We spent today working on Jason's 1993 Jeep Wrangler YJ 4.0. He had a bad transmission mount that needed replacement. This is just a day hanging out with us in the shop as we work on his Jeep.

I like that high tech cardboard mat, I use'em too. But I have to work in the dirt... Funny, getting Drastic on the Jurassic..

I use cargo straps in the front and rear grooves on the skid plate so they don't slip off and hook the hooks on the door sills. It hold the plate snug while you take the bolts off, then you can kinda lower the plate to the floor... Revers to install......

Holy cow that has a lot of corrosion preventative on it and maybe why the mount was shot. Glad it was an easy fix. Jeep looks good.

Just replaced 6 nutserts today on a 1997 TJ. Wasn't a terrible job but my arms are sore!

i need to do this, was hoping to put off my frame swap until next year but there is too much driveline vibration. I probably wont be able to get the cross member bolts out of the frame in one piece . she's pretty rusty.

Yeah. That can be a big issue. I'd hit them with PB blaster for a few days. Then Heat as well.

IDK if you know but you can replace that without removing any pans, I just did mine, it's kinda tight but if you jack it up you can do it

huh... i never thought about trying that. Very cool. In this case, we wanted to inspect the mounting bracket as well. I was afraid it was cracked.

Is or was the tranny mount making clattering metal on metal noise ? Just curious i do believe ive got the same issue makes a hell of a noise while idles as soon as apply a bit of throtle it stops maybe motor mounts as well . deff gonna look into it for sure great vid boss 👌

no, his wasn't making metal on metal sound. Mine did when the bracket was broken.

I don't paint them. Would look cool if I had the time, but the benefit not enough.

Put the floor jack under the skid plate, loosen bolts and simply low it🤦‍♂️

NOOOooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!! Not cutting!!!!!!!! All you needed was a wrench of the same size on the top side, there was another nut on that transmission anti torque bolt!!!!!! Even if the lower threads were trashed, the top nut would have come off instead......

@@JeepSolid Hmmm.... interesting.... I've rock rashed mine up quite a bit and managed to save it... I did use a die to clean up the threads a bit after I got it off... Guess I got lucky...lol

The threads were gone in the middle. So it went threads-no threads-nut-no threads-threads. The nut just spun freely and it wouldn't engage on the threads to be able to take it off. We tried working with both sides for about 20 min then realized what we were dealing with.

@@BroncoSolid Alrighty then.... I stand corrected... Do what you gotta do...and cutting is what you had to do...lol... I thought maybe just the bottom of the bolt was damaged on the threads...
