Wow Jerome! Despite the weight gain, I would consider this ultimately a success. 1) You had a good time with your friend 2) You were mindful of your eating and exercise 3) At the end you were able to grab hold of yourself and get back to business. I give you an A+ LOL PS: You have a lot of negative people in your comment section and I know you said you read all of the comments. I truly feel for you man. Some of these people are complete headaches. Just know that you are an inspiration to me and I appreciate what you do.

Everybody fasts, but you’re the first person to make a system out of it. Usually people just stop eating and wait for Jesus. Then binge when hunger overtakes them and feel so ashamed that they never resume the fast. You’re a rockstar, bro! I got some hope now.

I'm the opposite. When I do 6 day fast & refeed.. I'm so ready to eat EVERYTHING on my refeed day BUT I can't because my stomach shrunk from fasting & I get full too quick. I eat my fruits & veggies first & I still have my guilty pleasures BUT by then there's barely any room left for the unhealthy stuff. NOW if I'm not fasting.. the thought of I'm so ready to eat everything isn't there since I know I'm eating the next day & the day after that. OMAD helps when I take breaks from extended fasting. There's no one plan that fits all.. we love seeing you & always proud of you Jerome!! Our little fasting icon

I was shaking my head "NO NO NO" the entire time I was watching this video on my morning long walk. Knowing your past of losing, gaining and losing again. You traded one addiction (binge eating) with another (excessive fasting) without changing anything else. Watching you do this is like watching my past self do the exact same thing over and over 15 years ago. I know I'm just some random person on the internet so who cares what I say but let me sincerely say this. You have to change your relationship with food FIRST. You can't out exercise or out fast a bad diet. Your gut bacteria and brain will eventually sabotage and win.

I said this in his first video. He liked it but didn’t comment. He seems to have the answers to everything. He has to see that he clearly needs therapy and has to find a better way. Otherwise this will be an on going cycle.

Good gut bacteria (real food) is a key component not only for our bodies but also for our mental health and if we eat processed food it creates bad bacteria which fuels and drives out of control cravings. 'You cannot outrun a bad diet' (Joe Rogan) and this refeed which is my food lifestyle too (because nobody is watching) is a bad diet. But Jerome's transparency is second to none. Exceptionally brave and he is prepared to do that for us. Thank you SO much Jerome!

Shaking your head for what??? Have you ever watered fasted y’all are overreacting when you fast you only actual lose about an half of pound of actual fat. The 80lbs he lost is actually only 40lbs of actual fat lost give or take. The weight gain is inflammation and the body holding on to water and salt. Yes eating addiction is hard. It is funny how people come on here as if they are perfect most of y’all have smoking addictions, alcohol addiction and food addiction as well. But the difference is y’all can hide 🫣 this man is being transparent. And as an over eater that fast there is no way in hèll he is trading in a food addiction for fasting. I can see if it was smoking or alcohol do you even understand how hard it is to fast that’s not an addiction you sound crazy

This is why I personally cannot fast longer than overnight. I used to. But it leads to overeating for me and I never got my eating such as portion control and habits in order. I'm on a much more sustainable plan, working on my mental connection with food and gradually losing weight, having now lost more than I have with fasting for longer periods.

Agreed and nobody talks about this which I find dumb. Anybody can lose the weight they want but the problem is that keeping your new goal weight IMPLIES that you can never go back to your original eating habits. Thank you for this. This is realistic. I've found that I can only maintain a consistent schedule for so long. Usually there's an event or period of life where I don't follow that schedule and weight gain is inevitable. Despite this, we can always get back to our routine. There's nothing wrong with these breaks when we have the conviction to get back to what's best for our bodies shortly thereafter. The problem arises when we take breaks and completely fall back into our old habits. Wishing you success on the rest of your journey, Jerome. I have no doubt you'll get back to your maintenance weight in no time. And for those that fall off, never forget how awful you actually feel going back to those old habits. Fasting is a beautiful reset in that it gives you immediate feedback when you fuel yourself with less than optimal foods. You've had your fun, which we all need sometimes. Now, back to the grind!

Good work here. It is very easy to allow something like this to spiral out of control. You did not let that happen. You documented the process, you kept weighing in, you tracked your fasting and eating windows, and you documented the foods you were eating. Many people will fail to realize how big of a deal that is but I recognize it. You were in control even when you allowed your eating to get out of control. You had a plan and you stuck to your plan. This is what shows that you have grown. Good work

Was very interesting to see your own challenge with yourself, the desire of freedom that comes with living life and vacation with a friend, the test of self-control, the workout and the anticipation of whatever comes after these 10 days. I could see my food addiction in your struggle to eat more even if you are full. I don't like restrictions of any kind, especially food and that's why when I eat whatever without thinking of consequences, I feel the happiest and most normal human being. I crave that freedom. But I can't have it, as I have fought this emotional eating battle since teenage. So I am dieting and fasting since 2014 with great success, yet putting back all the weight and more when bad things happen. I restarted Rolling 72 since I subscribed to your channel and I feel strong. I am in week 3 now and is going well. I want your success cause you sure inspire me! It will take me all year, but I will make it! :) Thanks for being so transparent and real. Thanks for everything you are teaching us by testing it on your body. Waiting to see what's next:) And I am sure you will lose all the weight you put, because like you said, you still been in some control and you have us here waiting for you to be strong again. :) And probably right now you are still " Finally Fasting" strong. I really appreciate the accountability. The ability to get back to it and not just let it go is the biggest thing, and what I think most people have a problem with. You getting back to it is what matters the most! I have been rolling water fasting for a bit but my liver was aching so I took some breaks. I just made a plan for this week to start incorporating exercise and adding some super healthy foods to my refeeds (broccoli sprouts with huge salads). Tomorrow I start back 96 hour fasting a 2 hour eating window and repeat. This time adding walking five days a week and working on my sleep. I am very ADHD and sleep has always been a challenge. I think it's the hardest part for me! I can't begin to tell you how much you have motivated/inspired me to stick with this, thank you Jerome! Keep it up man!

This is such a tough video to watch. I think it’s good to enjoy yourself in some form of moderation. But when I go on vacation, I still fast and eat healthy. I don’t just jam a bunch of carbs and junk food down my throat. I can enjoy being with people. That’s the place I hope you can get to. Even if you just do a 16/8 when on vacation it’s better. But you don’t have to just give up eating healthy because you are on vacation. I hopeThat you keep your health a priority. Gaining 20 pounds in 10 days is concerning. Even eating that many calories is probably hard on your body whenever you refeed. Best of luck as you get back on track. I hope that you never experience the same kind of complete extreme binging in the future. I hope that you can enjoy your friends and vacations in meaningful ways. With food not being the centerpiece, but more of a form of fuel.

I struggled watching this too. I've lost almost 50 lbs doing rolling fasts, but my refeeds are mostly a high raw vegan diet. I do this because, for me, fasting is for weight loss but improved health is my main goal. So it wasn't the binge eating that was the trigger it was the junk food! I sincerely hope Jermone can find a better balance with the nutritional composition of his diet that way when the opportunity to indulge emerges the weight gain won't be so extreme!

Yes. One of the issue with this type of binge/restrict cycle is that while it does work, it is pretty extreme. What happens is that when you do fall off, you fall out hard (due to mental issues, stress, life, etc), because you stop the restriction but keep the binge.

It also seemed like you enjoyed all of the eating (the Snickers cookiie looked sooo good) but realized that everyday eating is not as much fun anymore. You are trying everything so that you can make a decision based on experience. Seens like there may be "seasons" of back-to-back eating and a lifestyle of ADF, 65's, or whatever works. Anyway, glad to see you brother, thanks for the documentation, and above all your heart and transparency. p.s. Builders protein bars back in effect and those gunnnies were "G" rated😊

I have been using fasting with the carnivore diet for weight loss and healing for about a year and am down around one hundred lbs. This is the ninth time I have lost large amounts of weight in my life. When I don't eat the carbohydrates, I reach satiety fairly quickly, eating the carbs I just don't get full. Your rapid weight gain with what you are eating is very familiar to me and what I am avoiding now. You might think about cutting back on the carbs to be more successful at maintenance. Also I think that while exercise is a positive, you can't exercise your way out of a bad diet.
@Jean_in_Stillness
@Jean_in_Stillness 4 месяца назад
Jerome, this is ALL new. The "old Jerome" seemed more resigned to a (false) belief of, "this is just how I am; it will never change." You have turned this around and clearly have been digging deep into self-reflection in search of the truth behind the satiety/overeating issues. That took (and continues to require) genuine courage and humility. You may use this platform to keep yourself accountable, yet it is a profound service to demonstrate to others that they are not alone in dealing with body/mind/spirit concerns. Mad respect for your persistence and drive to discover the "why?" And once revealed, there will be no stopping your victory over these matters. Enjoy the time with your friends; relationships are treasures. Prayers and good thoughts are offered up for you. 🙏

Great experiment. You really showed us what (nearly) most people do/eat on a day-to-day basis and we can see how easy it is to gain weight eating the recommended 4-6x a day, or even eating every 2-3 hours a day, or even how fasting for less than 20 hours a day won’t yield weight-loss. Eating consistently makes one ravenous. It’s very interesting.

Get rid of all the carbs, even fruit and vegetables and go CARNIVORE. Try eliminating all plant-based and refined carbs and eat only high quality grass-fed red meat, organic eggs, butter, drink water and add some salt. NO dairy (cheese, yogurt...). You can do carnivore and OMAD... try it.

Jerome, First…love the transparency as you share your journey. I’m roughly 2.5 times your size and you can eat me under the table. It makes me wonder if you have an unusually high production of ghrelin. I’m glad you’ve come up with a system to lose weight. I wonder how you’d do if on say a 10 day feed the last 3 days you go keto/carnivore in order to silence the ghrelin and make the transition to being a fasting beast easier. My wife and I send you hugs, Jerome.

I did a 3-day water fast recently and I posted it on my RU-vid channel. So far I haven't gained any weight but it's probably because I'm on a weight loss journey but I did my fast for a body detox. I realized by doing the water fast it has helped me with cravings. Like I don't crave food like I used too or feel the need to snack.

Jerome, very interesting video. Do you ever make Filipino food? By the way? I’m starting a 96 hour fast as of yesterday.

I thought it was kinda scary going into this, but I hope you learned what you wanted out of it! It was hard watching this video! Praying for all of us who are trying to figure our relationship out with food, to make it a healthy, proper and life giving relationship to all of us!

Wow, I can believe you gained 20 pounds in 10 days seeing that one pound is 3500 calories. You have a big appetite, but I know you can lose the weight again. I’m the same way even if I’m on vacation I would have to enjoy in moderation because if not I would over do it. Thanks for sharing. I missed you on Sunday.

So…I guess you’ve gotten really good at not eating, but you haven’t practiced how to properly eat (like me and probably most of your audience ). I’ve done some ADF in the past, but noticed I was over eating after a while. Now, I’m scaling back the intense fasts to practice what I’m gonna do when I’m not fasting, if that makes sense. 3 meals a day the last couple of weeks, not a lot of junk, moderate carb. Had to increase carbs when I had some intense sugar cravings on just 1-2 starches a day. Not being too restrictive, but still restricting sugary food and take out. Watching portion sizes, but eating filling foods like bacon and eggs for breakfast, yogurt/cottage cheese for lunch, and whatever I prepped for dinner lol, and noticing my hunger. I’ll probably reduce my food to 2 meals a day, bc I’m not even hungry at lunch, just eating bc I can lol. An eating schedule helps with feeling in control of my impulses, while also feeling full and satisfied

I have lost nearly a stone, and thanks to you ive followed through with it, but i will say i think you have got a little far with it. I dont think you really need 70 hour fasts any more. You need to find that balance, maybe like an OMAD or drop down to maybe 24/48 hours a week. Is your BMI in the Healthy range still?

For those interested, You don’t have to gain weight with balance. You can do omad while on vacation, and still hit the gym. Everything doesn’t have to go out the window because you’re on vacation. No slight to Jerome at all, he did what works for him. Just wanted to share you can have a flexible fasting routine on vacation.
