HOW TO FIX YOUR MUSCLE-UP (NO MORE KIPPING)

Welcome back again everyone! Here in this video we get down to business and fix those muscle-ups to make them as clean as possible! Be sure to Subscribe for more!
Step 1. Locking Arms - A quick exercise to try out to help you start extending your arms fully before pulling up. Jump to the bar from a foot away, grab the bar w/ bent arms, then extend arms out as you swing forward.
Step 2. Extend Legs- Well just be changing the way we kip to help the muscle up not only look better but get stronger. Kip with extended legs
Step 3. Decrease Kip- Slowly letting go the amount of kip needed to get over the bar. Jump to the bar from 2-3 feet away to gather some momentum then muscle up with a lower amount of kip than usual.
Step 4. Delete Kip- In the video I gave a demonstration on a technique that helps get use to using no kip in muscle ups. Grab bar, walk on toes as far back as you can which shouldn't be much. Lift feet up to gather a small swing then muscle up. Or stand under bar, jump, grab, then muscle up.

I thought the same until I recorded myself. I was wrong :( Still bending my knees. And I cant get rid of it.

I've been doing these since before CrossFit was a thing. I called them cliff hangers. I'd do them from a hang with no momentum. I used to say, if you can't go straight up then you wouldn't be able to pull yourself up on the edge of a cliff.

Very good tips. I did my first muscle up nearly a year ago and now do 20 (in sets of 4 or 5) every day. I've been wondering how to leave out the knee bend and, thanks to you, now I know! I hope to get there before my 68th birthday in 6 weeks. Thanks a lot!

How many kipping muscle ups do you recommend being able to do before starting clean up the form? I can do 4-5 when fresh for a few sets.

Nice man, thats what I did! Making videos with my home bars in the future too! Yeah, it's easier to get 1 muscle up on rings vs 1 muscle up on the bar. But when we you start doing more, its harder to keep going on rings vs bar. Rings are nothing but strict form, a kip cant even be used lol

How long does it roughly take to get from your first kipping muscle up to a clean form muscle up

Hmm well I found it took me about another month or so to be able to muscle up everyday from my first muscle up. Then about another 1.5-3 to loose the kip and begin working weighted. But it all depends on you. That was me training without any knowledge 5x a week.

Hey dude the problem is that with straight locked arms I can touch the ground :/ I am 1.85 meters tall, and some bars are to high for me to practice smoothly

No worries bro, there’s always a way to train. You could try bringing some sort of stool, it could even be a 5 gallon bucket. If not, you could hang of the bar and swing just a little bit.

I usually aim for pointed that way it’s a habit for me when doing handstand. It’s all cosmetic in my opinion, as it won’t really make a difference in your muscle up.

After I first learned it I made it my goal to not loose it, so yes everyday I would try doing a few. If anything, at least one. After a month or so of concluding I have locked in a muscle-up even if it wasn’t super clean I went back to strength training doing stuff like weighted pull ups and high bar pull-ups and doing less muscle-ups. Then after a while I went back to focus on muscle up variations with the new strength I gained .. Going for stuff like weighted / wide muscle ups.
