Mine has spots . What can I do? I am in San Diego and it’s on a pot. It’s producing flowers very nicely but brown spots on the leaves

Hi Chauuc, If the black plastic pot does not provide good drainage, would you recommend to use the fabric pot? I have a small yard, and my third year Michelia Alba X has been growing in a 20 gallon fabric pot, in zone 10B (California, USA). At some point, I would need to root prune it. Would you consider putting more videos on the maintenance of Michelia Alba X growing in a pot (e.g., when and how on general pruning, root pruning, propagation etc.) ? Thank you.

Fabric pot is fine but well drainage is crucial, put some perlite or rocks at the bottom and put the pot on a grate. I will be doing more videos on this tree and I'd love to share them with you.

Hey Chau, whereabouts in Melb are you? I'm around Springvale, wondering if you sell your grafted Michelia Alba X. My parents in Sydney have a beautiful tree and I've been looking for one in Melb but there are not many around. I have an aunty who has a small plant but its not likely i can do any air layering or grafting with it unfortunately. Thanks for the video. I've always loved this flower and hope to own one soon!

Hi Leng, I'm in West Melbourne and I haven't got a tree for sale. Despite this tree popularity not many nursey stock them however some nursey can do a special order for you. Is yours look healthy? If it is then I won't worry too much about it. You could try fertilizer to encourage new grow and greener leaf only if your tree is healthy.

I just bought a tree and I'm in zone 10b southern California. The leaves are turning white and paper thin. Do you know what it could be?

Hello, this tree is evergreen so if it is not green then there is something wrong and I never seen the leaves turning white. If it is not a short answer that you seek, then I'd need more info... what is the weather like right now, a few leaves are turning white or most of them, watering habit... etc

I didn't get any specific answers to help a dying michelia Alba. We planted one in ground about 4 months ago and the leaves are all turning brown and curly and fallen off. It has enough water and the nursery told us it's natural for it to drop leaves as it's considered a deciduous. But a friend planted one about the same time and it's still full of leaves. We live in northern California area. What can we do?

How is it natural that the leaves are all turning brown and curly and fallen off? Yours is going down hill and here is what you need to do, stop water your plant. It is true that your plant needs water because the leaves are drying but I think you have a root rot situation that the plant is unable to collect the water it need so sadly it is slowly dying. I know that you love your plant and when you said enough water is often means too much water. I live in San Jose, Ca, and grow my Alba in a pot. My alba leaves drop every year and they grow back again starting in the spring. I think this is normal for Albas in our region. Also, I've been growing mine for about 7 years. I would like to learn how to propagate them. Any sugggestions ?

Hello, I love your video. I am from India,. I have a 70 year old M. Champa. Alba. The tree has suddenly defoloated and looks dry. This has never happened to the tree. Please, please help me revive the tree.

I'd say it is a well established tree but since the issue I'd recommend you to inspect the sounding soil for any excessive source of water and try to isolate it. If you found the soil is too dry, watering it would help.

Your solution is mulch and water but you’re not telling us anything with regard to fertilizer. Water it but don’t water it too much. Mulch it but don’t mulch it too much. Wtf does this even mean?
