Rainy Day Boxing brings you an in depth beginner tutorial on the legendary Peek A Boo boxing style, created by Cus D'Amato and made famous by Iron Mike Tyson. Rainy Day Boxing Patreon / rainydayboxing
Had to reupload this for all you peekaboo fanatics out there. I also had to re-edit it after it was taken down due to copyright issues with some of the footage I used. I was able to find some clearer bits of Tyson training and I hope I did a better job at mixing the sound together this time. Hope you all enjoy!
@@tomohawkcloud you know that your comment tells me a lot about u. You're way off bro leave people alone. If you're going to make a negative comment don't make me comment. You're off
Best training team in boxing history? Delusional. Mike hasn’t even accomplished anything near the greatness of other boxers, how is his team the greatest if his accomplishments even aren’t. You simps.
@@theworkethic Tyson won the championship at 20, United the belts and cleaned out the division all while holyfeild and Lennox Lewis were in little league. Tyson destroyed fighters who had never been beaten and he was the highest paid boxer of all time because he was amazing to watch and destroyed a lot of good fighters. Even after being on drugs and rusting in prison he still came back beating most of the same guys Lennox Lewis was fighting.
Yes they were the best training team They taught Tyson the best defence at ducking inside the ring and how to duck foreman and David tua and ray mercer outside of the ring
“I tell them as soon as they start, if they do their job as well as I do mine, the result is a foregone conclusion”. Love this quote by Cus. Confidence is the ultimate key behind all his teachings. Thanks for another amazing video my brother! 💪
His jab is a work of art. I'm constantly impressed by the small details in the style and the things he perfected with Cus. That rapid fire jab, even though Mike had extremely short reach compared to his HW opponents was effective and a thing of beauty.
It's safe to say that Mike Tyson could've very easily been the first undefeated undisputed heavy weight champion. But after his trainer and father figure passed away Don king and many greedy people went after him.
@@giovelazquez8872you don't known what you talk about. Technique is planted in this men's dna. Never ever he would forget his technique, boxing is the only thing he has known in his life.
@@giovelazquez8872I disagree with this bold claim. The most important part of training that absolutely any coach will teach you is controlling your emotions. Tantrums lose fights. Discipline in the ring wins fight. If you think Tyson made it as far as he did without controlling his emotions you’re crazy.
Nobody will ever be like mike but I’d love to get his knowledge in not just his boxing but how to stay humble and kind. He’s an inspiration to me and how he became such a good man.
That leverage Mike Tyson was referring to was insane, he didn’t need to fully extend his arm to deliver maximum punishment, he delivered deadly punches with elbow still bent.
Best style for short heavyweights; punches thrown at all angles with shifting footwork. Tyson had awesome punching power and ring cardio fitness. A bigger skilled puncher boxer who backed him up he always struggled with.
He never struggled with anyone till after the prison break bro. There were a cpl that went the distance but I think mike was punishing them vs knocking them out.
Cus was like those old kung fu masters who trained his students with his style to defeat all the other masters and their styles to reign as the most dominant style.
The number system is simple but brilliant. The saying about "the best chin is the one that doesn't get hit", is a good one. I've been knocked down by guys a lot bigger than me and and got up every time. I was knocked out by one guy, one time, who was my weight. He was fast and precise. I learned the hard way to work on head movement 😅.
To me,boxing is one hell of a martial art and I have immense appreciation for it's amazing beauty and power. I wish you safe and victorious bouts and great success in your venture.
Thank you for editing and mastering this great documentary on Mike Tyson! I could watch Tyson training videos all day long - he was a BEAST in his prime - my GOAT 🐐 Thank you - from the UK 🇬🇧🫡
A whole short documentary, lesson and breakdown ALL IN ONE! Great video this, I’m a level 1 Coach in my country and I look up all styles. On my way to creating my own unorthodox movement of the body. Got one fighter using it and it works, just need a few adjustments
the "mean" style is what impress me , almost a dirty fight! many thanks! epic doc, everything very well done, the soundtrack, editing, script and narration!!
It's a huge compliment for me to hear that even a tutorial video of mine can be enjoyed by someone who isn't the biggest of boxing fans, thank you Gordon!
Did Cus invent peak-a-boo? If so, it's tragic but poetic that the pedagogy of this style died with him, and we only have a legacy of such through Mike Tyson. It's like in the movies. Tyson is the last student.
@@dopefreshnation4097 I heard that Teddy Atlas knows the style and has taught Tim Bradley. But I don't think Teddy specialized in peak-a-boo. I hope Mike picks a close associate and teaches everything he knows about it.
@@timperalta9430 let’s be honest in a fighter’s perspective would you take atlas’s version of peek a boo style who might have the basic elements down (still helpful) or Tyson who actually perfected the style because Cus engraved every piece of boxing knowledge into him
@@dopefreshnation4097Tyson’s, for sure. That’s the closest you can get from learning with Cus. But I don’t think he will devote his time in passing it. He would, from time to time. He’d probably beat me if I make a mistake lol. But Teddy has been teaching for a living. Yet, he doesn’t really have Tyson’s knowledge in peak-a-boo. Teddy would incorporate his own style to Tyson’s. Tyson is a purist.
Teddy Atlas explains some of the style but he doesnt adhere to peek-a-boo for the fighters he's trained. He's good to listen to on stories about Cus and his mental training philosophy other than that Joey Hadley is much better a teacher on the style than Atlas.
Finally, this video has been Re-uploaded, I was wondering what happened to the first one. I'm so happy it's back up This video just shows how stupidly overpowered mike tyson was with peek-a-boo style. Mike Tyson was unbeatable in his prime. I really need this video so I could prefect my peek-a-boo style. 🙏🏿
@RainyDayBoxing thanks you, so much, brother. I had been looking for this video when it got copyrighted, but I'm glad to see this video is back up 🙏🏿🤝🏿, you should make a video of Floyd Patterson's Peek-a-boo style.
If Mike had stayed fully dedicated to the sport of boxing, there is no telling what he could’ve achieved in his book he said he never got over the death of cus those of the guys were just trying to take a vantage of the golden goose, but cus truly cared about him guys like Jim Jacobs wanted to take it advantage of him Jim Jacobs didn’t even tell him he had a terminal illness that tells you all you need to know about him
Getting rid of Rooney and getting the don king carnival show in was tyson’s biggest mistake once King moved in with his trainers you could see the peek a boo style was basically non existent it’s sad but Tyson was his own downfall
Jim Jacobs, Bill Cayton, and Kevin Rooney were the perfect trifecta setup to support Mike after Cus passing. Jim Jacobs loved Mike and there was no way he was fucking him over. Don King came in using the race card and pried his team apart along with Robin Givens Mike lost the love for the sport and started to implode with drugs and alcohol.
To fight like mike tyson, you have to be very physically strong and not everyone has the genétics to be so and the other you have a specific height to be able to turn your hips and body quickly
Bro he worked his ass off every day for years and years …. He was seeing a hypnotist as a young teenager to help With his mental game basically brainwashing himself into believing he’s the best and a champ etc and it worked lol That ain’t genetics bruh that’s hard work man ….
Thank you as always Michael my friend! I was surprised by how hard I found it to stay motivated to re-edit this old video, happy to be able to work on some new content next! 🥊
