So what should I try next?! I hope you guys enjoyed this!! I really didn't think that going to bed at 8pm would be THIS successful but it was! Instagram: gracebooth97 Vlog channel: / @extragrackvlogs
Can we just talk about how my screen time has gone down 34% this week because I’ve been sleeping instead of on my phone!?!? ALSO, who is an OG and remembers when I used to do these illustrated intros for just about every video!
Interesting that she said that she's cried on sleepovers due to being up too late for her circadian rhythm. It shows how people with later rhythms can feel in the morning. And society tells us we are lazy but it's like a literally emotionally and physically distressing thing for us
So true. The world revolving around the 9-5 is so difficult for some people. Especially teenagers, it's been proven school would work better for them if it was 11-6 but that's never going to happen sadly.
@@mariona713 Exactly. You get children waking up at times 6am or earlier just to get to school in time for 9am. God am I glad we're doing online school so I can just wake up right before school starts. Ofc being stuck inside sucks and I wish I could go back to school but at least I'm not waking up at 6am
@@mariona713 in Germany, where I live, school starts between 7:30 and 8 am, so you have to leave your house at around 7 and wake up at around 6 or even sooner. University and work is even harder because many people don't live near and have to drive by car or train at least 30min to 1 hour. I'm a morning person, but in winter it's really hard for me to get up that early. I always wonder how horrible this feels like for night owls
I am a quarter Spanish but I live in UK and one time when I went to visit my Spanish cousins (I was 9 my cousin Bened was 8) and my mum was like what time does he go to bed and she was like on a school night I try to get him in bed by 11 I was like wuttttttt
I had a summer job that I had to get up at 5 o’clock for. After a few days I was in bed between 8 and 9 every day, and sometimes even before 8. The quality of sleep you get when you’re actually falling asleep as the sun goes down and waking up as the sun comes up is really something else. I would sleep so well that I would sometimes wake up on my own at half past 4 and be able to watch the sunrise until I had to get ready. Right now though, quarantine has fucked my sleep schedule so hard I go to sleep at about 4 ... I gotta fix that
i know exactly how u feel. for the last 6 years ive been going to sleep between 1 and 5 am, even when i had school i struggled to sleep because of my late schedule. however i got a job this january which i have to get up at 6 am before, and very recently (only in the last week) have i been able to start sleeping at around 10pm to 12 am and its really made a difference.
I don't have a 'go to sleep time'. I generally go to sleep about 36 hours after I wake up. I sleep for 14-16 hours at a time. Edit: missed out the three in 36. Didn't make sense.
@@rageagainstmyhairline5574 wow i wish i could go to sleep for that long.. my body won't let me sleep for more than 8 hours unless i go to sleep at like 2pm, then i sleep for 12 hours ish and wake up at 2 am.. i usually wake up at around 6am but quarantine has made my sleep schedule whack af 😂
I remember the last morning I woke up feeling really fresh and not tired. It was the last morning of a christmas holiday about ten years ago... Yh my sleepschedule has been terrible for a long time now..
MEL K MELO i go to bed at around 6/7am everyday and literally when i decide to go to bed and turn off the light and the sun isn’t up yep i’m glad because it’s hard to go to bed without complete darkness.
My mom would’ve loved her. In 3rd grade I could last up to 11pm. 5th grade up to 1 am. 8th grade up to 3 am. And let’s not even skip to now. I have done multiple all-nighters on school-days. Nowadays I have no limit especially when if I drink caffeine
it's not like that tho (i wake up at 4am everyday) so don't do it if you think it's gonna make your life better but rather with a purpose. (an important one, like getting up to study and get good grades so that you do good in life or etc) maybe u have no interest in doing it but whoever reads it, hope this helps. (also, there's this youtuber called Andrew Kirby, that basically gives me motivation for whatever and it's not fake motivation like telling yourself you're strong when you aren't, it's real facts, only thanks to him i'd say i'm a functional human being still life sucks but with his vision it doesn't suck that much so i'd recommend every person in this planet to give him a chance, and if you're gonna see his videos, see them all the way through, don't get distracted by comments or etc, focus 100% on what he's saying, that's it.)
11pm has been early for me since I was 15... actually an early night sleep for me now is around 3am 😭 😂 I am a night owl though - I have energy the entire night unless I am forced to get up before 7 or 8 haha
Another tip from my Mental Health advisor! If you can't sleep - perhaps get up and clean, or so something mindless. It gets you out of the stressful situation that is your bed/bedroom. Rolling around and getting frustrated will only make the goal of sleep harder to achieve!
I’ve heard quite the opposite ... that trying to stay relaxed and in bed often is more beneficial because even just resting with your eyes closed takes away tiredness and you‘re more likely to fall asleep after a while than if you got up and walked around/did other stuff with the lights on
3:43 People are nicest when they are fresh and before tons of people have had a chance to piss them off. Meeting people that are positive and vibrant personalities is also higher and an advantage of waking up early (needless to say due to going to sleep early).
i actually love that, i love waking up early in the winter and seeing the sky in its darkish blue, lazurite color. makes me so so happy. i miss winter:( but I don't miss the cold haha
Only 2 minutes in, and let me just say, i am thoroughly grateful for that animated intro edit situation. Brought me back to early grack days and i love it! Alriiiight let's get cracking with the video, then.
I'm neither a night owl nor a morning person. I don't feel productive in the morning, afternoon or evening. I want to sleep early but I'm often awake until 2 a.m. I wake up early wishing to go back to bed but my internal "school" clock won't allow me to? Idk why but I'm always tired WHY CAN'T I HAVE A NORMAL PERSONALITY AND BE EITHER A MORNING OR NIGHT PERSON I DON'T CARE JUST LET ME SLEEP-
Maybe you need some breaks in between your days if you're really busy.. or incorporate more physical exercise and eat more whole foods / veggies. Always get hydrated too!! ♥️
If you honestly want an answer and this is not just a statement in the air: check your adrenals, do the adrenal diet (google it). Incorporate good sleeping hygiene and habits, get some kind of workout during the day and don't eat heavy before going to sleep. I used to be a morning person, then forcefully shifted to being a night person due to circumstances (even though it was painful), and then ended up burnt out, exhausted, and no matter how much I slept I was never productive. You don't have to do all of this at once, take small steps, and sooner rather than later you will be better. Good luck! :)
Ooh girl, that's rough. Are you able to take naps at all? What with the lock down and all that going on right now? I second Varisa's suggestion. Make sure all your other health stuff is in check: getting enough water, enough vitamins, and maybe look into what your eating window is like, because diet affects hormones and thus your energy levels quite a bit. I have the same rhythm but for me that's my natural rhythm, but with naps (which is why I mention them). I can't imagine how tough it must be to be off rhythm and constantly tired =(
Minyo Wijaya thank you so much for your suggestion! I’ll try to keep that in mind :) hydration is also something I’ve been struggling with. Sometimes I go the whole day on just half a cup of water 😅😅 thank you!
Varisa thank you so so much for taking the time to comment. No, unfortunately I’m really struggling with my sleep 🥴 the adrenal diet sounds interesting. I’ll try to follow it! Tysm for the advice :) I never expected someone to actually care and help me 😅🥰 much appreciated!!
So i wanted to quickly share that the reason we sometimes still feel tired after a long sleep is because we’ve woken up in the middle of the REM cycle! REM cycles last 1.5 hours so recommended sleep time is usually 7.5 hours or 9 hours exactly because you’re waking up at the end of the cycle. Any longer than that and you’re body feels sluggish. I used to have a lot of struggle with this until I learned about it and applied it!
The (free) app sleepcycle work wonders for me. It basically hears (microphones) or feels (motion sensor) if your are in a deep or light sleep phase. You can set it to a certain time window (e.g. between 7 and 7:30) and it will wake you in this time window in your lightest sleep. It really helps to feel more awake and its quite interesting to see the information like what time you went to bed, how long it took to fall asleep, if you woke up during the night etc.
You're probably the healthiest looking person I've ever seen. Also it's incredible that you can fall asleep instantly. I usually lay in bed for at least an hour or two before I can fall asleep. I also agree with your friend. The bluish light from the phones makes me wake up more. When I have a candle lit in my room at night it makes me sleepier.
Never related more to this: "If you're a nighttime person you're gonna choose to work at night, but for a morning person, I can't ... I am not productive (...like any other time in the day...)"
Grackle yeah my boyfriend is Brit and it’s so weird when we stay over at each other’s houses ahahah because his family has lunch at 12 and dinner at 5 and mine has lunch at 2 and dinner never before 8:30 ahahah ( we do have snacks around 5pm though !)
I used to work in a hotel as a breakfast cook, and work would start at 5, so I would wake up at 10 to 4. That wasn't hard, but going to bed at 8 was a killer. The amount of times I went out partying and then slept for an hour and then went to work 😂. I remember when I went on a first date that was supposed to end at 10, and it streched on till 1 am...the same bus driver that took me home drove me to work a couple of hs later. So worth it, though. 2 years on and we are still together ❤️.
@@matthewtalbot-paine7977 I try. It doesn't fucking work. (For me) I have insomnia and it seems like nothing helps. Medication just barely works. My thoughts just won't leave me alone.
Steps to falling asleep: 1. Don't eat past 7pm 2. Limit blue light exposure after the sun goes down and NO screen exposure 2 hours before you want to go to sleep 3. Perform some form of exercise that day 4. Try reading a book for an hour 5. Stop identifying with your insomnia, you focusing on that is only keeping you up by your own desire to assert what you believe to be true 6. If you feel your thoughts are keeping you up either meditate on them or write them down and get them out of your head 7. Listen to relaxing music 8. Practice meditation to relax your body and calm your mind Best of luck to you all and may you sleep well
I still do that hour counting thing, as someone who can never get to sleep easily, wakes up multiple times and is fatigued all the time, I always try to get “enough” sleep for the fear of being so tired during the day that I can’t function. So I try to get around 8 hours but sometimes it doesn’t work and I also over sleep a lot, and I hate waking up cuz I feel horrible every morning 😔 Also currently watching this at 1am😩 and not even that tired so it’s gonna take me forever to get to sleep
There's been a study that showed that just lying in bed pretending to be asleep helps with cognitive and brain functioning the next day even if you don't actually sleep very much. A lot of people find worrying about not sleeping can stop them from falling asleep so knowing this can really help :)
I s a b e l l a I have a 20 minute time limit for me to get to sleep( it takes me forever to finally get to sleep) and if it passes that time and I still can’t get to sleep, I then stay awake till I actually feel tired. Also it is currently 4:10am and sleep isn’t really calling me lol
Elle's Inspirations Lol that last part has me laughing so hard 🤣 and yeah it takes me awhile to get to sleep, like an hour once I actually close my eyes, I just toss and turn for another hour or two before I get to sleep, I don’t know why, cuz other people I know can get to sleep pretty quickly 😓
I must admit that at 8pm the thought of sleep is not even in my mind, I am definitely a night owl 🦉 But I do think waking up early feels more productive - I probably should do it more often!
the thought of sleep isn't in my mind until like 11pm when i tell my mum around when i plan on going to bed (normally around midnight to half 2 am if i give her an actual time but sometimes i just say "i'll go to bed for a decent time to wake up at *hour*). but i am CERTAINLY a night owl because i am an avid animal crossing player and i play animal crossing for like 1-2.5 hours every night before going to sleep so if i get into bed at like 3am i normally only get to bed round half 4am :/
I think in Tesco the arrows are only there to direct people out of the store as you now have to go in one door and out a different, following the arrows to the '"out door' (I think) ❤️
Harmonyhope yes but the next time I went in people were walking whatever way they want so no idea!! but yeah each shop has different rules so it’s hard to remember
This is so pure! And you totally helped me understand my boyfriend’s sleep patterns more because he’s 24 and goes to bed at 9pm usually. 11pm is considered super late for him, and I go to bed TWO HOURS BEFORE he gets up for work in the morning! I never understood until now- thank you!
The editing, the complimentary colors used, the simple but entertaining animation, the adorable accent, the interesting content, the open and positive attitude....you've earned yourself a subscriber :D
I absolutely love the vibe of this video. The music, the early morning shots with the sun coming in and little Banksy with the sun on her fur. Idk if it’s weird to say but I think this video highlights how beautiful Grace is too. So peaceful and nice. 😌♥️
New video idea: eating only Eastern European foods for a day or two... Such as snacks (from Eastern European shops) and recipes!! Still love your videos regardless, sending a big lockdown hug 😊
My old flatmate was from Moldova and introduced me to this amazing Russian honey cake called Medovik that he said is very popular all over eastern Europe and it's hands down the best cake I've ever had, I now go to eastern European shops to go and buy it. Anything else you recommend?
Hazeydaze22 Medovik and it’s so incredible!! As a hungarian (lived in the UK virtually my whole life though), I recommend some of these: (I apologise this became far longer than we all probably anticipated 😂) Meals: - Pierogi (or the russian word is Pel’meni) which is dumplings which can either have meat, or vegetarian alternatives being cabbage, cottage cheese, sauerkraut (kapuszta in polish) - Goulash (hungarian goulash creams can be found in tubes similar to tomato purée to have that authentic flavour) - Stroganoff usually involves sour cream, but I’m sure there’s a dairy free alternative which can be used as a creaming agent... perhaps coconut milk or something? - There are tonnes of recipes on making Eastern European style lentil stews - There’s a hungarian deep fried garlic bread (I guess you’d call it that) called Lángos, usually served with sour cream, garlic and cheese but sour cream can easily be omitted. I don’t have this a lot though because it can become unhealthy if you eat too many - Chicken Kiev’s with garlic and herbs inside served with boiled potato and sauerkraut is very common also I will stop here, but there are many recipes online. A good channel, although it is an unserious one, is “Life of Boris”, and he has many videos on russian cooking and baking. Deserts: - I’ve never noticed these in the UK, but pancakes with cinnamon and brown sugar are very common in Hungary - Poppy seeds are more seen as a sweet ingredient in Eastern Europe, so the hungarian word for a poppy seed roll is “Mákos Bejgli”, but I’m sure there are Romanian, Polish, Czech, and russian versions too! - Krumplis Nudli is a hungarian potato dumpling, served with peach jam and powdered sugar. It is much sweeter than you’d expect! - Nuts are generally a desert thing too, so nut filling filled deserts are all really good, especially if you want a savoury option - I’m sure Grack has made these before, but cheese prezels, or alternatively chocolate pretzels Drinks: Kubus (the carrot apple banana is the classic, it sounds grim but it’s so lovely!) Tymbark Cactus juice (which is a mix of apple and aloe vera) There’s a hungarian brand called Sió, and they do EVERY kind of juice you’d imagine... grapes, lemon&lime, peach, orange, apple, cherry... omg my mouth is watering! Fusion teas like apple and mint or lavender and camomile. Polish shops do a lot of these types of teas.
Mátyás Hale I was in Hungary and Romania last Summer and my body couldn’t deal with the food. Even my sweat started to smell different. I don’t have that much against the food but my body didn’t like it.
Someone suggested this a while ago but I thought it was such a good idea, could you bake things using the recipes that were used in maths questions at school and in gcse exams?
This really gives me motivation to try to go to bed at 9 every night! My work schedule during the summer typically switches to a 7:30 start time and I usually end up going to bed at about 9 during those months and going to bed as the sun sets and waking up as it rises feels so right. I was really looking forward to my schedule switching again, but because of lockdown they are keeping me on a later schedule. This makes me realize I can still do it, even if it isn't forced by my work schedule
this is giving me motivation to fix my sleep schedule!!! watching this video, I'm just imagining how quiet and peaceful it would be to wake early. like honestly it just sounds like the right move as a self-identifying introvert. plus waking and sleeping late just makes me feel like i have no time to do anything the next day. the fact that my sleep schedule has recently been spiraling and getting worse has been giving me a lot of stress : / welp hopefully tomorrow marks the end of that!
this was honestly so fascinating to watch!! i love when you do these kind of videos they're always my fave. part of me definitely wishes i was the type of person to wake up at 6am but i've never actually found the motivation to do it but this vid really inspired me and during this whole isolation i might give it a try
I am so gkad you posted this! I go to bed at 8. Asleep by 9. Up at 5:30 or 6 am. It works for me. I look forward to going to bed early, wuth a book and my journal, and usually a cat. I'm a morning person all the way. The world seems quieter and more peaceful in the morning. I enjoyed your video. Thank You!
I’m a person who has to go to bed around the same every night, because I “suffer” from migraines and headaches, if I don’t get enough sleep, I can for sure prepare myself to a migraine attack with throwing up and all that “good stuff”. Usually I go to bed around 10-11:30, and wakes up around 7:30-8:30. I love how you just don’t let anyone get in your way if you have set your mind on something 🌞
Morning person here! The best was getting up at 7 am at Uni on Saturday morning, doing assignments until 11.30, then going to get the Saturday paper and snacks/lunch from the Spar shop!
Oh my gosh finally, another early bird!! I've never met someone who likes going to sleep early and waking up early, I relate to this so much! (even the crying at sleepovers, unfortunately lol) I almost always go to bed at 9pm(fall asleep more at like, 10pm because RU-vid) and get up at 7am. I would get up earlier but I can't really get ready without accidentally waking my family up. You're so right though, early mornings are the best! You've inspired me to try and go on more walks, I've been so lazy recently...
There’s a setting on your phone that eradicates the blue light anyway. You can set it to happen at sunset, or at any time. So you could set it to happen at 7pm if you wanted.
Discombobulated I don’t know if you have an iPhone or Android but in your display settings there should be something about it. On an iPhone it’s night shift. I don’t know what it is in android but google will ☺️
This is my sleep schedule. Going on nearly a year now, and I love it. I work on an alpaca ranch and am doing hard labor for 10hrs a day. So getting to go home, shower, eat dinner and go to bed is something I look forward to every day. My friends also think I’m weird to love it, but 🤷🏻♀️.
so the thing with blue lights before bed is that it still impacts your sleep quality. you may be able to fall asleep, but it makes your brain think it's still morning/during the day, so the sleep isnt as restful. what i've learned from my doctors is that if you struggle to wake up in the mornings (like i do) it is essential that you get in the sun right after waking up and go to bed before midnight/1am. this helps set your circadian rhythm to what is actually best for you. i use a sunlight therapy lamp to replicate the sun because i have a really hard time getting out of the house. still struggle with my sleep, but i also dont have like any time commitments rn so it's harder to keep a schedule as is. also, part of the reason why it's best for you to sleep before midnight roughly is because after that point more cortisol (one of the stress hormones) gets pumped out if youre still awake then. as someone with a chronic pain disorder, this is a huge deal because more stress on my body = more pain, worse sleep, worse recovery. wishing you all luck
Wow this is such perfect timing for this video because I’m about to start a new job that starts early in the morning. Even though I am a morning person I’ve been going to bed so late andI need to get back on track
u r my soul mate ! i used to sleep by 10, and wouldn't "allow" any thing to stop me from doing that... but then life happens... it is true that if i could go back to that i would in a heart beat !
I'm sooo jealous of morning people. I think people don't realise how hard it can be when you're a night owl. The whole world is set up for morning people. Sure, some people can work night shifts, but most night owls can't because there aren't as many jobs and it would mean sacrificing what you really want to do/what you're good at. And school is all early in the day. No matter how hard me and my boyfriend try we just cannot switch to being morning people. We have been 'trying to fix our sleep schedules' for over two years now and it just never works. Stick to being a morning person if it works for you!!
Hmm this is really interesting! I’ve always thought it seems a lot more natural to sleep when the sun sets and wake when the sun rises. Unfortunately though, school, homework, work and outside activities mean that this isn’t possible for me! 😂 but I would love to try this some day!
I needed this a week ago. I start back to work tomorrow and will be working 8am-8pm. 12 hour days instead of my normal 8 hours. Quarantine has got me going to sleep around 3am and waking up around 11:30am 😅😅 Tomorrow should be fun...
I like your enthusiasm :) The problem is that when you are NOT a morning person you will try all your life to match this kind of a routine and be tired all day or you decide to be active in the time you're productive plus still having to be active in a day (school/job) and you get little to no sleep at all. This world is not made for night owls. Honestly the only time I felt like you after the 1st night was after sleeping 4 hours, except that feeling awake part disappeared in a few hours.
Surprisingly, that never happened to me and I'm a night owl. I just go to sleep when I get bored, but I did once go to bed at like 9am and woke up at 10:30am after staying awake for an entire night because of insomnia.
I'm definitely a night person, I worked a job for a summer once where I had to wake up at 5:00am every morning and even then, after a full 8 hour day of a fairly physically strenuous job, I would be physically tired after work but not sleep-ready tired(?) until at least 10pm. That's so normal to me that its like genuinely fascinating to see this little slice of life through the eyes of a morning person!
Maybe it's because you go to bed early in the morning like I do. I have insomnia and I have a love-hate relationship with nights, but mornings can go screw it's self
I've started going to be earlier and earlier since I've gotten into the habit of turning my phone off about an hour before I want to be asleep and I honestly love it. I love falling asleep early and I love waking up early and getting my day started.
