If you experience knee pain after practicing Tai Chi, there is a good chance that you are making a common mistake, or two, while training. In this video I cover several of the common Tai Chi mistakes people make that put their knees at greater risk of injury. Many people practice Tai Chi because they want to keep their joints healthy, but without proper technique their practice can work against them. This is only Part 1, so be sure to check back for Part 2 to learn about even more mistakes that you want to avoid while practicing Taiji. Stay safe and healthy!
Error 1 - Twisting the Leg 0:42
Error 2 - Knee-Toe Alignment 5:42
Error 3 - Peng and Silk-Reeling 7:47 (This video covers Peng and Silk-Reeling is discussed in the next video, so be sure to watch it too)

A very accurate record of how to guard your body anyway, not just when performing TaiChi. Nor would it be bad for all of us to return to the basic steps here and there, as very important almost imperceptible shifts are lost in the complexity of the exercise. Thanks.

I agree. Going back to the basics is always worthwhile. That is where the real progress is made.

So when you turn to the right, the left hip is going somehow in the opposite direction, is it correct?

Easier said than done at times - but worth the awareness and effort! No short cuts in tai chi - am I right? 😉

You are completely right. In Tai Chi, short cuts are a guaranteed way to take twice as long to reach a goal. :)
