Tradwife content is everywhere, and underneath it all is a simmering misogyny, extremism...and fear. Here's everything that's wrong with the tradwives of Tiktok, and what you can do to stop them dead in their tracks.

I am going to make a comment, but I don't want people to think that I am being a troublemaker. I had a classmate from México who was talking to me about guys she likes who are really controlling. I thought she was in an unhealthy situation, so I tried to encourage her. Perhaps my understanding was a bit naïve? She kept assuring me that she wants a guy who tells her what to do! A part of me gets that, because I think it's important for a man to demonstrate he can be a decision-maker, while he takes alllll of the details into consideration. It's hard to type all my thoughts that relate to your video!
@meghansandor
@meghansandor 6 месяцев назад
I get what you mean! ☺There can be a fetish/kink element to control and domination too, which is a totally different thing, and involves a lot of intentional conversations about informed consent and boundaries. That's totally fine, and very different from tradwives! What I'm talking about in the video are women who are coerced into these relationships without being able to fully consent to them, because they don't have all the information and are operating from a place of fear, fantasy and romanticization. That's not healthy, and it's dangerous when they start trying to persuade other women to do the same thing.

Hello. I am proud to call myself a Trad Wife. I watched your whole video and it was interesting and if it’s ok I have an equally long reply. I am a Trad Wife and have been one for 17 years. I just learned about the whole debate while I had Dr. Phil in the background while I was doing some kind of chore. I just have to disagree with how you, and others, paint me. I was raised on traditional lines which included traditional gender roles and church. It was not outwardly spoken but there was a mantra in the house of “when you’re 18 you’re out the door” not “sure, sleep in the basement until you are 30” like the common practice is today After HS I stayed home for 4 months while I looked for a job (got one, receptionist and I can hear the feminists cringe) and my two brothers went into the military. I worked for two years in the business world and hated it. The women seemed miserable, nasty, or just unhappy in general and a lot of them were giving the vast majority of their pay not to their own improvement, but to a daycare center. I met my husband and we dated and had some long discussions before we got married. He wanted a traditional feminine woman, like me, and I wanted a traditional masculine man, they type that feminism has destroyed, so we fit. Before we had children we had a long discussion about how many to have. We decided on two but wound of with three-twins the second time around. I am a Trad Wife and take no shame in it but you will not see me making videos. I don’t have the time or any inclination to buy the necessary equipment to make them. If you see me in public, say at the market, I will be wearing a dress. I like to be feminine and frankly do not understand the whole ripped jeans thing that everyone seems to love these days. I sometimes wonder if I could start a business by simply destroying perfectly good jeans and selling them. Nice dress, nice looking, nice hair but you do not see my other side where I am in nothing but an old sweatshirt or just my bra and panties with my hair pulled up cleaning the house and not being able to shower until after 10 because I have a whole routine mapped out. My husband goes out of the house to a corporate job while I stay home and manage the home front but not in couture. If I want to know about our money I either ask, or look it up on line since I know the passwords, there’s no secret. Yes, I drive a soccer mom minivan but my husband drives a Honda, not a Porsche and both cars are in both are names, as is the house and bank accounts and credit card (only one to accumulate miles). Both of us carry our own life insurance too. As a Trad Wife I do defer to my husbands judgement, but about the little things in his sphere and he does the same for me-but only the little things. When he got headhunted for a differnt job that would require a move believe me it was a long series of conversations between us about what would be best and not a unilaterall decision made by him and him alone. I can bake from scratch and I make cakes from scratch, but only twice a year on my kids’ birthdays not every day and certainly not in a good dress with full makeup. That’s just ridiculous. I see this whole thing about not going out at night without my husbands’ presence or permission. I will not go out without him at night, but only because of something before we married that still has left me with a little PTSD to this day and I will not talk about it. With regard to the religious aspect, we go to church on Sunday-I insist upon it-and I have a crucifix on my fridge but next to it is the chore wheel for the kids and they do their chores and keep their rooms clean or lose privileges since I am not a slave. I’ve lost one battle in all of our marriage. My husband loves to watch UFC fights. I don’t know why, I find it appalling and just glorified cockfighting and some women do it (fighting), which I understand even less, and he lets my son watch it with him when he buys it on PPV. It’s the only thing that I don’t approve of out of everything else over the course of our marriage that happens, but no marriage is perfect. This is how I live my Trad Wife life and I have been looked down by other women many times and actually been called a traitor to my face on more than one occasion but even though we each work in traditional gender norms our house is still a democracy. Shame on all of you who would lump me in with those You Tube phonies! Ms. Sandor, I did enjoy your video but right now I’m over your 1,800th viewer so I doubt anyone will ever see it or read it but you. I would like to know your opinions though. Thank you.

I'm with the tradwives. My wife and I have lived this way for 16 years now (13 with a son) and we're both very glad we did. There's also nothing wrong with a traditional wife earning supplemental income so long as she's taking care of her primary duties as homemaker. The point is to have specific roles for both husband and wife that not only fit in with men and women's natural differences in skill and inclination, but also quite frankly just to make sure every important thing actually gets done!
@meghansandor
@meghansandor Месяц назад
My favourite thing is when men comment on these videos talking about how much their wives love being tradwives. I'm sure you're right (obviously you know your own wife) but I'm always just curious about what these wives have to say about it. If she's willing to leave a comment and speak for herself, I'd love to hear from your wife directly :)
@Vic2point0

@@meghansandor Why on Earth would you suspect that my wife would have a problem with me talking about this to other people? And is your implication that only men promote being a tradwife? Because this video is literally talking about a bunch of *women* promoting it, not a bunch of men.
@meghansandor
@meghansandor Месяц назад
@@Vic2point0 I don't suspect she has a problem with it at all, I'm just curious and care about her opinions and perspective and experiences much more than I am about yours, only because it's so often the men posting about how their wives love staying a home, and only rarely do I get comments like that from the women themselves. Like I said in my comment, I'm sure you're right, I would just rather hear that from your wife than you.
@Vic2point0
@Vic2point0 Месяц назад
@@meghansandor Why then? Seems to me that if your reason was truly "Eh I just see men saying it so often it would be nice to hear it from a woman for a change", you would just watch more videos of the tradwives themselves promoting it...

@@Vic2point0 tradwives on the internet also have an agenda. It's not the same thing as husbands commenting on videos to explain to me how their wives feel about the topics I cover in my videos. The fact that you and other husbands are commenting on behalf of your wives discredits the contents of your comments, which is the thing that I find interesting :)

Quite an interesting analysis, even though many brought up points could be explained in other ways, other than only the worst charitable explanation or "black and white" reasoning, IMO. I really loved your argument about this "tradwife" trend being a female red pill and I wish many more would actually notice scary similarities to it. As someone on more conservative side of the argument, this is something what actually bothers me about the trend in itself. It has nothing to do with being a SAHM or actual homemaker. It's actually quite insulting to it.

My mother took care of me and my brother up to my age of 15. Stayed at home because my father wanted it. I got the best upbringing But not felt my mother felt trapper. Because when my father went home he was finishen Talking and my mother was finished being silent all day. i was 9 We moved to and old farmhouse without no shower, washing matchines and central heating to heat food and house. A LOT of chopping wood and etc. She had no freetime and he did nothing. I always thanked her for doing all this and loved her to bits even in front of others up to the day she died. And of course i had to make my own part so at an age of 9 i Washed all my clothes and did the garden. In Sweden it is hard to stay on only one salery and We where rather Poor in some easy. I had only new clothes when it came to underwear and pyjamas. Few toys. But my mother have us as much attention that other that had new clothes and toys envy us. If she had Been working outside the home she would not have given us this. I myself never wanted kids if i couldnt give the same to the kids as she did. She learned us kids so much and she always put us first. In return she had us 24-7 if she wanted it. I had the possibility to stay with her 4-5 Months every year , with my partners good Memory.. When she got ill We where there and when she died she was with me. She was so proud over us kids even if i jumpe off from a fantastic career that all says Why are you leaving. But i have of my time to my mother as a Thanks and choose a work that made me forced to stay in one place. I think there is no way one can have everything. One have to take a Plath of different circumstances But there is no meaning to stare at others and envy them or say they take wrong wars. Everyone has to decide themselves and take the consequenses of it. In my case less money and small flat But i was Richie love of my mother and my partner that is a superfantastic man. But one thing is cleari i was forced by my father to go to University and make A career even if i wanted to be a housewife or working or some more domestic work. No -you are Bright said father and on the track was i. No parents or partners should decide ones future. So if any wants to make a career or stay at home- Please support their choose. If I want to buy something high ticket I'm gonna do it. Smh. I'm not running up to a man like he's my father, asking him for permission to buy something and then tuck my tail between my legs and run away happily if he says "no". Absolutely not! This is why it is so important for a woman to have her her own money so if she wants to buy something expensive for herself she can just do it and doesn't need a person with a penis to tell her what she can and cannot do in her own life as an AUTONOMOUS adult. I am a feminist who makes her own money and I take care of all of the finances but I love being a housewife as well. People are more complex than tradwives or someone who is maybe a hardcore feminist would think. Feminism is awesome but it can be hard. They decided to live a different life and so they present it to the world in the best light possible, obviously. On the other side we have woke people deciding to live a different way and trying as hard as possible to impose their way of life on others, just like you are doing by calling people that opt for something different “extremists”…

Saying we should settle for capitalism because it’s the best we’ve come up with so far is like saying someone should settle for a relationship with a person they don’t love, just because they’re not abusive. Best so far doesn’t equal healthy, or good. The awesome thing about being human is that we’re infinitely creative. We can think of something better than capitalism if we learn to deconstruct it first. If you’re interested in possible solutions and better systems, I highly recommend “Radical Intimacy” by Sophie K. @@adilson5051 grassroots anarchist movements have proven to be a good starting point so far. Again, check out "Radical Intimacy" by Sophie K. Rosa. She proposes a number of ways that we can start deconstructing capitalism through our interpersonal relationships and building strong communities that make their own rules, organically and collectively. Relationship anarchy is a new and very promising idea for how to start getting away from capitalism and towards something healthier at the grassroots level, by re-thinking the primacy of the nuclear family. Nuclear family systems are vital to the functioning of capitalism, so by deconstructing them we can start to create something different that fundamentally challenges capitalism. Whatever the solution is, it should come from the grassroots. Communist states like the USSR fail because they're fundamentally not that different from capitalism. They still rely on systems of oppression and hierarchy in order to function.
