How To Replace LG Freezer Drawer Ice Maker 

Thank you for this video. I would not have attacked this project had you not made it look possible. Ordered the part ahead of time, made sure it was a duplicate of the old and it took about 30 minutes, including disassembly ( and cleaning) and reassembly of the drawers and door. You didn't show that part! 🤔 I would not have attempted this without you!

I'm 75 and 215 lbs and had very little problem doing the job without removing the drawer. Surprisingly, the hardest part for my old fingers was pressing the tab to release the plug. I thought I would just leave it out while waiting for the new icemaker, but the one in the door apparently will not work unless the one in the freezer is plugged in.

when i replaced mine i found the problem to be a buildup of calcium in the ice tray that was preventing cubes from dropping out thus leanving cubes in the tray after dump cycle causing tray to overfill and dump water into the bin. i filled the cube tray with vinegar for 5 minutes rinsed wth clean water and dried with paper towels now the cube tray is smooth again so i can now have 2 good ice makers so when the new one starts making icebergs i can just swap it out and repeat procedure. it takes longer to empty and remove top drawer than it does to swap out the icemaker

Not sure what inexpensive is, but when I priced a replacement it was $238 for the part. After watching other vids, decided the water supply was too much. To calibrate how much water was coming into tray, pull inlet hose out of the back, hit reset manually, measure the water that comes out. I was able to retrieve one cube from my slabbed over tray, melted it down to "normal" size which turned out to be 1/2 oz. So for a 12 cube tray, 6 oz of water is what was needed to fill tray. I adjusted the water line valve, and no more over spray. You can start with 6 oz as a guide for your ice maker, or try to freeze a cube, thaw and measure it. No more overspray or icebergs. First, there is no need to replace the ice maker, but it may be stuck because of frozen ice that does not allow movement. Enter the freezer compartment below and tap on the ice maker, then press the trial button on the side. It will rotate and pour the ice, then press again for a second trial, this is return. Everything in its place

Does the orange water line in the back connect to anything? Or is it just lose and pushed into the back?

Is someone able to share the part number for the freezer drawer icemaker? I had water coming out of the back of the fridge throught the water inlet. Cant tell if it needs defrosting or replacement.. thank you in advance

Good video thanks. Did you ever figure out why it makes the icebergs. Ours does the same thing. We did learn that if we close the drawer slowly it helps. My wife would just let it kind of slam closed so I though maybe it was causing the water to spill out of the trays. But that didn’t happen when it was new???

Lol funny guy. Thinking of not even setting up the water in the ice dispenser and just make my own ice cubes with distilled water. I’m going to have wood floors in my new house. I can’t afford leaks underneath the refrigerator leaking inside the refrigerator. And the filters i hear are like $50. Can I do that? I’m looking at model LRFLC2706S. No exterior water and icemaker. Can you let me know what your model is and any other problems you’re having with it? Thank you.

Can you replace\ upgrade it to the spherical ice instead?
