From memory when they done the last upgrade of the Triton they extended the tub causing the overhang

If you're going to load up to near GVM then you need to pay careful attention to balancing the load. Not only have you got a fair load behind the rear axles but it favours one side. I understand that moving the fridge would be a pain in the arse but it would have been worthwhile for this trial. If you do it again put a board in the tub up against the window but not high enough to totally obscure your view and then you can stack more bricks forward of the axles without fear of then coming through the rear window. Me and a mate drove through south west WA in the early 80's in a HR Holden ute. We were buying old machinery batteries from farmers with the brilliant idea of selling them for a better price in Perth. The ute was sitting permanently on its rubber bump stops when we decided we had enough and headed for home. There was all sorts of groans and vibrations coming out of the old girl and she wandered all over the road. After we reorganised the load, she became a little more civilised. It might not seem like much, but a better weight distribution can work wonders. Great videos, by the way.

Hi mate, just been binging on your vids, I have a GLS purchased in March 21. So far have Force Pro Plus canopy, Kings Drawers, 120 ah battery box, 165 watt Solar mounted to the canopy and the usual cabin protections seat covers, 3d mats etc. Came upon your channel whilst researching Bull Bars. May not be connected but the later MR have a damper hanging of the diff that supposedly mutes vibration from the driveline. Keep up the good work.

I think the dampeners are only on the autos, not the manuals

Yeah. Understand also they went softer on MR suspension for comfort. The MQ and MN carried it way better.
@Ethel39

The vibration could be caused by a number of things. I would start with the tyres. Possibly a bulge when loaded. Uni joints could also be an issue. Is the vibration consistent or under acceleration? All things to start looking at.

whenever I’ve needed to transport a heavy load for building (often gravel) I usually put 1/3rd in the tray and 2/3rds in the box trailer. I got over the overhang issue to an extent by buying the club cab. My kids are all grown up so it’s not such an issue.
@jamesroussidis7216

I find if I distribute the gravel evenly it’s not the bad try putting some in the glove box and the large cup holders in the doors work well for that to 👍

I've done pavers, and a tonne of stock feed in my old workmate single cab and it felt pretty good. single cabs better for this kind of thing.
@86jesseb
@86jesseb 2 года назад
Have transported a similar load of pavers myself in my old MQ dual cab but I piled them as high as I could at the front of the tray. no point spreading them out as you're not going to be taking off fast. Not that it matters now but I wouldn't have any near the tailgate if there's room to stack em high at the front.
@mrtriton5405

True! Reason I spread the load is my rear window is exposed so if I was to brake hard they'd break my window

Suspension is a compromise they could fit heavier duty springs so it sits more even when at full load but then it would drive like shit when running empty !

All these pickups have overhangs period, isn't isolated to the Triton. Those heavy duty trucks notice their long wheel base and as a result most of the weight is spread between the front and rear axles. All these pickups nose rises up with as little as 500kg which really doesn't affect handling much but anything more is dangerous really. Look for example silverado, f150 although they have moderate payloads their wheelbase is much longer and allows the weight to be evenly spread between the axles. The manufactures of the small utes overdo it with these payloads capacity because they simply can't carry it effectively mainly because of their short wheel base. Last year I put about 650kgs in the tray and about 290 kgs of occupants in my stock 2007 Triton 2.5 and it was like an aeroplane, back down and front up. It had a shudder when taking off from stand still but that's about it. The payload was on a pallet as close to the axle as possible so it wasn't badly packed like yours was lol.
@MotoGuzziMoto
@MotoGuzziMoto 2 года назад
My VE commodore ute would probably have its front wheels off the ground with 8-900kgs spread out in the back. And I doubt any duel cab ute would handle that better with stock suspension.

I have a 2021 Triton and I would not put more than half of that weight in, like you said get a good trailer problem solved.

I think that shudder may be the drive shaft and/or unit joints binding up when the car is in a squat Do yourself a favour upgrade the real spring’s bro and give it a lift while you’re at it 👍
@AlsAllAussieAdventures

Loading any stock vehicle at max GVM is not going to drive well.. change out your stock suspension for an aftermarket set with uprated springs and it will drive WAY better.

I've got an MR triton and get a vibration when taking off from a standing start. It's a lot worse when loaded up and towing a camper trailer etc. Mitsubishi tell me it's normal but I'll be asking again at my next service

Does your one have the infamous mass damper on the rear diff like the MQ's had? Mine doesn't but that's supposed to reduce vibration and I noticed there are a couple of MR's that now have it👍

All the automatics have the damper of the diff, the manual don't. I've got a MR triton manual and getting vibration/ shudder taking off, more so when on a incline, and thats zero load. Though mine feels like clutch shudder going to the dealer for warranty check very shortly. I'm not going to accept "it's normal". Have you experienced this at all? Seems common from what I hear (Haven't had another manual to compare to)

I've got the same thing mate on my MR GLX+ 4wd auto. Exactly the same in that its worse when loaded. Had it from new and had the same response from Mitsubishi saying its normal - wasn't expecting anything from them anyway. I suspect its just the tail shaft vibration, so not overly worried but not ideal.

The vibration with a load on the back is due to the pinion angle changing, need some leaf wedges to help correct the angle. I'm pretty disappointed with my MR Triton tbh, the auto is super clunky, can't do beach work without the engine getting hot, towing is almost useless coming to a hill with only 2 ton on the back. Now mine has started stalling on cold start with the aircon on. So over it and every time mitsubishi wants to do relearns or software updates, has been back 4 times and apparently can't replicate the issue even though I've shown the service advisor how it happens. Should've bought an NP300 😬
@mrtriton5405
@mrtriton5405 2 года назад
Makes sense. Sounds like yours is a bit of a Lemon! Issue with the NP300s is that they sag heaps under load also

@@mrtriton5405 sorry watched again and still can't see where you talk about manufacturers axle load limits..the silverado 1500 has a smaller payload 712kg and the rear axle is rated around 100kg less then the triton..ram 1500 is even worse...any ute with close to its maximum payload on the rear axle is always going to bring the nose up..I get what your saying about overhanging and I agree but that's also why the put a max load rating on axles
