For the story where the wife's friend suggested OP was only helping because he wanted an affair is really bad. He sent a very bland text and she responded with an accusation. Yes, she had a "bad day" and some might think he's overreacting. But remember just an accusation of wrong doing could destroy his life. She could get mad and accuse him of something that could get him arrested, lose his job and family. If he does agree to help her again, he needs to record every time he's alone with her. What she did wasn't the worst, but a pretty big red flag. Edit: after finishing the story, I'm 100% sure I'm right. She even took his distancing as "oh, he wants to cheat with me and just feels rejected". I would bet money she would "test" him and come onto him to see if he did try to cheat. Op and his wife need go stay far away.

Story 1: I don't think the mom's comment was to cause any harm. I think she meant it as " I'm glad to see you as happy as you once were, that you found someone that makes you as happy as your laid wife once did". Amanda's insecurities were the ones that twisted that comment around and took it to a whole new level as saying "well, I'm glad she is dead"

about the first story: silly things come out of peoples mouth from time to time, before clearly thinking it through. i don't know about others, but if that horrible statement would have escaped my mouth, i would have been instantly mortified and ever appologetic for saying that. he doesn't mention her aknowledging or apologizing for that, at least in the pre-update part of the story, and that is for me the actual red flag about the fiance.

I knew the first story was going to end badly and with them separating. Questions of "do you think we would be together if your wife was still alive" (the answer was going to be no sense op said she was the love of his life). That question on reddit always ends badly because either op is still in live with a ghost making his new partner jealous or new partner is fighting a ghost for op to prove their better than a ghost.

I think she deserved a conversation before the internet. They were engaged, so that means they were a lot further along in their bond than just seeing each other. It's definitely a one sided perspective... kids arent always comfortable with their parents moving on. People often put the onus on the incoming woman, i guess because of evil stepmother tropes, but realizing where they've contributed to any problems. In all, it was best they broke up. The family wasn't right for Amanda and she wasn't right for them.

2:05:30 Helping the single mother story: he could have answered that he is actually getting something out of it and just referred to it making his own wife happy. That was way she would have known that this guy was in it for his own wife, not for her she who her real friend was. This would have allowed him to keep his wife happy while also prevent any miscommunication going forward ...

There are times when some things said are just plain unnecessary. Yeah, you can say it, but is it necessary? The story with Jane doesn't sound remotely like cheating to me, but it does sound like a toxic/needy friendship!! Possibly with a crush, but it could easily just be platonic with terrible boundaries. I don't care for spicy content that much, but am happy to talk to friends about it if it's in their current interests (plus I can enforce personal boundaries about that discussion while still being open and kind to my friends who are more comfortable with it). Plus this sounds like all of booktok discussions honestly lol. I have friends that would never discuss their spicy life and I have friends who would share everything. It sounds a lot like normal girl talk, but with an extreme level of dependence/neediness on Jane's part.

My now-husband and I went to different high schools in the same home town. Several of his current best friends were guys that I had gone to elementary and middle school with and were chill acquaintances (I was pretty introverted at that time, but I knew who the good guys were). So it was definitely major pluses for my then-boyfriend/ now-husband to see that he had genuinely good guy friends that I had known prior to ever meeting him. It’s honestly a bit trippy since now I’m attending their weddings, when I never thought I’d see them again after high school 😂 now I get second hand updates about their lives or hang out as a friend group frequently So yeah, I think your partner’s friends can say a lot about them. There were definitely some people I went to school with that were… not the best (to put it lightly). I’d have some concern if those guys were his closest friends. (Not to say that people can’t change of course, but it can create some concern/ skepticism)

I honestly hate all the hate that the neurodivergent not-right-cake guy is getting. Like, he is clearly trying. And just because you may be neurodivergent, that DOES NOT mean that other people have the same side effects from it. Some people need you to repeat the things you want a lot. My fiancé is adhd and it has taken 7 years of me repeating certain things for them to stick. I am also neurodivergent and sometimes have a hard time saying things in a way that others would understand, and it is very easy to misinterpret what I say. I also sometimes don’t hear things the right way, and I have to ask and honestly what I thought they said is often super embarrassing lol everyone needs to give that guy a break

The mother's comment is extremely inappropriate but of course wasn't the reason. I see that this man is very insecure as well. Since he couldn't make a decision and needs a feed back from his children. That is a major red flag. Not defending this woman but I am convinced that the whole atmosphere pushed her to that. On the other hand it has been get decision to stay in such unhealthy conditions. I see hints of toxic relationships between the father and the children who are pretty much grown up and should really move out.

I feel like the one about the wife being friend with a bi-sexual women is some serious bi-phobia on the husbands side. If he has a boundary with what his wife shares about their relationship, within reason, that’s fine. But a straight women being close to a bi-women is absolutely fine and awesome. What on earth is wrong with him. I’m sure my gal pals have left stuff in my room when we are hanging out too 🙄 so wierd.
@brag0001
@brag0001 День назад
Her very obviously hitting on his wife is what set him off. Her being bi was merely mentioned to explain why he thought it wasn't innocent. His wife perceived it the same way. What's wrong with you seeing bi-phobia where merely some healthy boundaries are enforced? I would personally be fine with my wife exploring that side of hers if it existed. But it's perfectly ok not to feel that way and has nothing to do with bi-phobia ...

48:24 OK, so how old is the Grandma?I forgot if that was mentioned.My question is , is she having mental issues like her mental decline or whatever? I mean , she could just be an entitle let's seeee 54:09 Okay.So older sister who hates Grandma is on the Grandma side.That's a big red flag right there , especially since most of the family has been no contact with the grandma for reasons that they're not telling us. And if the older sister also said the brother needs to be put in line. Maybe the brother has always been a little bit more of an entitled brat. And even OP mentions that in the beginning that he's more of a troublemaker. What kind of things does he do? What has he done old people have very hard times with rambunctious and young children. Especially with young boys who often get the pass of boys will be boys. Even if that is not set out loud, just subconsciously, we tolerate more. From boys then we do from little girls. Old people are sore.They can get hurt easy.They can have their bruises and blood vessels.Rupture and all sorts of things very easy.I remember when my little brother was born.My grandma didn't mind him over but would not babysit him until he was three and he was just Too much for her to handle in her age. And when he started stealing stuff. Or trying out new things and just breaking into him. The things that she had made and accomplished in her li've sure ask kids have broken things here or there but the amount of things he broke and what he broke like. I literally remember my brother breaking a horse. Hoof picknife that I had gotten a couple months ago I still to this day. Have no f****** idea how he broke that the way that he did. It's literally like when people say he could break a ball pin hammer he could!! 57:57 OK, so the brother was literally going to go with his friends and egg Grandma's house. No, that's a big red flag. Yeah, I know that can be seen as normal teenager stuff, but literally like I mentioned above he might be getting a pass for boys, will be boys kind of thing. They've pretty much been no contact with the Grandma. And this is one instance where he's not trapped or forced to meet up with her, but for some reason he's having a visceral physical reaction, why? What is being left out? What else is going on? This does not make any f****** sense for it to escalate to him. Doing that? Maybe he is a little entitled brat. Maybe Grandma's f****** insane and has done something before. But there's a lot of shit being left out and now i'm starting to believe the narrator is unreliable. So 1:01:03 The Grandma is jealous of her own daughter because she made her own daughter compete in beauty pageants and her own daughter. One of you where the Grandma and her youth never won any that doesn't sound right? I mean, it could be on point, but it doesn't sound like what most beauty pageant mom's are alike. They see their children as an extension of themselves, which is why they force them into those pageants, to, in a way we live their life through their kids or flaunt their kids as a piece of them. Not saying it couldn't happen , but that's not typically the mindset. But then to be mad at the younger brother, because he looks like the mom, but not only that, but because the mom wouldn't let the brother do beauty pageants, for one I didn't know that there were male beauty pageants. I mean, I'm sure there are, but not to the extent of there are female beauty pageants like you can be in every state and just about anywhere in the state and find a little girl. Beauty pageant to compete in not so much the same with boy beauty pageants.. I don't know this is exactly why I say. I think the narrators unreliable is just the way they tell their story where some of the missing holes are and then the excuses they come up with to cover those missing holes. Just don't seem to really lineup but it could also be they're just trying to keep their privacy I. Don't know, I just think it's a little bit of unreliability and we're missing a lot of info.

Think im gonna play devils advocate on the first story and gonna side with Amanda. Hear me out. A marriage is between man and woman. Noone should get in the way between that. He clearly wants to put his children first which is respectable but not relationship worthy. Amanda just wants them out of the house since they gonna be newlyweds. So all this hate, especially since her vulnerable nature and insecurities are known is pretty cold. She said some stupid stuff but the fact her fiance wrote her off quick meant he didn't love her enough. Also, Amanda shouldn't date widowers or divorcees. She needs a guy with no baggage due to her jealous nature.

Their is no such thing as an "Indian" accent and even saying that is very....I'll say...not good and very out of touch with reality and very much only going off tv perception. India is a large place....with thousands of languages. That specific one people use is equivalent to saying the N word to someone from Africa. It doesn't make sense but still hurts the same and is very very ignorant.

That's like saying there is no concept of sheep, they all have very individual looks and personalities. Yes, they do, but someone who isn't a Shepard won't be able to distinguish them properly. I can't distinguish between London accent and North Ireland accent either. And I'm sure a lot of British would be very offended by me not being able to tell them apart. To me there definitely is such a thing as an Indian accent and my English skills aren't good enough to tell apart the various accents there might actually be. If that's hurtful to you, that's really a you problem. Most people don't speak most languages, let alone them being able to appreciate all the accents there are. That's just a fact of life ...
