We nearly bought the Kona. But the model 3 at the time was the same price. Seeing this gives me incredible appreciation for how advanced the tesla trip computer and infotainment system is. This feels like a normal car just electric. Great video.

I like the Kona EV so much that we drove from NC to GA to purchased one. On 02/05/22, I bought a 2019 Kona EV Ult with only 207 miles on it. It was a "demo" car. On Sunday, 02/06/22 car died on me twice!! I was at the dealership first thing Monday morning. The bad thing is this - I LIKE the car. The drive back from GA was very nice.

Hopefully you'll have less problems in the future

You drive the Kona just like I used to drive mine and we get similar results. Did you know, BTW, that neutral gear in the Kona gives even less regen than "regen level zero"? I found this out by watching the energy screen, noticing that even "coasting" in level zero yields 2kw regen 😲 while neutral gear is pure 0 kw energy exchange.

I'm hesitating using Neutral while the car is in motion as with most cars some safety features only work when in "Gear".

What is neutral gear?

@@falcorzed in Kona, but I think it's the case for all EVs out there, you'd put the car in N (neutral) if you want to get your car towed in case something happened. I think this is the same also for automatic cars, where the car can free-roll on the streets by letting gravity do its thing.

Great vid. Thanks. New Ioniq 5 owner here. What’s the most efficient way for motorway driving to a max of 130kph? I usually go cruise control but is it better to regener zero with speed limiter on, or just regen zero without cruise control or limiter?

Thanks. If you use adaptive cruise-control the problem is CC only reacts to whats happening directly in front of the car, whereas a good driver looks much further ahead, if necessary can coast and avoid braking and re-accelerating. In light traffic I use cc, in heavier traffic I tend not to.

I'd really like to learn more tips for efficient "motorway" driving. Here in the US the speed limits are 70mph: going slower than that can be dangerous, but you had mentioned a 130kph speed limit near you, so what tips would you have? I've been drafting off of trucks.... not ideal.

70 mph (113 kph) is just the perfect cruising speed for EVs (seriously, I just read an article about that, on average for most EVs between 110 and 120 kph there is the tipping point for wind resistance being a much bigger force than others, like rolling resistance and gravity). I'd never recommend to draft off trucks, but if the truck is going at perfect speed it might just be coincidental to sit behind one ;) IMO the most important thing is to keep a steady speed and avoid braking (even if you regen) and reaccelerating.

Use cruise control. sometimes you’re going 45 and Two bars of power but you drop to 44 on cruise and you’re using no bars then back up to 45 and you’re didn’t go up in bars.
