Thank you Bill! This was awesome. I had checked the heating element, all of the fuses and everything was looking good! My son happened to walk by and say "I think it is the timer, the timer has not been acting right". Watched your video and sure enough, nothing happens on the ohm meter when you turn it to timed heat! Super happy, thank you SO MUCH for doing this!!!

Very helpful instructions on checking key components in the dryer. My dryer had heating, but took too long to dry clothes. Your instructions helped me confirm nothing was wrong with the dryer. I went back to my extra long dryer vent and blew out lots of stuck lint (with a leaf blower). Wife is happy again.

Thank you SO MUCH for creating this video! Of course, the dryer stops drying at 8 o'clock on a school night while there's another large load in the washer waiting for the dryer to finish. Fast forward to finding this awesome video, and we were back in business within a couple of hours. (Most of the time was spent cleaning out the vents and the inside of the dryer - egad!) But we traced the problem to the non-resettable thermostat and had fun taking turns banging it on the floor like a snap n' pop until the continuity was restored (my husband won). God bless you for taking the time to make and post these awesome videos! You are a genius!!

Perfect step-by-step instructions. Non-resettable thermal cutoff was the problem. Followed to you other video on how to reset it... and it worked. After making the cutoff meet my garage floor... success! Thank you very much. For the people that don't know how to access these components... search how to access the timer on your model, or how to access the heater on your model. Lots of coverage on this out in Internet land.

Thanks Bill. This is still a very relevant video. I am a lowly homeowner, but will try to repair something if I can. Dryer stopped working (no heat), so I "assumed" it was the heating element since it had gone out once before and $230+ later I had it repaired. This time I simply ordered one on the internet, installed it and nothing. Found your video, tested the coil (no problem), but one of the thermostats was bad. I slammed it on the floor a couple of times (as shown in another of your videos), and like magic it was back to working. Cleaned out the vent and everything is good to go. Thanks so much for your helpful video and saving me big bucks.

Bill! Cheers for this extra step in diagnosis at the end. After testing everything (almost) I was scratching my head trying to figure out what could be causing this no heating issue, and it turns out it is the motor switch! Very cool! My dryer was stuck in ultra high hot. I shut it off and allowed it to cool down. Then I checked the heating element and one of the insulators that separate the heater coils broke, which resulted in the element grounding to the frame inside the heater box. I corrected the broken insulator and checked the element for resistance. Element tested good. However, the thermal cutoff was not working. Using the method you demonstrated to reset it worked on the first try. You have saved me time and money. Thanks for the great video.!

Your video was right on. Followed your easy to follow steps and tacked it down to a sensor downstream from the heating element. Smacked the sensor off the floor and heater started working. Bill, thank you so much. I love doing stuff around the house to save money. I followed your step by step instructions. I forgot that I had stuffed steel wool in the dryer vent hood to keep out the mice after trapping some in the basement. Then I turned on the dryer..... then I remembered the door wouldn't be able to open, and ran down to turn it off. Too late - it wasn't heating. I followed everything you suggested and it was the thermos cut off. It took longer to get the back panel off than to test everything. THEN............ I tried your secret trick to reset the thermo cut off thermostat, THAT WORKED TOO!!!! I was so excited. THANK YOU!!!

One of the first videos I watched when my Kenmore dryer stopped heating. Thanks for taking time to share your knowledge with us. Your video helped me out tremendously. I think others have referenced that your video did not indicate where on the dryer to find the items you were testing. Not a big deal, but some of us are dealing with a large amount of ignorance. LOL!

Bill - Thank you, thank you, thank you. I've bought my house 15 years ago. The Kenmore 90 came with the house. Over the 15 years, plus the years before I owned the dryer, it has never been cleaned, including the 3 foot duct. Today, I put a load in the dryer. The drum was spinning, but no heat. F 'n A!!! I did some research and discovered your video. I took the entire unit apart, cleaned it up (it seemed like a cubic yard of lint - lint was everywhere and it was thick). Then I tested all of the switches. The one that wasn't working was the thermal cutoff. I ended up using your (and the "old man's") trick to fix the thermal cutoff. It saved me $30+ dollars and having to wait a week for the part to come to my house. Awesome. Great explanation and video quality as well. Thank you.

Excellent video! I have one comment so that others might avoid the pain and suffering of a dull mind :-) The dryer Bill checks has no problems! My dryer's timer dial turned the dryer on but no heat came on. It didn't make sense that something that was turning the dryer on and off wasn't working. I kept rechecking the heating element and thermostats. The continuity test between the two prongs he tests on the timer dial showed that was the problem! I searched the part number on the internet and big brother Amazon had it on Prime for cheaper and quicker delivery than Sears. It worked like a charm. Thank you Bill!!

Thanks a lot. I Was able to narrow down the issue with the help of your video. Heater cutoff was triggered and I was able to reset it using your special technic. Funny thing is that the dryer stoped working 2 weeks after opening it to change the belt tensioner. I believe that when I put it back in the closet, the air hose was crushed and that’s what caused the overheat. You saved me a lot of trouble and money, thanks a lot.

Thanks for this! When tested, everything had proper continuity. I cleaned up lots of lint inside the dryer. More significantly, I also found a considerable amount of lint inside the lint screen duct (below the door). I removed as much lint as possible from every inch of the ducting: heating element box leading to the drum, lint screen duct, blower, outlet and vent pipe. After reassembly, it seems to work (heat) much better. Time will tell.

Thanks to your video (and a few like it) we are drying again, instead of just tumbling clothes at room-temperature air. Our Kenmore differs from the one in your video, so I had to extemporize, to solve how it comes apart. Don’t know why anyone would design these things so that you have to disassemble the entire unit to get at the thermistor, but you do. An opportunity I suppose to vacuum the insides. The thermistor itself was only off by two units on my multimeter, but that was enough to prevent the heating coils from coming on. Luckily I was able to find an outlet willing to put parts in a bucket while I stood well back from the door. Thanks for saving me a couple hundred dollars on a service call (during a pandemic) or worse yet, a new dryer.

Man! Gotta say, I just had this very problem. Of course I ignored the "Well I guess it's time to get a new one." comment and said "No. Let me take a look at it." Turns out the vent wasn't sealed properly and instead of getting caught in the lint screen, lint was just getting blown inside the unit. [What average user would expect that to be a thing?] Well, obviously the thermostat was tripped and after using your handy resetting the non-resettable trick, we were back up and running. And all it cost me was an hour of my time! [most of which was spent vacuuming the crap out of that thing.] Thanks!
