POV: You just got destroyed by a lil mac main and wondering how you lost to LIL MAC

One of my friend told me Little Mac one of the most annoying/difficult character to fight. Why ? The reason is simple : Almost all Smash Bros characters use their tilt-attacks & their aerials attacks (even if some of them are not extraordinary). Little Mac is so imbalanced (all his strength is on the ground, almost nothing in the air) that it's like he doesn't follow the same rules, he doesn't work as the rest of the Smash Bros characters. So, the player will often has difficulties to adapt during a fight against him. So for me, Little Mac is not the worse character of Smash Bros tier list. I would say he is set apart from the others, in the "Little Mac Tier" ^^

This is a well needed guide

One thing that some people miss. Just about all of Little Mac's ground attacks are very unsafe on shield. Aside from the push-back making grabs useless, Characters with a good OOS game can punish Mac for touching their shield. The only things to keep in mind is that down-tilt can low profile some moves and that doing this too much will get your shield broken

I know this video came out a little while ago, but my God am I glad this exists. Little Mac may be the worst character in the game, but he's honestly one of, if not my worst matchup. Only beaten by Pikachu, Snake, and Isabelle for my worst matchups. Describe how much I hate this matchup, I would much rather fight the spammy Snake player imaginable than a good Little Mac player. I don't know what the hell it is, I get combo into Oblivion on the ground, he always seemed to get his KO punch at the worst possible time, and despite his seemingly bad recovery he always manages to make it back to the f***ing stage! I don't know what the heck I'm doing wrong. I main King K. Rool, Ganondorf, and Inkling, so I should have this matchup in the bag, but I can never beat little mac. Sure, he can be a complete joke once I get him in the air, but that almost never happens with me. Overall, I will definitely be using this guide, as it's the only reliable source I have at this point.

I have been absolutely demolished by several Little Macs. Drives me crazy. His recovery sucks, yes, and his aerial game is weak, but you're not even thinking about that when he hits you with KO Punch and kills you at 30%.

“Little mac is bad at platforms” platforms aren’t that bad for Mac, actually I feel quite comfortable with them and know other Mac mains who actually prefer platforms, in my opinion the only platform little Mac struggles with is the top one

I don't really agree little Mac is the worst character in the game. His at least the best of E tier Hey at least his the best at one thing, being the best of the worst

1:50 we prefer not to risk the endlag if something else can kill, 100% is way past the percentage we'd start holding onto it for next stock. That's situational however, but a general rule to keep in mind. 3:55 I've never seen a Little Mac punch shield, all our options get messed up by OOS. The best thing we can do it space d tilt and low profile an option/ break the shield after or space uafsmash to push you away. I'm not sure how tech heavy you like to be but roll cancel boost for our grab might be worth mentioning, that's what I prefer to do. But the grab is still suuper slow. 4:20 we prefer to save jump for that very reason, plus from farther away it's less likely to be taken away 5:13 very true, but I feel you should still list his options against this, it's not a catch all. Waveland is going to bring that ground game to a much smaller area if you're too predictable in your camping, and dsmash armor will make it hell when he gets the lead instead and camps back. 5:17 it's very slow and only d throw has utility, but pummel will help us freshen staled moves and is the fastest in the game. Ya can't just say it's bad and move on. 5:28 *straight lunge armor is 9.6 so if you're aerials are multihit or weak we land for free* Also SL can armor some projectiles and then he'll airdodge to ledge Overall very nice guide, just some niche stuff that may make some points untrue, but the Mac has to prove he can do these before you should deviate from this fairly solid guide

My little brother mains Little Mac, and he's a SPECIAL pain to deal with because he plays *hyper* aggressive. You can't camp him because he WILL break your shield if you try to camp him. Combine that with the fact that he knows how to use aerial moves to combo (I play Dedede) and it's usually a rage quit on my end when he picks Mac lol

I play a guy who LOVES just spamming smash attacks and counters. Which wouldn't be a problem if his counter didn't last forever, get triggered by my projectiles, and STILL somehow reach me from halfway across the stage

It feels so satisfying to see Little Mac get beaten. I hated him since Brawl, as he was an assist trophy and there was no way to beat him back then, so I used to get really angry seeing a boxer beat Charizard.

4:22 😆 People used to have no idea how to recover with Mac

I have a friend that plays little Mac and he never shields, he just mainly dash attacks, side-B’s, and throws out smash attacks. (He also counters a lot) Every time he jabs/dash-attacks my shield, his next hit box comes out so fast that I can’t grab him. This is infuriating because I know I am the better over-all play but I just can’t seem to overcome this obstacle. If anybody has any suggestions feel free to drop any on this comment. I would really appreciate it!

First of all Thanks for the video, I keep getting my ass handed to me by my brother who keeps playing little Mac what I’ve learned from this video is 1. Respect little Mac 2. Respect little Mac 3. Respect Little Mac Jokes aside this video has some really good tips, to all people playing against little Mac just be careful of his Down tilt to Haymaker combo that is insane. I find it extremely hard to play against him even after his jab he spot dodges instantly and can still hit me afterward. His really hard to punish, he Moves out a lot which makes him hard to grab and like I said his hard to punish if I try Areials he just camps under me and up tilts he also got super armor which doesn’t make it better. But the most frustrating thing for me is playing against his counter if I’m winning on the aggressive end let’s say I’m juggling him he will just basically counter any of that but I guess I’m bad and can’t play the game because In the heat of the moment I can either hit or not hit it’s hard to predict if he would counter then if he doesn’t I would just be wasting my chance and go back to getting bodied on the floor. His smashes are really fast for example I remember an ancient where I shielded against a smash but he straight threw out a second one with no end lag to the first smash he threw. Most likely my problem because I can’t play the game I’d like to thank you again for the video I’m still new to the game and this is helpful.

Mac main here. You made a mistake at 3:57 where you said "Watch out for his Down smash because it can break your shield." Little Mac's best shield breaking move is his Down-Angled Forward Smash (DAFSmash) which does a ton of shield damage and breaks shield if he Down tilts first. Down smash doesn't effectively break shields at all. 5:13 "Little Mac is bad on stages with platforms." This isn't true, though new Macs will struggle with platforms, usually if Little Mac gets on the platform to pursue someone who is already on one they won't have an easy time contesting him. He can also use them to get around projectile spamming and zoning. So if you're a mac main: don't be scared of platforms, they are your friend. If you aren't: don't think they will save you. 5:27 "It's easy to juggle Little Mac because he doesn't have good landing options. He only has two: airdodge or counter." This isn't true, Little Mac can Nair into a fastfall to basically teleport to the ground. Since his Nair is also frame 2 he can interrupt combos and spam it to drag his opponent to the ground with him into a jab. He can also use his Neutral B (Straight Lunge or "SL") to armor weak aerials or multi-hits since it has 9.6% Heavy Armor and make it to the ground safely. 5:38 The sad truth about Little Mac's design is that he does encourage camping because his ground game is just that good. If you're a Mac main, don't pick Final Destination if your opponent is a camper, because the platforms can't save you. Little Mac has a much easier time against zoners and campers when he has platforms to work with. Everything else you said was pretty accurate. Look, I don't care what anyone says, I think the KO Punch is a stupid move. It's like an entire Final Smash on its own. But better than a Final Smash! 2-3 times in a normal 3-stock match, Little Mac receives the ability to kill nearly anyone at nearly anytime, and it cannot be blocked.

My opponent plays Little Mac, and he ALWAYS uses the counter. He is also camping too.

I think the tierlist is only valuable for absolute pros and is not valid for casuals like me. I play against my friend he is little mac and i have trouble defeating him while other charactes are easier to deat for me which are higher on the tierlist.

I'm a g&w main and the only hero that gives me trouble is Mac. Everyone flames me and says that the matchup is free, prolly cuz it's a top tier vs a bottom tier, but I always feel like that matchup is in mac's favor. In his advantage state he always seems to out space me and pressure my shield. I can't approach or fight back because he can throw out all those fast hitboxes, can't roll in cuz my roll sucks, and I can up b but it won't hit him if he maintains that spacing. In neutral, it seems far easier for him to approach me than the other way around. His tilts, side b, up b, and dash attack all cover approaches in front of him as well as from the air. You would think that the disjoints on my aerials would win out in range but you have to fall right on top of the midget to land the hit. Half my playstyle involves approaching with a falling nair to go around the enemy attack. Mac has the speed and frame data to sit there and throw out attacks that nullify almost all options. Definitely all of my combo starters. So just based on math he is far far more likely to hit me then vice versa. Then if I camp him and he approaches, my nair doesn't snuff out his fair or bair, so I have to throw out bairs (again not a combo starter) or just don't attack since he can punish literally anything else. Now let's say my gamble pays off and I land a dash grab out of neutral or after Mac uses side B. Or if I punish anything else which would only happen with an up b, which btw is my weakest combo starter and I can only get like 22 off of it, less if I can't juggle the enemy. Now I need to make up my deficit and rack up the damage right? Wrong. Mac just uses the armor on his neutral b to land safely because ALL of my aerials are multihits. Reset to neutral and have the patience of a saint.

I genuinely hate little mac. I don't care if he's low tier my stupid brother keeps using him and beats me 9/10 matches all the time and he keeps saying that I suck since he's "low tier". It's to the point where it's not even fun playing against him anymore.

I was more concerned about how ftilt can shieldpoke somehow, and fsmash is safe on shield, and his side b is almost impossible to deal with

Little mac petition!!!!!! Mains United Little mac the under dog of his own tier list. (Rework ideas) Those who main him find enjoyment in always having to give it a 110% to win a match. Now that being said nothing is more frustrating then being gimped on a new stock, or spam projectile from across the stage. I'm not saying make him the lord of the sky, I am saying if this man cant fly make him a Lord of the lands. Make his Ground game the best. Balancing Little Mac Steps 1. Give his Side B super armor so he can recover and not be gypped. That or allow him to use it again if he is hit. Followed up with up B sooner would help greatly. 2. Change his neutral B into something that can be charged and held. Giving him the ability to recover. 3. Less ending lag on his moves so that when he attacks a player and they simply shield they are not able to grab him so easily. That or make it so his moves push him farther away from his opponent. 4. Give him a special mechanic when he spot dodges, perfect shields that he gets something special that follows more with his game. ( Examples) Spot dodges= temporary faster smash attack Spot dodges= strong tilt Spot dodges= charges up for a KO punch. Perfect Shields= stronger Smash attack Perfect shields= charges up KO punch Perfect shields = more knockback Perfect shields projectile = able to shrug off one project Perfect shields multi attacks= temp gains browsers big boy perk. These are all just ideas that could be worked around or even better ideas. 5. Better frames in his dodges (Getting grabbed in mid dodge sucks....) 6. Being able to get on a platform without using two jumps. 7. A better counter that's not going to kill you if it's used in the air. Maybe make it so Little Mac automatically counters back towards the stage other then flinging him into the abyss. 8. Redoing his Up B would be amazing so he does not go into free fall when used would allow him to use his Side B and Up B to recover in different ways. 9. Less end lag when landing back on stage would allows him shield projectile better or dodge faster.

Good guide on how to play little mac

You were doin good til the weaknesses (hi I’m a Mac main). Mac’s other landing option is Straight lunge (neutral b), which actually has armor and can armor through moves like Palu u air, joker u air, Yoshi u air, etc. This mixes things up while landing and can be activated mid air to hit you out of an aerial, so be careful if you fight a good Mac. Another plus he has is his frame data. Mac has the fastest ground moves in the game (tilts being frame 4-7 and smash attacks being frame 10) And lemme just say this: DO NOT PUNISH DAF SMASH ON SHIELD (downward angled forward smash). It is safe if spaced properly and if you try to do anything oos, then you’ll get d tilted into side b or f tilt. Lmk if y’all want any other info

I mean this in the nicest way possible, since there are people legitimately skilled with him, but... Little Mac is a definitive "noob killer" fighter. The lower the skill level, the more he goes from a joke to an absolute nightmare, able to exploit his strengths to their full extent while his opponent can't properly exploit his weaknesses. In the casual environment where you're just throwing out random attacks and hoping it works out, he is insanely powerful.

I've been using him for a while and he isn't even a low tier character tbh. All i gotta do is spam d-smash and i can kill heavy characters at like 50%. Don't try blocking either i break your shield in 1 hit, so yeah he's definitely at least B+ tier.

Its a good vid but the platform weakness has a problem, Up smash can pressure shield and even punish platform tech rolls. And now recently(even prior to when this video came out), platforms are now mac's combo areas with jablock dair. hence you see mac players not always go FD. Cause in FD, projectile campers have great advantage than BF or any platform stages since mac can just ignore projectiles by sitting on platforms then run down to punish. Again good video on showing mac's weakness

Bro, the worst character? WTH? It's the only character that I had to look for guide to. Maybe is because my friend uses him well, but we all hate when he uses it because of the counters. This character has 2 or 3 different counters and they all hit super hard. Also most of his attacks are either really fast or deal a lot of damage and have shield, so hitting him is really hard if he knows what he is doing. I straight up hate this guy lol.
