I have that console piece of plastic just haven’t had time to do this mod, your close up pictures are soooo helpful. There’s some cable connectors you can get to convert to a USB port, It was in one of the forum posts. Thanks Man!

thank you for uploading this video. I followed it through but cbf removing the connectors. instead I just cut the cable off. so far everything seems to be good.

Wish I had known how to do this when I had my X1 great little tip.....👍

After removing, I dremelled off most of the plastic, keeping the hinge part and the flap that extends down over top part of the hole. Then I superglued a piece of rubber over the hole and re-installed the hinge. For a cover you could also cut a piece of the plastic from the tray - you can just score the plastic and bend to snap. Camouflages it nicely.
