June 4, 1961.
President and Mrs Kennedy arrive in London for the christening of their niece, Anna Christina Radziwill.
Met with Prime Minister Macmillan.
Later, they dine with the Queen and
Prince Philip at Buckingham Palace.
In 1965, Jacqueline Kennedy and Queen Elizabeth II dedicated Great Britain's official memorial to President Kennedy at Runnymede, England.
The memorial included several acres
of meadowland given in perpetuity from Britain to the U.S., near where the Magna Carta had been signed by King John in 1215.

John and Jackie Kennedy were so beautiful,one of a kind they were and I don't think the White House will ever have such a glamorous couple like them. God rest their souls

Oh what bits of celluloid treasures! ❤️❤️JFK and JBK! What a missed and magical time. Jackie was such a classy lady and Jack was so “dashing and debonair”. Thank you for the wonderful memories of a very, very special time in our history.

Actually it was a Russian submarine officer named Vasily Arkhipov who saved the world from a nuclear launch during the Cuban missile crisis. It is not well known but it is a very interesting story and he never got the recognition he deserved. The Russian sub lost contact with Moscow and he and another officer were authorized to launch the missiles but they had to both agree to do it. The other officer was ready to launch but Arkhipov would not agree.

The President of the United States being warmly welcomed in London, back in 1961 when being president of the US meant something, back in the day when WE were England's best friend in the world. Now instead of half a million people lining the streets to catch a glimpse of the First Couple, there are half a million protesting Trump's visit and his recent marriage to Russia. JULY 2018.

The Runnymede bequeathal is surprising and I think little known. Imagine that! So, I could go camp there without a passport, right? It's ours. I mean I'd have to parachute in or something . . .Whaddya think? Good idea? er, . . .

In those days it was like that! Life was much more formal and mannered! As the First Lady, Jackie was not a head of state, but "only" a commoner! So she cortseyed to another head of state, that above all, is a monarch! The president, a head of state, didn't cortsey! Yet he bowed a little bit, because the monarch is a lady! He wouldn't bow to a king! In Hamburg, a century old republic, the Sovereign & Ruling Mayor awaits official guests on top of the City Hall's steps! For the Queen he came down!

Did I miss something? I did not see Jackie curtsy to the Queen. Why would she??She is not a Subject, she was an American Citizen, just as Nancy Reagan did not curtsy.Nice though that a memorial was put up for an American President.Brits are our closest allies.I will never forget .the Prime Minister of England was one of the first, if not THE FIRST to come to the USA after 9/11

Nothing wrong with Jackie doing that, it's an individual choice, didn't mean she was returning America's sovereignty to Britain. Also why did it become an issue with Nancy Reagan? I'm guessing every first lady since the Queen's coronation met her , what was different that to curtsy or not to curtsy became the question?
