I had my absolute interview last week and they asked 4 questions -what does success mean to you? -what environment do you thrive in? -share an experience when you were about to loose a customer, but got them back. -share an experience when you performed better than your co-workers.

I was the only one who showed up to my group interview but unfortunately I didn’t get chosen to move forward. The questions were not the formal questions or anything I’ve been prepared for. I think my interviewer was very tired or he was on to peoples repetitive answers but the questions he asked was: How do you define success? Tell me about a time you worked on something without your colleagues. What is something you are good at? Tell me about yourself? When have you faced an unexpected difficulty? Describe an interesting problem and how you solved it. My advice would be prepare your webex a day in advance Breathe, don’t be nervous 😬 (I know it’s hard but just think of it as a conversation) Don’t prepare just be yourself and answer the questions truthfully but professional and don’t get too personal because I think they trick people into believing they are making you comfortable but they are assessing how lose you will get. I have to say this video along with the one that was uploaded two months ago and the “why Apple” video SAVED ME. I have not received a callback since I just completed it but my confidence with the answers, especially compared to the other people who were being interviewed, Truly confirmed that I was ready to answer those questions. THE ONLY ONE That I heard that I hadn’t heard of in other videos was the following question:(More or less, I’m paraphrasing here) “Tell me about a time where other people failed and how you achieved” I personally spoke about “recovery guests”, When you receive a guest who was previously upset about another issue unrelated to you but now they’ve been passed on to you. Which I branched off into a customer service answer about keeping customer loyalty. Another really good response i heard was. “Failure is subjective , My colleague and I both had to present a solution, and although my report had less issues, we worked together to help make her proposal possible, In the end both of us succeeded.” Small note, I suppose every interviewer is different. My interview were jumped immediately into the questions and did not express anything about himself or any sort of introduction really but ourselves either so just be ready for that!

I’m not sure where my original comment went from the other video I commented on but here’s an update from the last one. I scored my first apple interview and did great with the tips from your videos! Now i’m onto the second one, which is the group interview and i’m going to start preparing now :) Also thank you so much for all these tips, they helped with my nervousness, alongside with answering the questions and I will definitely practice using these videos for the second one as well!

Hey Ben, I just had my phone interview and fortunately, I made it to Phase 1! The interview was shorter than the 20 mins I expected because she claimed the it would only take about 15 mins. All questions she asked were more or less similar to the ones you’ve shared in this series which has definitely helped. The only question she asked that I don’t recall hearing in this series is this: “Tell me about a time you were given a goal you had to reach.” I used the S.T.A.R method to answer this question on the quicks. Overall, I think the interview went well along with closing. Thank you Ben.

Hi Ben - thanks for the great video and tips. Unfortunately I did not watch this until after, as I was not expecting a group interview, so that in itself was a huge surprise. A few notes on my experience today. There were 6 - yes 6 candidates and one Apple team member from the store. She said she was expecting only 2 people, so that seemed a bit odd, her not knowing how many people were going to be interviewed. Also, The interviewer did not select the order of people to answer each question or call on people - she just asked the question and then she left it with us to decide when to step up, which honestly was very awkward. I chose to answer at different times in the rotation so I was not always first or last. There was the Why Apple question natch, but then the other 3 questions were Behavior questions - tell me about a time you solved a problem no one else could solve was one. Tell me about a time you learned something new. Tell me about a time when you did not have a solution and had to wing it .... No role playing questions, no which product would you be, no Angry customer question. At the end of the interview she did open it up for questions. I asked her what the best thing was about working for Apple, and she said all the benefits. Hope that my experience helps others - Cheers :).

Apple asked me a lot of questions about myself and my motivation -> why Apple. One specific question I remember was about a big change in my life in the last year and about a Challange I had to overcome. They love it when you describe it in detail from start to end. Be yourself and try to seem approachable like you would to customers and smile :) If you have a passion about something related to Apple products or services you can use that topic to your advantage and show them that you can share your excitement with their customers. @@gangis_tv Vielen Dank!! Mein Interview lief leider etwas anders als gedacht und es war mit fünf anderen Kandidaten zusammen, also das zweite Gruppen Interview. Ich würde sagen es lief ganz gut und der Store Leader meinte wir bekommen innerhalb von einem Tag eine Rückmeldung. Das war vor zwei Tagen. Ich hoffe das ist kein schlechtes Zeichen haha

I have my 2nd group interview tomorrow but my first one had no role playing and they threw me off with this question. “Tell me about a time when you where stranded with no resolution?”. The manager gave us like a whole minute to think because it was so difficult to figure out what they were looking for in this question. It would be really great to shine some light on this question however your general advice and apples values has really helped answer questions I didn’t prepare for. @@bellot1 I didn’t own a single Apple product prior to working there, so you’re already better off than I was 😂 Their hiring motto is “We can teach you computers, but we can’t teach you to be nice.” Focus on being personable and you’ll be fine. I enjoyed my time at Apple. I would definitely say it’s entry level retail and tech support. If you’re going the Genius Bar route like I did, just know all of the repair is modular and there won’t be anything in depth like soldering or board repair. Pretty easy work, everything is super well documented and if you ever are unsure about something never feel ashamed to ask. It’s better you learn something new and help the customer rather than trying to figure it out yourself and potentially messing something up. As far as sales (which everyone has to do at the beginning), being knowledgeable about the products is very important. One of the questions you will hear most is “what’s different about the new iPhone compared to the last one? why should I upgrade?” Study the product pages on the website and learn the differences, learn everything you can. If you ever don’t know something, don’t just make it up. Find a coworker and learn something with the customer together, that will make your next interaction that much better. Another tip that helps a lot, learn basic troubleshooting. Knowing how to hard reset a device, clean speakers out, etc can save the customer and the Genius Bar a lot of time. You’d be surprised how often people make appointments for simple fixes. The Genius Bar will thank you! Best of luck on your interview. Just keep cool and you’ll be fine. Even if you don’t get it this time, there’s always next time. The stores hire pretty often, and you’re allowed to interview as many times as you want.

Yes and no! Great question, I might make a video on this actually! But I would say it’s like a “wild card” question, use it to include info you were hoping to get to share but didnt. Maybe it’s about a hobby or passion that is relevant to the work. Or, maybe it’s an accomplishment that would reflect well on a candidate for the role, you! That’s how I would use it!

I will say I recently did the process and it was pretty easy. Still a wild experience. I had to do two group interviews (1 we had two separate links, 2 went very smooth), for my final interview I had 2 people (me and another candidate) it took about 1 month to get the first interview, 3 days until 2nd round, (another 2 weeks for a reschedule) and 1 day for Final interview. Total 4 interviews

I always say it’s better to be overdressed than underdressed. When you say reading questions, I think it’s ok. In the past I’ve actually said “I’ve written down some questions, do you mind if I grab my paper and ask a few?”.

in the email they sent me, they said business casual so i guess not a suit and tie but also not a t-shirt. and i am sure interviewers are well aware we can read off of our screen but that's the upside/downside of virtual interviews, it's to your discretion if you want to risk reading like a robot or if you can do it naturally and just use it as a buffer rather than a cheat sheet :)

It was a webex and Q&A panel with few Apple employees and various applicants. I'm not sure if this is common for one of the interview stages? So I don't know how they decide who passes to next stage or not and I'm not sure where I stand in terms of interview stage😅

Hey Ben, thank you so much for this valuable information. I am interested in your opinion regarding the following : my boyfriend is working at one of the Apple stores in the same city, I’m not applying for work in his specific store but in another . All things equal and supposed my interview goes well, would you say it has any positive or negative aspects in mentioning my boyfriend is working in that store ? There is kind of an Apple insider program for workers to bring their friends as future-workers, but I wanted to try it on my own without his recommendation.. Thank you so much !

I actually don’t. I’ve never interviewed someone who had a second in person interview but someone else just mentioned they have one as well. Pretty interesting. I told them to keep preparing as they have been. Good luck! Let me know how it goes!

@@BenTalksTalent It was abit more casual than the first interview. They still asked the ‘why apple’ question as usual but the other two questions were about hobbies and favourite apple product. Lucky enough they liked me and I got the job! Your videos helped alot!

@@Hitman-hn6sh It took me a few hours. Don't worry if you don't get it yet because I believe its only bad if they send an email rejecting you which is typically a day after a bad interview. I'm not sure about the phases? where are you from ?

Hey I’ve been watching your apple videos and they’ve been super helpful! I ended up making it past the group interview to a one on one interview. At the end she said they’d give me call if they’re any potential job offers available. However, I got the call today and they said unfortunately their weren’t any positions open at this time, but asked if I would like to be put on a waitlist. I said yes and they said they’d let me know when a position opened up that they thought I was a fit for. Was this a rejection or am I genuinely on a waitlist? Anyways it was a great learning experience and I thank you a lot for these videos!

Hi Ryan, it sounds genuine to me. There would be no reason to tell you that if it wasn’t legit. If you think about it, they have to hire a bunch of people and sometimes they find a bunch of good candidates and don’t end up needing everyone they started with. It’s sounds like that is what happened here. Hopefully they need you soon! And you are welcome! Happy to help!

A recent hire at Apple told me her final interview, which came right after the group interview, was just a different store lead asking many of the same questions she had already been asked. She said it was pretty easy actually. Let me know how it goes for you!

I would apply online. If you go in store they probably suggest you do that anyway. And I think the odds are good. Prior retail experience should help but there are a lot of factors. Is the location close to you hiring, are there many applicants etc. And you are very welcome, Liam!

I submitted my application online and updated my Jobs Profile as well first. Then I walked into the 2 Apple stores in my county, brought in a cover letter and my resume and asked to deliver them to their hiring manager. I was introduced to the store managers, they explained to me how the process goes about contacting people who have submitted apps online (they look at profiles when a store needs hires) and then they let me know that they'd make sure the resume/cover letter got to the right person. I did this on a Friday, and the following Monday morning I had an invitation for a phone interview. I would highly recommend bringing in your resume and cover letter in an envelope. Be sure to specify in your cover letter that your profile online and application is all up to date as well.

I would play up the fact that you deal with people and help people at your job. A lot of the job is being friendly, approachable and making the customers feel welcome. If you can do that, you will do well. Your trampoline park work probably has some overlap!

Great Video! I just received an email that they won’t be moving me forward a day after the group interview. I thought I did really well and even the hiring manager who was interviewing my group said that to me. It seemed like she knew I stood out from the group ( in a good way ofc). Thanks for the very informative videos, I have a question related to references. In term of apple retail, would getting a reference from an emplyee increase my changes of getting an interview by alot? and is it worth it to talk to the emplyees and build a connection to request for a reference? Thanks :)

I don’t think it would honestly! If you interview well, that’s really all you need here in this environment. At least that’s my perspective!

I faded away in the background 😆 I honestly did not care. The hiring manager was biased and made it clear he was looking for ex Starbucks and chic fil a employees because of their customer service skill.

Hello sir, I'm from India 🇮🇳. In India we have a degree named as MCA(Master of Computer Application). Does Apple allow MCA student to be placed in the company ? Or MSc. in Computer science is preferred ? Btw, love your contents....

So the people I have spoken with to create these videos have said it’s not a group, it’s a one on one with the hiring manager and relatively chill. So if you prepare like normal you should be good. Thanks for watching and commenting! Let mr know how it goes!

@@BenTalksTalent Hi Ben, it was surprisingly with five other candidates and actually structured exactly like the first group interview. The store leader said this is the last interview step and we will probably get feedback tomorrow. That was two days ago I hope this is not a bad sign that I was not taken. Out of the other five candidates, only me and one other asked questions at the end. That should be positive for me, right?

Hey! First off, your videos are LIFE SAVERS! This definitely helped me prepare~ I just finished my first group interview. However, I was the only one in attendance, so I was asked quite a few questions. I also did not do a role-play. I also had 5 questions prepared at the end of my interview as well. Overall, I thought it went really well as I was confident in all my answers and hopefully will hear from them soon. The questions I was asked: Asked about me/hobbies? Why Apple? What apple product is your favorite? What kind of apps/games do I use on my ipad? What was your most fulfilling Job? What's my availability? What's my schedule looking when school starts? Asked what I plan on doing after I graduate from college? Do you watch jeopardy? (threw me for a loop as I thought it was really random 😆) Tell me a time you dealt with a difficult situation, and what you did to help solve it. Who was your favorite manager? If you were to run the office, what aspects of being the manager make you better than that manager? Describe yourself in 3 words. Not sure how to interpret those questions, but again, I did everything in my power to answer confindently, and honestly. Again, thank you for these! It really helped me not just for apple, but with future endeavors as well 😁

Update: just got scheduled for the second interview! Yay. It's supposedly 15min long. Not sure what to make of that. Any insight would be great 🙂.
