"if your students are stupid they're not going to challenge you". I challenged a lecturer back in uni. A whole new theory on a piece of literature, I forget what is was. Backed up with footnotes. Possibly the most thrilling period of fired up research and essay compilation of the whole of my time there. I was out to shake things up. It got squashed by a single line in red pen "let's not go off on flights of fantasy" it said. And that was the day I lost all faith in the education system

I paused this video halfway when I heard about writing. I began to write down an issue I have with the Christian church. Though a Christian, I have issues with how Christians(as a community) react to certain type of people. Therefore, I wrote pages about an argument that should be more contemplated before jumping into ridiculing individuals which end up repelling them away from the core of our belief. I am unsure if that made sense but it is definitely a powerful thing to write because I think I just came up with a perspective that no body in the church could actually argue with. I won’t be able to tell many because they think so black and white. However, if one is interested in it, now I have an amazing insight to share.

This is why I really appreciate my graduate school education, which happened at a time when universities were still educating people. My graduate mentor told me once, "You'll never realize how much or little you understand something, until you have to write it." That is absolutely the case and is a good case for the why to write. You write because that will illuminate your true understanding of the topic.

He's right. I am in my late 30s in a fast-moving organization. Every battle is won or lost based upon articulation, communication, and being able to argue your points concisely. Im in a fast paced environment too, very competitive, here are some tips: - Clear your mind and organize your thoughts starting from: 1. What's your goal? 2. What do you want to convey and how? 3. Who's your audience and why should they care (this is important, people are more receptive if they can connect to why this should matter to them) - In some situations it's also worth thinking what you want to avoid - Be professional and direct, most miscommunications I see is caused from making assumptions _ Validate by asking questions _ Anticipate objections and have a plan to address them - be prepared!

This was something I struggled with in school as a kid, I could never understand why we was having to do what we was doing in most classes. If they had just told me what Jordan said, it would have made everything a lot clearer but they failed to communicate properly and treated me like a silly child that should just shut up and copy down what's on the board end of.

Writing is a key factor but I believe that using our minds in general will sharpen it. We're quick to pick up our calculator as opposed to figuring in our heads. Every chance we get, we ought to use our mind. Even learning new tasks will sharpen it. Using a non dominant hand or foot to complete a task is a big one. Think about this. The right side of the brain controls the left side of the body. If I am more dominant with one side and uncontrolled with the other, I'm only engaging a portion of my minds capacity. Begin practicing with your non dominant hand, with writing, and see your cognitive ability, logic, reason, wit, understanding, self control all increase drastically. Yes, even self control. When we gain control over our body, interestingly enough, control over our emotions, thoughts, actions, desires, and will are all recognized. "Self" control.

"Why" is the one answer I see mostly underserved in any aspects of life. And answers like "well, because we did it like that" is not an answer. Its just an reassuring for the person to be right about what they do. The real way to explain a "why" is to take the topic, lay it out, explain the important aspects for the question and conclude with a logic outcome. Doing all this while making sure that figuring the "why" out helps the person to have less "why's" in the future. Teach them to think for themselfs. Great Video!

0:15 Exactly 💯 This I realized after moving onto college from school where you know, the creative writing skills like essay, letter writing, extempore and stuff like that were almost nil. At that time it felt quite useless & forced. And then I realized that man without those it has become tougher these days to come up with thoughts to write upon a topic or even to think in a proper logical order about matters to pen it down. So yes definitely we must keep ourselves engaged in some or the other form of creative writing throughout our lives. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙂🤓 ✍ 📃

It starts with your ability to think deeply, then continues with your adequate expression of those thoughts: Requiring decent a skill level both in writing and oratory. Bitcoin price has been fluctuating lately and it's very frustrating to those who buy and hold.. The good thing about this space is that you can buy the dips and put them into active trades while waiting for a pump in price because it is inevitable. Price will go up and down but the market has been so profitable despite price up and down. As for me I have been trading with a professional trader who trades on my behalf and has the required skills and experience and it has been profiting.

When I was in high school I taught myself TI-BASIC, the top level programming language of TI graphing calculators. I wrote all kinds of programs, one of which automated the solving of quadratics because I found them tedious and pointless, and I was far more likely to make a mistake by doing them manually. One day, the entire 90 minute class was just a test on quadratics. So I spent the first ten minutes programming the provided calculator, and then the next 10 minutes blowing through the test. Enter A, B, and C, it would spit out the positive and negative values, press another key and it would draw the graph. I was accused of cheating. I explained myself but the teacher didn't believe that I wrote and memorized the program. I wasn't out of trouble until I got an opportunity to sit there under supervision with a notebook and a pen, and I wrote the whole program out on paper, with comments, and able to explain exactly what each line did and why. And even then, instead of praise, I was met with anger, disapproval, and vitriol. Ended up with a D- on that test even though every answer was precisely correct because I didn't do it the way I was "supposed" to. It was one of the best and worst experiences of my life. My big takeaway was that teachers especially don't like students that are smarter than them. I was flabbergasted that an adult math teacher didn't understand a FOR loop, let alone IF THEN statements. It broke my spirit, I stopped attending a lot of classes, opting instead to go skateboard and smoke weed and fool around with girls and just take the punishment that would ensue. It was far less grief than arguing with idiot teachers.
@googloocraft1217
@googloocraft1217 Год назад
@@nutbastard I mean the answer is just 1 point. The process on paper is where you get most of the points. If you only write the answer of course you will get a bad grade. This how the correction is set because if you do a error by taping the calcul on your calculator you will at lest get the points from what you wrote on paper.

It wasn't the lesson the teacher intended to teach me, but it was the better lesson to learn. The only thing that pissed me off about the whole situation is that what I was doing was not a shortcut. It required a complete understanding of the math to be able to write that program from memory. So it was revealed to me that learning wasn't the point of school. The actual point was obedience training, was to instill some sort of sick blind reverence for authority. Yeah, no, I'm cool off that, I'd rather go skateboarding.
