Oh thanks! Never went past the first episode as I heard the second was worse and I didn’t particularly enjoy the first one. P.S: You were only the second female youtube film commentator after Linsey Ellis that I found on youtube and it’s really great. Love your content!
Please, don't remind me of that abomination. The cliches were so cringey. And I get social media viral can really help a tv show. But tailoring the script in hoping to have that one dialogue that can be tweeted. It's so inorganic.
I never understood the appeal of being flashed even by an attractive person. There's a time and place for that shit. If I wanted to see that I'd just go on google images.
It's the allure of reality. There's a marked difference, especially among virgins or near virgins, between seeing images of tits and being within reaching distance of some real ones, regardless of attractiveness to a certain extent.
@@goosegirl941 just to be clear he had a wide range of films, from the ten commandments to look who's talking... and some episodes of Jerry Springer lol
Like the amount of softcore porn and pseudo incest in this pilot, you'd think they were aiming for HBO and not NBC. Cause NBC does not seem like they'd be the right fit for it.
Kathryn is more challenging , she is basically the villain so it's a way more interesting part for a actor in that regard. With Buffy , Joss Whedon drama kind of explains why she wouldn't do it
It starred the girl who says "Good for you" in the funeral scene, and Amy Adams played Kathryn. Imagine a world where that happened and Adams never became a movie star.
Cruel intentions is iconic and should have set a standard, but it was impossible to match. Spoilers for a movie from 1999 Peter Gallagher should want nothing to do with Catherine, did it not come out that she told Sean Patrick Thomas that Sebastian took advantage of Selma Blair? You’re telling me that nigga most likely went to jail and didn’t even tell anyone why he attacked Sebastian. Ronnie basically caused the death of the son of one of the richest, most powerful men in Manhattan. And Peter Gallagher never tried to find out why and didn’t fire his lawyer the moment he started dating Catherine.
"I just wanna see the big city, ma" The whole story could have been completely derailed at this point, he could have gone to Wichita instead. It's the biggest city in Kansas
@@danielwilliams7562 Yeah, there's two. I got a DVD box set years ago with Cruel Intentions I, II and III. Part of me is convinced the other two movies aren't real but unfortunately they are, lmao.
"What were we playin' in 1999?" Banjo-Kazooie, the original Super Smash Bros., Silent Hill, Pokemon Gold & Silver, maybe Sonic Adventure, that kinda shit. It wasn't until around the Bush/Chaney administration that online multiplayer started gaining momentum. Even then, most of us 90's gamers stuck with the classic genres.
23:55 The writers stole both of those "witty" comments. 1. 22:12 The "...special place in Hell for women who won't help other women..." line was lifted straight from Madeleine Albright's speech at Hilary Clinton's presidential rally. 2. 23:46 Joan Rivers made that "...silver spoon up the nose..." joke on Johnny Carson's show in the 1980s.
Cruel Intentions was the teenage remake of the amazing movie Dangerous Liaisons, starring John Malkovich, Glen Close and Michelle Pfeiffer. Just sayin’.
THANK U, was looking for this comment and wondering if anybody was going to acknowledge Dangerous Liaisons. I love that movie. SO MUCH better than Cruel Intentions imho, to me it isn't even close.
Lol, why did Sarah decide to do this? Shes a queen and this is below her, especially when apperently the main character doesn't get introduced til a funeral 2/3 scenes later.
@@rickrollrizal2364 after watching it it literally looks like Sarah never missed a step but I think if no one was returning but her, it wasn't worth it.
Idk if you mention it later in the video, but “Cruel Intentions” was based on the 18th century book “Les Liaisons Dangereuses” (or “Dangerous Liaisons” in English) by Pierre Choderlos De Laclos
Why is the sentence written backwards in Spanish? Idk wouldn’t the Sexuales come first like wouldn’t it translate to games sexual. Spanish is weird lol.
Cruel intentions was actually based on Le Liasons Dangereuses (Dangerous Liasons) one of Marie Antoinette's favourite books. It was adapted twice in the 80's as Dangerous Liasons with Glenn Close and John Malchovich and separately as Valmont (With Colin Firth) a movie that sucks so hilariously i can watch it but only drunk. Also it was adapted as a Korean Period film in 2004 set in the Joseon Period and in 2012 in China set in the 1930's.
I thought this was gonna be about "Manchester Prep", which was gonna be on Fox. They only made three episodes, it never aired, and then they spliced the episodes together and released it as a straight-to-video "Cruel Intentions 2".
The original is based on the novel les liaisons dangereuses, which is fantastic so thumbs up to the writers who adapted it so well! I don't want to watch it again because I'm a sad sucker for, even unrealistic, happy ends,i don't care make it happy haha
This was pure gold. Thank you for unearthing this treasure. 😂 (Also thank you to that one NBC exec who actually had two brain cells to rub together and pulled the plug on this abomination before it had a chance to mutate and destroy what was left of my teenage years.)
Both Ryan and Reese are pretty stable in their careers right now. Ryan's doing Big Sky, and Reese was doing Little Fires Everywhere. Not sure where that show stands now. I think they wouldn't be interested in going back to an old film turned tv show they did. Sarah Michelle hasn't been in much I can see why she returned. I can also see why this wasn't picked up.
Y'know, I remember when they brought back Dallas to television in 2012. Seeing geriatric back-stabbing between J.R., Bobby and the rest was pure fun. Then whenever the show switched over to the young'uns, my eyes would just glaze over. Until J.R. got shot again (I don't care what the writers said, it was clearly the Winter Soldier), I was actually digging it. Somehow watching rich old people manipulate each other over land and oil and such was actually enjoyable on some odd level. Sorry, that has nothing to do with this, but seeing a terrible show about horrible rich people un-entertainingly screw each and screw each other over made me think of something fun instead. Apologies for the diversion.
As a comic book fan, I'm always amazed at how the dialogue on network tv makes me long for the straight-up madness of the Silver Age. At a certain point, you almost get tired of saying "Who talks like that?" "Man, 24 was such a ridiculous, unrealistic show, right?" **thinks of the CW DC shows**
I love the OG movie. This show could’ve worked with a different more simple script. The concept of young boy goes to live with rich aunt who got his birth father killed us a good plot.
I still wish they'd made this, even if it were bad - it'd probably would've been fun to watch. Sarah M Gellar barely aged at all, or maybe it's the video quality.
I backed up the clip where dude gets hit by the train like 5 times. I didn't see any train tracks. They just slapped a CGI train onto a fucking service road and didn't think anyone would notice. I was raised by a producer, I always catch shit like this.
JLongbone this is the second attempt at a Cruel Intentions show. The first was a pilot that was rejected & reshaped into a feature length straight to video movie called Cruel Intentions 2. It had Amy Adams playing the Sarah Michelle Gellar role and was oddly a prequel with almost the same plot as the first film without the tragic ending. Instead everybody has sex with each other making the first film impossible and the prequel existing in an alternate universe. Cruel Intentions 3 is another straight to video movie only it’s in continuity with the first film happening years later and it says Gellar’s character ended up in an insane asylum.........yes I own all 3 films....and the soundtrack of the first.....what can say, I loved the first movie and when it comes to film franchises I’m a completest.
I remember hearing about this, and laughing it didn't air. Totally forgot about it until now. I'm gonna grab some popcorn and enjoy watching this video.
Bitter Sweet Symphony is what this show should have been called. Such a tragic follow up to a good movie. It's as bad as the Aquaman pilot on The CW staring Justin Hartley as Aquaman.
I just stumbled across this video. There should be no shame in your game whatsoever. I too still bump the C.I. soundtrack to this day! Every You, Every Me by Placebo as well as Addictive (which coincidentally reminds me of an ex) are pure fire! On a side note....did you do a vid for Falcon and Winter Soldier somewhere out there?
