The Age of Reason ushered in a new era of science, rationality, democracy and the rule of law…that was a good thing, right? Yes, but also no. In this video I explore the role of women and queer people (specifically sapphic women) both before and after the French Revolution, examining how Enlightenment Philosophy played a role in the progression of LGBTQIA+ visibility and women’s rights.
