more than earned our collective respect as an actor. He most definitely has range, from the psychopathy in Baby Driver (where he was the best part imo) to The eccentric madness of Ray Charles. He was absolutely terrible in the amazing Spider-Man 2 but saying that he’s a bad actor is just a horrible take imo.
@@sterling4294 I did really like his baby driver role. He really gets you to hate him, just absolutely despise him. And then he almost becomes just a bit more human for some fleeting moments, like the 4 letter name scene.
This movie exceeded my already high expectations. Im honestly just impressed they integrated everything so well and even gave lil character arcs while delivering a cohesive plot. Not to mention the effects + fight scenes were absolutely stellar.
The cgi was a bit messy at times. The Lizard and Sandman look worse than they did in their respected movies. They reused their transition scenes from Spider-Man 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man when they’re cured in the final battle.
I liked how violent this movie was compared to other marvel films. Both green goblin fights were so good, and we got to see some Spider-Man combo moves.
I just love how true to character they wrote Toby and Andrew. Toby’s kinda cringe kinda corny line about “curing”some ass is just something he would say.
The ending of this movie is literally so perfect. It is just pure tragedy and seeing Peter lose all of his connections and live in a shitty apartment was fuckin' amazing. That final swing in his new suit was so filled with emotion and I honestly think that it works so well as not only the end to all Spider-Man movies, but the end to the whole MCU. Like, if they just stopped after this, I'd be totally fine (but of course they're not stopping, but just imagine THIS was the final Marvel Cinematic Universe movie. That would be chilling).
No it wouldn't it be good cause their are so many other character arts that aren't aren't finished 💀 how could u even think this is a good ending to the mcu💀
@@hesklairvoyant I think I was over exaggerating a lot. I really meant this would be a good Spider-Man MCU specific finale. And even then, I feel like a lot of the other character arcs met a fine conclusion in Endgame. I'm kinda tired of most of the MCU and No Way Home was an amazing surprise that felt like a solid enough finisher for what I was losing interest in. I hope future movies will quit it with the "next plotline tease".
I think that Spider-Man NWH, Spider-Man 2, and Spider-Man into the spiderverse are my favorite Spider-Man movies and I can’t really choose which one I like more between them
"Strong enough to have it all, too weak to take it," Willem Dafoe was definitely the best. I love how Andrew was revealed first so that Tobey won't hog all the fans and Tom did it again.
