Mother's narrative on relatives of husband side is because she is the one who has to tolerate and live with them and she is affected by their behavior. Father rarely lives with his in-laws and even with his own relatives he is not able to sense the politics played by his own relatives. The wife has to vent out her feelings and also feels the need for a sympathetic listening. Hence she pours her views on relatives to her children as the husband doesn't pay any attention to her complaints. I don't say that mother side relatives are all good. But as she is mostly affected by in-laws side relatives due to the societal set up of girl living with her in-laws, this type of narrative against relatives tends to get generated. It seems either you have had the privilege to live your life on your terms if you are a female or else you are a typical man with a patriarchal mindset. My kids are wise enough to observe and form their own opinion and judgement without any prejudice. I too feel pity for your kids' spouses and wish you too get cured.
@@svidhyag I have two children and still I am staying with my in laws and I am happy for that. I don't need to tolerate anyone. But your view is as such every daughter in laws are perfect and everyone on the other side are the worst human beings and only humiliates n exploit daughter in laws. My kids are also growing up happily with grandparents.
Manipulation, emotional blackmail, narcissism are all unfortunately related words to indian parenting. A person who is born in india but without typical indian mindset, it becomes difficult for him or her to live with society where even families are full of politics. So any guidance for such ppl, how to stay unaffected while living in society which is completely different from his or her thought process? Bit weired question, but would glad if you guide on this subject.
@@jyotivyas9286 it's not about lndian or western societal fabric. It's about good, logical, and proper parenting which will make a child onto responsible and law abiding citizen. Parents have to understand this irrespective of country.

Whereas westerners they look scattered but made such strong society that their children (above age of 18) can work, wander, explore diffnt ways of life, follow their hobbies and interests so easily..without any family or society pressure and narratives.
Every word that you have said is 100% true. The elder generation of today has literally destroyed the young generation of today with the baggage of their expectations and hopes. Relations between the ward and their parents/guardians have been dented beyond repair in many cases including myself. 😵

My brother and I are very fortunate. My mother inspite of her issues with her in laws and other family members she never tried to influence us. Infact all cousins are having strong bonds.

It's true that mothers usually set the narrative in a household....my mother had started hating my father and set both of us children against him...but his house sheltered her till her 80's and the finest academic education he gave us and his legal legacy stands by us till this day

Thank you sirji. This is a very very relevant topic. I have seen this being played out in my life, my aunts have influenced their kids (my cousins) so much that i don't have a good relationship with them. It's a loss for both sides I feel.
I lived in hostel in school and college and a solitary life after joining service. I lived without any any influence of narratives on me. It has made me solitary, detached and analytical person.

Hum log pura control kiye gae.... Aur hamare bacche aab hamari bilkul bhi nai sunne wale. You were right about this. Isliye 1970-1980 Walon ki awakening ho rahi hai. Unke saath kya kiya gaya hai.... Well said sir.. Even in my family after my tauji's death the relations among our cousins have become hostile due to some misunderstandings between my taiji, mom & dadi. As taiji feels that we ( my parents &dadi) did'nt supported her during tauji's cancer phase which is completely wrong.
