I feel like it's very appropriate that this movie was released at the end of 2021, a year ravaged by the COVID pandemic, because it kinda mirrors it: A completely nonsensical situation no-one can wrap their heads around that has massive consequences for literally everyone, but is saved by the actual human connections and relationships that remind everyone what we're committing these huge sacrifices for. Awesome video Gio!

The quintessential “good characters can save a bad movie” They really make you care about the characters to the point where most people don’t even really mention just how insane the plot actually is

Just want to say you’re really brave to say this movie has flaws. People have been getting attacked for not having this movie be their favourite Spider-Man movie, so it’s nice to have a review that isn’t only praising the movie

This is one of those movies where I absolutely dont care about its obvious flaws and that I am going to rewatch a lot of times when it comes out in HD

Venom did actually know Peter was Spiderman because all the symbiotes from other universes are connected. Venom knows Peter is Spiderman, its just down in his head and he doesn't realize it, that's why in the Venom Let There Be Carnage credit scene he recognizes Peter and thinks he knows that person.

The timeline is explained in Loki how it creates an different universe thats Parallel to the one before. Also venom has Knowledge across the multiverse. Also the Memories are erased people from knowing peter park not spiderman, so tony knows peter as spiderman. But people that knew peter first always see spiderman as peter like mj and ned. But some people remember them as spiderman but remove the part where they knows he’s peter.

My best explanation to what happens to the storyline once the villains are transported back, is that the new cured villains live in their own new multiverse. Since we learn in Endgame and Loki this is how new Multiverse are created. So Norman will still be dead in Otto’s universe. Just to put it out there cuz I know it’s very confusing, but Ned didn’t exactly bring Andrew and Tobey into the MCU, he merely portal’d them into his house after they were already transported onto their earth from the spell. Also it would have been nice to see Ned mentioning his magic prowess in other movies, but I think that line he had early in the movie where he says he was told his family has a magic connection and he can feel a tingling feeling on his fingers was good enough. Everything else I agree! The video was amazing and very well thought out and spoken!

The villains, once they’re sent back home, create branch timelines and nexus events, based on what Loki and endgame establish.

The Venom symbiote is a hive mind of info across dimensions and Topher Grace Venom knows Peter is Spiderman. Thats why was teleported after sharing the Hive Mind at end of Venom 2. Bigger question is how Electro got here as according to him he thought Spider-Man was black so clearly didn't know.

As venom says in LTBC, the symbiotes have a hivemind over multiple universes, meaning that Tom Hardy's venom is linked to the SM3 venom who knew Peter was spiderman which is why he was brought over

I personally didn't mind Aunt May getting the "with great power comes great responsibility" line either. It's often falsely attributed to Uncle Ben; he never said that in Amazing Fantasy 15. It was the narrator who relayed it in that comic, and later versions attributed it to Ben such as the Raimi movies. If anything, that confusion makes me happy because it shows the impact the films had on the mythos.

The Venom sequel explained that all Venoms are apart of a hive mind throughout all multiverse, so one Venom knowing Peter’s identity means all Venoms know

The timeline for the Raimi and Webb universes stay the same. They just created another timeline where for example: Goblin was erased but the original timeline where Goblin stayed and was killed in the end of SM1 still exists.

Honestly, I feel like Dr. Strange is a lot more consistent in this movie than people give him credit. Looking at his other appearances in the MCU, he more or less acts the same. In times of levity, he’s more relaxed, experimental, and risky, like during his training when he plays with portals and the time stone. But when things get serious, he becomes more pragmatic. Like being willing to let Tony and Peter die to protect the time stone. Strange doesn't tell Peter how the spell works. But he also doesn't tell Tony how the Avengers win against Thanos in Infinity War. Dude literally says we have one chance of winning, but I'll let that be a surprise in 5 years. I'm starting to think Strange is just kind of a dick.

The villains going back to their time just creates another brench in the timeline. It doesn't Change the timeline of our beloved spider-men.

Imagine the spell worked the first time and when it's completed, Dr. Strange sees this kid standing in front of him who he can't remember. "Who're you, kid?" "Uh..."

9:15 he actually helps a lot when he adds portals. And he is important to peter as he is his best friend. In 1 part of the movie he said he couldnt go out there if he didnt know that they were safe.

Great video Gio! For me this movie was a very fun movie to just watch and relax and I loved it but there were some weird multiverse type of things but still Spider-Man is one of my favorite superhero’s end this was definitely a movie i just enjoyed :)

I feel like it's more closure than redemption for Andrew Garfield

Based on endgame, the time lines will simply branch and it won't affect the history of the other movies. That's if other multiverse also follow this rule. Im more worried as to how the villains came back, do they just go back from the point they were taken?, If so then electro still dies since he was already being overloaded. Otto might live if he seeks help from peter to stop his machine instead of drowning it by himself. Though if in TASM 2 if peter and gwen sees electro goes missing for a second and comes back with his normal body they might stop the overload but i doubt a normal body would be able to survive that much electricity before they could stop it. The only way i can see electro survive is if he was gone for more than a second or enough time for gwen and andrew to stop and wonder what happened then he comes back as a normal guy giving up and explaining himself.

While I agree with majority of his criticisms, there are a few I didn't agree with. For example, Ned: we know in Doctor Strange that with the portals you only need to have an intense focus on the destination, object or person and not have to train. The only reason Strange had a hard time with the portals was his unwillingness to believe he could do it. That is why when he was left stranded in the arctic he was able to open it because he had no other option but to believe in himself or he would freeze to death. So with that, I can definitely understand why Ned would be able to open the portal to Peter Parker but not his Peter Parker. Also, I was a bit surprised he didn't talk about how all the NYC citizens just collectively believed the video on a news site that is shown to have a bias against Spider-Man. There should have still been some level of support for Spider-Man and not just have everyone turn into a mob. Another point, I can understand why Peter would not know to go to admissions since he already had gotten a letter that rejected him so he might have not seen that as a viable option anymore considering the public's perception of him at the time. All in all, great vid though 👍

7:25 venom is a mortal enemy against Spider-Man, nobody knows but the writers thought that adding venom would be to much for the movie. I think we would have had a good reason but they just didnt want to add him so there wasn’t to much. Spider-Man 4 hopefully explains it.

the way time travels and multiverses work in Marvel or MCU as a whole is like how Professor Hulk in Endgame has explained and also in Loki, basically whenever a timeline is changed, it creates a new timeline with that new changes and new future while the original timeline stays the same. So the Spiderman and The Amazing Spiderman timelines are still the same, they just created new time branches for all the cured villains. Hope this could help u G.I.Gio, anyway great video!

First off, you have my sympathies for all that’s been going on in your life and your family’s lives and that you guys are having an awesome start to this new year. 6:11, To quote another Marvel film, Days of Future Past: “There’s a theory in quantum physics that time is immutable. It’s like a river - you can throw a pebble in and create a ripple, but the current always corrects itself. No matter what you do the river just keeps flowing in the same direction.” The way I understood the implications of this film was that each villain ends up creating a branch timeline due to being returned to their reality cured and therefore diverging from their fates, wether it be to die like Norman or to continue on living or fighting Spider-Man like Connors if indeed he is being pulled from the events of the first Amazing Spider-Man film and not a later point. As presented in Endgame and Loki, a timeline/universe as portrayed in the MCU is like a combination of a tree trunk and a river. Rivers bend and distort constantly wether because the water is flowing naturally or because something disturbs it’s flow and makes a ripple that is then corrected by the current. Tree trunks sprout branches that stretch out in different directions from the trunk. A timeline only sprouts branch timelines when a significant disturbance occurs. The disturbance is either naturally occurring (such as when someone is either just as likely or at least almost as likely to make a choice or perform an action other than the one they make in the main timeline for example) or are artificially produced by people tampering with the timeline as the Avengers do when time travel using the Quantum Realm or Strange does with his reality warping memory spell. If something or someone is taken from a timeline, a branch is made, but it can erases if that person or thing gets returned at the moment they were taken, allowing the flow of events to remain, which is what happens when the Avengers return the Infinity Stones they took from their past and what Strange tries to do to the villains taken from their own timelines as he both fears and doesn’t fully know the implications of any disturbance of any timeline not being corrected. However, with the events of No Way Home and, previously, Into The Spiderverse, other timelines completely separate from the MCU timeline. They are their own trees/rivers and therefore can have their own branches. I’m thinking Peter’s actions don’t really change the integrity of the other universe storylines because as of the rules established in Endgame and Loki and stated by Strange himself…..Peter can’t really change the fate.

I totally agree with you. I would rate the movie 6/10 at max. Movie's FULL of plot holes and inconsistencies, the only reason it is getting praised is because of the fan service. Thanks for speaking out your honest opinion, I've seen so many people pinning for this messy movie, it's unbelievable.

Well second times the charm here's my shits: Nostalga: 8/10 (I kinda wanted to see James Franco and Topher Grace) CGI: 9/10 "A must have" death scene with THE line: 3/10 (I barely care for Aunt May in general and she took way too long to die) Supporting cast: 8/10 Tobey: 8/10 (somewhat biased b/c I wanted a Bully Maguire meme to be mentioned aside from "my back") Andrew: 8.5/10 (didn't hate him in the part, only TASM2 but he was even better here) Tom: 8/10 (ngl if he killed GG, I would say 9/10 but he was really good with the emotional bits and I can't call him Ironboy Jr. anymore since he got fucked with a light pole by the end of the movie)

I felt like Dr. strange could have told peter, Are you sure you want me to do this spell, because that means everyone including me and everyone you love will forget before he started the spell. I also felt the spell was weird, because it's suppose to make everyone forget peter is spidey, not forget everything peter has done with people like peter being in a relationship with MJ, or Ned being friends, it would have been the first movie all over again except he doesn't know he's Spider-Man

Regarding the changes to the timelines of the Tobey and Andrew movies, they are still canon, but they now have a bunch of alternate branching timelines.

venom travels to that universe at the end of venom 2 right when venom gives eddie access to his symbiote hive knowledge which he says spans "across universes" so he gained the knowledge that peter parker is spider-man from a symbiote from another universe, most likely another venom. say, the version of venom we saw in spider-man 3 (the raimi version) knew that peter was spider-man, so maybe that was a piece of the knowledge venom bestowed upon eddie nanoseconds before they were transported to the mcu. were u not listening when venom was talking in that post credits scene? ya scrub

I love how people never wanted to see another origin story again, only for ending up seeing ANOTHER origin story of six freaking films that wasn't even planned in the first place, and everyone is completely fine with this lmao. Can't wait to see what they're gonna do with the Freshman Year show and explain why Peter avoided Uncle Ben like the plague and acted out of character throughout the entire trilogy XD

My theory regarding the changes to the multiverse is that the raimi spiderman and tasm timelines will be split (following the endgame rules). Raimi spiderman's timeline will have four branches: original, the one where norman osborn is cured, one where doc ock is cured and the one where sandman is cured. TASM timeline will have three branches: original, the one where lizard is cured and the one where lizard is cured. Regarding the spidermen, there are no changes to them, so they must be reinserted back into the original timelines from where they came from just like venom.

Venom was there because of the symbiote hive mind that is linked with other versions of the Venom Symbiote that fought Spider-Man, but how tf was Electro there?

Even though this Movie has problems and flaws with the question of why couldn't the Spell could involve Mysterio,the Movie is great and amazing while simple,the Characters are good and likable,the funny moments makes me laugh so hard,the Action is spectacular,the consequence has risk and emotional doesn't hold punches,the Story has tragic and lost while learning Responsibility,the Spider-men are fantastic that feels nostalgic,the Villains are dangerous while having their own reasons,and the Home Trilogy brings a Origin Story of grow,change,and development to Peter Parker to become the Spider-man we all know and love,all in all 10 out of 10,easily the best Movie of 2021,it's not perfect but it's a love letter to the Fan an it shows that Marvel Studios are more faithful to Spider-man than any other Marvel property and I'm looking forward to more MCU content of Spider-man and to Tom Holland to return to the Role sooner rather than later because like CW with DC,Sony doesn't fully understand the lore of our Friendly Neighborhood Spider-man. I enjoyed the hell out of the movie, until they got to the end and basically took everything i enjoyed about this version of Spider-Man from him. The timeline of the Sam Raimi movie and the amazing Spider-Man movie doesn't change, it just create a new branches of timeline, if you watch Loki, they explain that changing thing in the past doesn't change the future, it just create new branches timeline. Edit : so basically, when Tobey and Andrew Spiderman return to their own universe, nothing change.

The thing about the timelines, according to the MCU, is that changes result in new branches. That's initially presented as a bad thing as of Infinity War and Endgame. However, as of Loki, I don't think it's a problem anymore.

Great video. No Way Home is one of those films I love but also hate. From a plotting standpoint, it is a mess. As you stated, the writers purposefully want to distract from some of the more glaring problems, like what would happen to the prior films when Peter redeems the villains or how the spell works. Personally, for the latter, I blame the MCU and how it has depicted magic(a lack of rules and consistency). The first half of the movie I also argue is a bit rough with regards to how things are executed and getting the main plot rolling. I would disagree with you on Ned. I liked him a lot in this movie. A step up from FFH. That said, I think what makes me love this movie is the character writing. With the exception of Dr. Strange(plot device and sadly ruined in his own movie), Peter, MJ, and the villains are great. The dialogue between the actors was great and engaging and Peter Parker's arc in this movie was phenomenal. This movie managed to take One More Day and make it work. That's insane to think about, given how terrible that story was. And I won't lie; the ending for this movie is one of my favorite endings to a CB movie. It doesn't excuse the weak plot and the other flaws you bring up and if I were ranking this film on an objective scale, I'd give a solid 6.5 maybe 7. But subjectively this film to me is an 8/10. I wouldn't call this the best Spider-Man movie(into the Spider-verse is king) but its character writing alone for me is enough to bump this film up significantly as I'm more willing to forgive a story if its characters are well written.

Thing is I think they purposely left out exactly what paters spells means so that we can figure out what it means in later movies. Remember the MCU is a string of movies following the same story.

Because Toby Maguire's Spiderman has attached to the same Venom symbiote, he understood that the Peter Parker (Tom Holland) he saw is Spider.an, and that Toby Maguire destroyed him in an alternate timeline, but because this Venom and that Venom are different, probably also understood why that was the case. Possibly, he is unaffected by Dr. Strange's spell, but we just have to wait and see. Before Venom attached to Spiderman, he attached to Deadpool, in the comics, and went insane. Because Deadpool has a confusing thing for Spiderman, I say confusing because it's uncertain as to if he just wants to be friends, or much more than, or even kill Spiderman, but because Spiderman later rejects Venom, this is what makes it turn evil.

the only answer i can give is that, as explained in Engame and LOKI, when you change time, you create a different timeline where it becomes its own universe. In what if, we see that all the episodes are based on usiverses where things went differently, which makes it so that there is a universe out there where otto is good but still died to drown the machine, where max lost his powers and maybe didn't die because he probably was in the middle of spidy overcharging him, lizard is good, norman is good and changes all the movies and stuff. In infinite universes, this is how they are created. OH! and venom knows that pete is spiderman because before he got to that universe, he was talking about how the simbiotes share almost infinite multivesal knowledge.

in the 2nd venom movie, we learn that venom is sort of like a hive mind. he has information from across universes and just as we hear that, hes tansproted to the MCU. Not a coincidence. That single line notifies us, that in some universe venom knew who spider man was. And what other universe could that be? Yes, you are correct, Spider-Man 3. At the end venom gets shoved back into his universe due to the spell. The next part makes little sense though and will need to be explained as he leaves a small piece of himself, possibly the version that knows peter partker is spider man behind. However the spell should have had that version of venom completely forget who peter is in the first place.

Like I said in the last Premier before the RU-vid CopyRight Shit. What could have solved the entire movie was just make everyone forget everything Mysterio said as Mysterio. The spell wouldn't have gone haywire because they wouldn't have needed to change the spell several times which caused it to go haywire in the first place. But if that happened then we wouldn't get good writing or the entire movie so I'm not complaining.

as far as your first problem with the movie as far as the parameters of the spell, i believe that all the events are the same but as just as if peter is replaced in the memories by a face and name you can remember. just like how you may have a childhood memory of jumping off a roof with someone but you can’t remember who that was. also when it comes to the other heroes memories they may replace him with spider-man. so tony’s relationship would be with spider-man and not peter. the way that the time travel works was explained in endgame and the loki series. when the characters go back to their universe they create a different timeline that will most likely be pruned depending on if kane is dead or not at this point in time. the movies will still exist as normal but there will be another timeline in which an entirely different path will be taken that know one knows yet.

Whaat? All the problems you mention are explain in the movie or have obvious explanations. And i'm not been hater, is the true. For example, Ned didn't bring Tobey and Andrew to that universe, it was the Strange spell, because when they enter the portal they said that they have been looking for Tom in that universe.
