Is Zach Snyder's Justice League Actually Good? 

As a person who loves the Snyder Cut but is willing to point out the flaws, you sir have earned a new sub.

Even if it may be good or bad I think we all need a round of applause to Zack Snyder for completing his film, one that was at the center of I’m sure a tough time in his life

I’m actually glad it was Darkseid in that flashback. That way it establishes that HE is the big bad of this whole thing. He started all this. And, I think the Flash stopping and rewinding time was a very powerful and emotional moment for Barry.

To be fair in that dark side scene he's technically not the dark side yet cuz I'm pretty sure Zack Snyder said that he does not have the Omega Force in him yet

My fan brain heard that Darkseid couldn't find Earth/the anti-life equation and it assumed it must of been hidden by the new gods.. Then i saw what Snyder had to say about it and it hurt my soul lol

Zack Snyder didn’t take away anything, joss did and ruined his vision of the film, Snyder’s was existent and yes people can have their own opinions, but in the comics the flash’s lighting is orange and blue is stronger which leads us to believe that the flash is experienced in the Snyder cut

Having Barry turn back time in his first ever appearance is equivalent to Captain America picking up Mjollnir in the first Avengers film. He meets Thor, they talk about the heft and honor of Mjollnir and Rogers almost immediately picks it up. Establishing the power and significance of Mjollnir over several films made the moment when it flies into Cap's hands all the more special and memorable. What I noticed you forgot to mention was that Justice League was designed to be told in two parts. I have no idea how you'd split this movie into two parts that would be as satisfying as Infinity War and Endgame but it's possible we would've gotten two completely different movies if Snyder's 2-part vision was given the green light. However, even if it was made into two movies it would still be insanely rushed when compared to Marvel's 10 years and 22 movie epilogue that spanned time and space. If you ever decide to visit this movie again I'd love to see you breakdown one of the dumbest scenes in the movie, which is the scene with Barry saving Iris. Based on your breakdowns of the ridiculousness of the Flash TV show I'd be curious to get your take on how abhorrently stupid and void of logic that scene is. I mean, seriously! I professional commercial truck driver drops his burger in the middle of a major metro area and doesn't bother slowing down? And Iris is so smitten with some random dude that she speeds through an intersection and goes so fast her car flips over? And what's up with her face? Shouldn't she have a look of complete and utter terror? Sorry, I couldn't help myself.

The Flash was insanely overpowered in the comics too like I'm not even kidding!😳

I mean, its uxas. For those Who dont know, uxas is darkseid, before turning into an actual New God. Its a nerfed version of darkseid.

Flash just reverses time a couple seconds in this film and the first time it seemed like he did it by accident. One of the main story lines for him is going back decades in time to save his mom which causes issues.

For ME it was the best comic book movie of all time. For what I personally want from comic book movies. Note I said for ME not in general so don’t rip my face off, kids.

For the Barry and Batman moment, in case you missed it, Snyder version of Flash is ALOT more experienced than Original. We know this because Barry knows what happens when he runs at extreme speeds i.e. it messes with time. It's also a speculation that this version of Barry has experienced time travel. So no, it wasn't wrong to remove it.

I thought the Snyder cut was a bad movie but it was better than the theatrical release. I would have liked to see what the theatrical release would have done with four hours as I think a longer run time would solve a lot of its problems.

Wonder woman should have been capable of singlehandedly defeating Steppenwolf with no problems. Not only did she defeat Ares (the man who took down Darkseid with a single blow), she also showed that she was faster than machine gun bullets in the beginning. Steppenwolf was slower than a horse (as was shown when he fought the Amazons). And he didn't have the level of reaction speed that Diana had. And he's far weaker than Darkseid (whom Diana should be capable of beating since she defeated Ares). Diana should have easily beaten Steppenwolf with no help at all. Or they could just give flash her sword and let flash stab or behead him at super speed. There were multiple ways to actually kill him since if you think about it, he posed no threat

The reason why they didn't show any consequences to Barry's reverse time ability is because obviously it was saved for later movies(either The Flash or future Justice League films). The movie had a lot going on already so I think him saving the day and leaving the consequences for later was perfectly justifyable. The "Consequences" for his time travel was like teasing Thanos in the very end of The Avengers. We already see in the Snyder's Cut epilogue that they are in a dark, dystopian future. Don't you think if Barry could just go back in time and fix that future he would have done that? Obviously something prevented him from doing it, and I'm sure Snyder was going to explain it in detail in later movies, or again - The Flash movie was supposed to do it.

I can see your reasoning for this and agree with pretty much most of it but I still love the vision and the take on characters about it. I got annoyed when you brought up the flash scenes but when you went into depth about your thought I definitely agree with you! But great video

As of the flash use of his op powers i saw it fine because the final tome he uses the time travel is to actually save the earth. If he didn’t had done anything he would have died, so in that case doesn’t matter the consequences of reverse time if the other option is literally disappear of existence. Is different in cw flash tv show tho the situation

hey bro. love the video.... although i do have some things to say 1. the flash being inexperienced, doesnt make sense, since in the movie, he has knowledge of him being able to rewind time if he goes too fast, and in the suicide squad we see him apreending one of the members...... so it makes sense making him a little bit more serious 2. if you look at the people fighting Darkseid, it makes sense that he got hurt..... in the DC universe, Zeus is a god... one of the most powerful characters in that universe, you have and a few others, very powerful as well....... the steppenwolf scene, is doenst make sense that he looks way more over powered, than darkseid underpowwered. 3. the flash rewinding time is not changing time at all.... changing time is actually going back in a fixed time in the past like trying to survive his mom.... or preventing murder.... that happened years or days ago.

Remember, the Snyder cut was him being forced to condense a multiple film story into a 4hr special.

You you know a solid plot line that they could have used for why the motherboxes didn’t call out yet could’ve been that the earth was still well guarded. The gods haven’t died yet(as they were confirmed dead around the first WW which brings up the timeline), the world of humans was still United, Atlantis wasn’t undergoing a power struggle, and if he wanted to tease the GL he could’ve added that there was still a GL guarding this sector. And that brings the time for the MB to call out from thousands of years down to recent decades in which that could’ve been explained easier by superman appearing and Atlantis being together until Arthur was born and a war for succession occurred in Atlantis. That way it gives gravity to each of their individual movies and characters as to why earth is now open season. And gives them more responsibility to step up and take their predecessors place. Also, I think naturally raises the stakes and gives a reason for the need of the justice league

I thought cyborg's vision of the future was showing the consequence of the flash's time reversal? It's been a while but doesn't it happen as soon as be begins to rewind time? I know that it's obviously showing what would/could happen if Superman is brought back but perhaps it was because of Barry that the future has been shifted. I hope I make sense.

If Studio Squad is really your guilty pleasure, then you'd know Flash already has at least one nemesis. Darkseid back then was too young and he was even called Uxas or something. You can't give critics to the nightmare future after seeing glipses of it. I don't think the consequences of arguably the most iconic scene in the DCEU in the next 3 minutes of the movie and arguably the Snyderverse. And Zack didn't have full liberty or the golden chance other creators dream of, he just had the chance to publish the movie he filmed half a decade ago with one added scene he shot at home with the actors seperate and was forced to change the Green Lantern introduction scene that would've been perfect with Martian Manhunter because WB couldn't let this one project slip unfucked and Zack put all the scenes without cutting anything because why letting footage hang there anyway

The problems that is not mention when it comes to batman being part of this is the missing or lack of robin his other half of the dynamic duo. Why is robin not included when he was part of his story since 1943.

I don’t think darkseid is actually weak: it was a younger,less experienced and way weaker version of him So I think if they did a sequel to this; they would’ve made him a lot more powerful

I enjoy the Snyder take thoroughly, there is flaws. However I do believe there is consequences to flashes actions, well action. Bringing superman back, if flash proceeded with it, the future was shown. Which we know he did, I hope we get them movies, but I won’t hold my breath

My problem is how easily Darkseid got bodied Then the fanboys rallied and called him Uxas and claimed that wasn't the true Darkseid even though in the movie he only ever refered to as such and that he was the most dangerous being ever If you need to third party explain things that weren't stated as such in the movie or show itself , then that's just bad writing An example is ATLA I don't care how popular or strong Ozai was in Avatar They still had to state outside of the show that he was the strongest firebender because other than him being the Firelord , the show hardly ever indicated why he was final boss material

I think gets too much crap for "Justice League"; yes the original release sucked, but lets be realistic: he was called in at "the last minute", was told to adjust the movie (so he couldn't just start from scratch and his style is greatly different from Snyder's, so that's a clash that was evident) which made a lot of problems that the script had (which are also visible in the "Snyder Cut") still there and when all is said and done the "Snyder cut" does dwell into the characters and story more BUT it is roughly TWICE as long and STILL has like 30-40 minutes of film that could've been cut out and the movie itself would lose literally NOTHING in terms of its own plot and characters. And I actually agree with Gio: "Snyder cut" is the better version, but it's still far from perfect and quite lower in quality than it's Avengers equivalents; it may top "Age of Ultron" (haven't seen that film in a while, but I remember it was underwhelming), but doesn't really compare to the original Avengers or either of the two-part Infinity saga closure.

I can't possibly agree that this is a bad movie. The imdb rating(which is usually very strict) speaks for itself. Infinity War is like a Swiss cheese of plot holes and story contrivances(Bruce remembering that Thanos is coming despite it being established that he never remembers what happens to him in the Hulk form; The Guardians finding Thor by pure luck, Thor knows exactly where to go on Earth during the Wakanda battle , Strange almost never using portals, even before he finds out about 1 in 14 million possiblities and so on and so forth) and it's generally considered a great movie. Here, you find one plot hole(Darksied not remembering about Earth) and it's suddenly a bad movie. It's so well done on so many levels, it doesn't deserve to be called bad for a few plot contrivances almost all movies have.

Well... on the topic of the Motherboxes not calling out. It was said that Cyborgs father ACTIVATED a Motherbox before then. So it could be argued that there was only one that was 'awake' so to speak, that the other two were being stopped from calling out due to the containment methods used on them. Regardless, I haven't watched the Theatrical Cut so I can't compare the Snyder Cut to it, however given how much I hated BvS, I wasn't expecting to enjoy it at all. However, I certainly believe the Snyder Cut could do with another cut because honestly, when I watched it, there was so much that could have been cut without losing anything (and the with Martian Manhunter ending to the Martha and Louis talk, actually improve the movie).

The guy in the past war isn't darseid. It's Uxas as explained by Zack. It's Darkseid before he became the king of apokolyps and got the Omega powers. That's why HIS FUCKING EYES DON'T GLOW. Plus, if you had ANY knowledge of the actual comics, you would have known that the "Gods" are FAR FAR FAR MORE POWERFUL THAN STEPPENWOLF. EACH GOD IS EQUIVALENT TO ALMOST THAT AS A FULL POWERED DARKSEID. So it makes sense that he lost to MULTIPLE GODS.

The flash time traveling and not talking about it is bad but it would detract from the pacing of the movie and I know you would’ve pointed that out if they went that way

Sorry but this film is still a sequal to previous films where Superman and Batman killed people. And of course, the film is still devoid of bright colours. Also, Darkseid is a god. And I god should not be forced back and made to look weak. The only person who should give Darkseid a physical challenge is Superman, not some random dude with an axe. I fucking axe made Darkseid drop to his knees. Seriously? The film really made Darkseid look bad. As a comic book fan, I was very annoyed. And I am tired of the evil Superman troupe. Stop deconstructing the Man of Steel Warner Brothers! And Stephen wolf looks even more generic. I know his comic book look may not translate too well but they have least given him a slightly more creative and less boring design. The fact that a GL scene was cut is very irritating. Warner just will not get over the failure of the First GL film (which was their own fucking fault by the way). While the cut version is slightly better, it is still a flawed and poor representation of the DC universe. Still, I am glad that Zack Synder fans got the film they want. It is just not the film I wanted.

It makes my brain hurt that so many people don't understand so many things in this movie that needs only common sense to understand. For starters, 1. Ares was at 5% of his peak powers in Wonder Woman 1 movie. Wonder Woman defeated a nerfed Ares who was fucked by Zeus earlier, a weak Ares. The flashback Ares from ZSJL was a much stronger Ares. 2. Darkseid did not forget the location of Earth. For example, I go to an island (a planet) in the Pacific (Universe) now, and get fatal injuries. Then I try to find the same planet after 50 years, (50000 years in Darkseid's case) without a map or a GPS (Motherboxes), I won't be able to find it. 3. About Martian Manhunter not interfering, he is literally the last Martian, he definitely doesn't want his race to end yet. Plus he doesn't think that he owes anything to this planet. He revealed himself at the end because people accepted the superheroes, and the other heroes accepted themselves. That's why he didn't come out for so long. Yeah it's a bit dumb, but Martian Manhunter gives zero fuck. 4. "Hopeful Superman" ever heard of character journey? People fear him, he doesn't know if what he is doing is even right. He has been broken and lost for so fucking long. He finally found some comfort in the name of Lois Lane, he is depressed can't you fucking see it? He is misunderstood. Of course he is not hopeful. And Superman won't turn evil by his will, Darkseid is going to control him with the Anti Life. And after JL 3, the next Superman movies were supposed to be about a hopeful Superman who finally found his place in the world. And I don't understand how Superman being not hopeful is a inconsistency. 5. I agree with the Batman vs Steppenwolf thing, it would have been much more interesting than Superman vs Steppenwolf. But Batman trying to protect Flash isn't irrelevant just because he still got shot. It fucking shows that even Batman can't do everything on his own. 6. Flash's time travel was supposed to have consequences in the future Flash movie. Let's see what WB is going to do in the new Flash movie. 7. Motherboxes woke up not because Superman died. It was Superman's death scream that woke up the motherboxes. You can literally see in the opening scene lmfao. They did not wake up hundred's of years ago because there was nothing strong enough as a Kryptonian's death scream to actually being able to wake them up. And one box sent the message to the other box. Can't you see the closest box woke up not the others? 8. Fate of the universe is more important or your secret identity? I wanna know dear GI Gio. And the officers not being able to figure out Clark's identity later is a plot hole. 9. Even if I am able to help people and do good with my powers, looking like a Robot is still a curse. So yeah Cyborg was happy in the previous scene, but he still was a Robot. Why wouldn't he think of his powers as a curse just because he can help people? I agree with a total of 5% of this video, there are some things that shouldn't have been in the movie. For starters, there was no need to reveal Martian Manhunter's identity in that scene, they should have kept it as a Lois-Martha scene. Movie could have been shorter. Some things can be cut from the movie. Wonder Woman having no arc in the movie, I mean, I don't mind considering the fact that she was supposed to get her own movie just a month earlier than ZSJL's official release. Flash didn't really have a character arc either because he was literally going to have his own movie in 2018 and Aquaman got his own movie in 2018. I don't think Gi Gio is going to read this comment simply because a lot of RU-vidrs ignore comments that contradict what they said. If you read this, GI gio, I love your Flash videos, and I wanna say that you did not understand ZSJL or Superman's character in Snyderverse at all. Don't worry, I didn't unsub.

They came up with an explanation for why darkseid forgot and never returned It was revealed that when darkseid returned to his world, he had to take part in a civil war on his world that lasted very long and the people who were with him during the invasion all died in the war and the ships were destroyed. Yeah it still doesn't explain it but l'll accept it

I feel like your vote was harsh 3 or 6 I know a guy that was harsher and even then he sed 7.5 dont give me wrong it has floss but to say it's not good at all just because of a few mistakes tho they kinda were big so what endgame had huge mistakes it's still a good movie that even if you havent watched the original joosticleage if you have the time watch it

Even though the Snyder Cut was good in my opinion. But it still doesn’t fix DC’s problem. I didn’t like that Darkseid lost to Ares, maybe instead the scene could’ve been a good opportunity to show Steppenwolf’s betrayal and he tried to take the Anti-Life equation for himself, but then that split the armies of apocalypse to turn on each other and the heroes of Earth took that as an opportunity to turn the tide in their favor. It was too soon to do the Batman vs Superman story arc and the Death of Superman arc.

I think the consequences will be showed in the flash movie is about i think. Cause the director is ignoring joss whedons version of the justice league

I liked it quite a bit and the theatrical cut bored me, but in terms of the plot it made as many new holes as it filled. Having Darkseid defeated in the intro was the stupidest change imo, though the final Injustice scene with the Joker didn't win me over. They should have left Steppenwolf invading earth while Darkseid was busy fighting the New Gods/Lantern Corps or managing multiple invasion campaigns. Then it would make sense why it took so long for Earth to get his attention and not make him look weak because he was fighting beings as strong as Superman.

It's actually 3 plot points..1) The Antilife being on earth. 2) The motherboxes being on earth 3) The earth that whooped his ass ( which should have been a pride issue..as he got as whooped and set up a fire to take earth out..) so yea..kinda screws stuff up a little.

I'm a big flash fan, I really have issues with the flash in this movie, his age and abilities don't match the comics,animated movies or the TV show, it's like young inexperienced Barry who doesn't understand his powers suddenly goes max power messing with time.

Flash reversing time does have consequences though... First time he did it, it caused him to touch the box before it touched the water, when cyborg told him to do it as it touches the water. Then that caused superman to come back all confused. The last scene where he saves the world didnt have consequences in THIS movie. We don't know yet, its most likely gonna be a problem for flash in his movie. Also you said why didn't men write anything about the big fight down, when they have a whole amazonian temple about writings of the war. Its weird because you said it could be like the gods, they see it as mythology, when its exactly that😂there were some other things you got wrong/didn't understand but I forgot and don't wanna watch a 28min video all over again. There is a devrence between time rewinding and time travelling

Just because going back in time is a big no-no in the tv show doesn't mean it has to be for the movie. This Barry is just starting out and doesn't have any rules. He doesn't have a clue going back in time is possible for him until the Superman resurrection scene. And no time-travel or messing with time is not something intrinsic to his character in the comics like the no-killing rule is for Batman. For the last 10 years DC's stories have been affected by a story in which a very experienced Barry Allen went back in time and changed something in the past. The most recent animated Justice League movie ended with Barry going back in time to restart the DC universe. Maybe there should be consequences for what he does in the movie. And maybe the Flash stories have changed in recent years so that he has a new rule about time travel in the comics that he didn't have before. But it's not something longtime fans of the character are upset about, which would be a red flag like Batman killing or Superman having no concern for collateral damage. And it's not a rule it would make sense for Barry to have in the context of the movie. He doesn't have the knowledge or experience to consider such a thing and no allies to tell him it's a bad idea. It is the best Snyder DCEU movie and much better than the theatrical cut, but it's still not as good as a movie called Justice League should be,

One thing about your comment about no consequences for Barry going back in time: it's implied that him doing so and bringing about Steppen Wolf's defeat is what brings Darkseid to Earth and leads to the Knightmare future which is what the computer meant when it said "the future has now taken root in the present." Other than that I agree with everything you said

In all honesty, I think that the Snyder cut is a bad representation of DC and it's heroes for many reasons: 1. Superman. All of Zack Snyder's films doesn't seem to understand who Superman is, how he's a hero, and why he does the good he does, especially in the Snyder cut. One main thing that the theatrical cut got right over the theatrical cut is the core of Superman's character. The theatrical cut at least had Superman be Superman. In the Snyder cut, the film had Superman wear the black suit for no reason other than to look cool, and they had Superman perform acts of unnecessary brutality against an enemy he could have easily subdued. Not to mention that other than Batman and maybe Wonder Woman, Superman has no real connection with the justice league. As well as the whole evil Superman scenario, which is not only a worse case scenario, but it is an overused scenario. 2. Wonder Woman. Having Wonder Woman kill terrorists in front of children who in turn want to be just like her, makes her out to be a bad influence. That alone was enough of a problem. There is also a new theme for Wonder Woman that gets old really quick because it is overused in this one film. Also, while Wonder Woman is the only member of the justice league that I justify killing Steppenwolf, her reasoning behind her killing Steppenwolf is the problem. Wonder Woman killed Steppenwolf not for justice, but for her own personal vendetta, which while understandable is still not a sign of justice, which is part of the league's name. It would have been better for Wonder Woman's moral character if Darkseid just killed Steppenwolf instead of her doing it. 3. Batman having Lois show up as a contingency plan is better than having Lois just conveniently show up in the nick of time before Superman killed Batman. It at least shows Batman being competent and possibly learning from the past. 4. Martian Manhunter is a wasted cameo in the Snyder cut. The entire earth is in peril, and the Martian Manhunter has the power to help, but does nothing to help with the situation. 5. Having Flash be hit by a random shot from a parademon, so to the justice league fail, only to have the Flash be a deus ex machina just feels like a cop out, especially when there aren't any consequences. Not mention that Flash doesn't utilize his speed to help civilians like he could have. At least in the theatrical cut, when the justice league first confronted Steppenwolf, Flash got the civilians to safety himself, instead of getting in the way and doing little to help in the Snyder cut version of events. Even when Flash used his speed to stop falling debris, Cyborg still had to cover up for Flash failing to stop piece of falling debris. I also felt that Flash connected better with Cyborg and Superman in the theatrical cut. In the Snyder cut, Flash said that Superman was his hero, but outside of battling a Superman that doesn't fully know who he is, Flash has no real interactions or connections with Superman's in the Snyder cut. 6. While I do think that Cyborg is improved in the Snyder cut, I honestly don't think that the Snyder cut needed to kill off his father just for his character arc. Also, in the theatrical cut Cyborg didn't need help to access the motherboxes. I think the Snyder cut had Cyborg need help from Flash just because Flash wouldn't have had much to do otherwise. 7. More than the DC heroes, I think that the Snyder cut did a disservice to Darkseid. Only Darkseid in the past, which still is a bad first impression for the DCEU's biggest villain. Darkseid being part of the failed first invasion of earth not only makes Darkseid look bad, but it creates a huge plot hole. It makes Darkseid look bad because while Darkseid is defeated by actual gods, he doesn't live up to his multiverse level threat, especially since Darkseid almost died in that battle. He was fortunate that he got out of that battle alive, but he lost some credibility as a significant threat. Zack Snyder only explained why Darkseid didn't come back to earth due to his defeat causing a power struggle that took some time to resolve. It still doesn't fix the obvious plot hole of why Darkseid couldn't find the earth again when he himself was there and it has the one thing he covets, the anti life equation. Steppenwolf himself should have immediately realized that earth was the planet that defeated Darkseid since according to Desaad, Darkseid's defeat is well-known, and they lost the motherboxes on only earth. It makes no sense why Darkseid can't remember earth's location. I actually enjoyed the theatrical cut more than the Snyder cut. I felt that the theatrical cut better represents DC and it's characters.

I feel you overthought your review by focusing in on problems without zooming out to see the whole. One example, Barry DID get repercussions for f-ing with the timeline: 1) Evil Superman who will bring about the dream sequence at the end of the film and 2) by f-ing with time at the end the portal opened so that Darkseid could see to Earth setting up the inevitability that he will eventually come. THOSE are his, for lack of a better term, "Flashpoint" payback for f-ing with time. And I can go point by point through your opinion. In the end, you'd already made up your mind before you watched it and you made a review to fit those ideas, exactly the same problem you make in critiquing The Flash (which I largely agree with).

The Snyder Cut didn't deserve all the glory because it wasn't earned.

This was the first movie I watched on HBO, and it was complete mess. Nothing is explained, nothing makes sense and I was probably more confused in the end as the entire movie plays out with two god-level time-manipulating heros removing any sense of danger at any point in the movie.

I watched ZSJL 4 times and watched Avengers Endgame 2 times. In my opinion Avengers Endgame is a much bigger mess than ZSJL.
