Getting back into some harder hitting ramping up for the upcoming season. --Some thoughts after this session--
-more sore than I should be
-noticed at first I was using lots of arm and not enough
lower body.. once I got my legs more involved started feeling better
-timing - hitting ball too late not hitting out in front of me
-backhand rotation super stiff, lacking fluidity
-serve body rotation needs to be more fluid

Welcome back, Andrew! It appears that you're hitting the ball from both wings better than ever. If this is "rusty", I'd hate to play you when you're not. Haha. Your forehand is completely different. The take back is a lot shorter and your loop is a lot smaller. You are also using your legs more (kinetic chain) and not just arming it. Also, your wrist is a lot more firm especially at contact. You are really hitting through the ball. Your forehands are not loopy anymore. You're hitting the ball a lot deeper with lower net clearance. Well done. Just keep playing and posting, brother.

Hey man I’m glad you’re back. I would say work on footwork and anticipation. I’ve been working on those two things for a few months and I have noticed a huge improvement. You should try to get up into the court whenever you can. This means you really gotta watch your opponent’s position and either move back or forward preemptively. It sounds weird at first but there are clear tells. For example If you can anticipate being on defense you can slightly move back just before or at your opponent’s contact. This will help you catch the ball in your strike zone and set yourself up for a more neutral/offensive shot. The ball was kinda jumping in and out of your strike zone. Better feet + anticipation should help that. Hope that helps dude!

Forehand form looks nice and crisp you hit with a lot of topspin and loop to your shit and overall your forehand pace isn't lacking, you hit reasonably hard but if you want to start hanging with the type of guys like the one you're hitting with in this video I definitely think it wouldn't hurt you to start swinging through the ball a bit more and accelerating your racquet head right through the ball to generate some mean pace and topspin.

Andrew- the strokes look good. Not too rusty. One thing id like to see is a bit more variety on your backhand side. Specifically, when you go the slice you have a tendency to pop it up and leave your opponent a neutral ball, which I think most 5.0s will punish. If you look at the way jim courier or jimmy connors hits that slice, they really lean their shoulder over the ball and create a lot of forward momentum while creating the backspin. This keeps the ball lower and takes the bounce away. You are keeping it lower/flatter on your forehand slice and you can also come to net off that sometimes. Even though connors and courier were baseliners like you, they could always have the option of coming in off that slice. You play a lot of doubles so I know you know what to do at net.

Damn effective Player but Yes I’d agree backhand slice needs more forward punch from lean in with shoulder . At the moment it’s a bit of an upright sideways slap that only serves to keep the ball in play.

Before I get attacked - you’re solid. My two cents is to try and rotate your core/shoulders a little more often on the forehand side. Sometimes your chest is open towards the net and your swing is 80% arm. Try to focus on using larger muscles for your stroke and less of just your arm. Also it looks like you have a very firm wrist which doesn’t let you “throw” your racket at the ball, so maybe loosen your grip a little bit there. You should be able to hit a deeper and heavier ball due to the higher swing speed. (It’s a lot harder to increase swing speed if you are using your shoulder to pull your arm and a firm wrist vs a loose wrist that you are snapping through contact. Think how fed’s forehand looks like a whip with crazy racket head speed.) A biproduct of a loose wrist may also lead to a slightly earlier contact point due to your wrist being supinated instead of a linear extension of your forearm if that makes sense. That will take time away from your opponent too.

Big fan of your YT and Twitch content dude! Agree with Psy on the forehand side. I'm only a 4.0 or so but I study tennis like crazy. I think some more racket head speed and looseness would make your forehand sing. Kind same with your serve. Getting a little more core involvement on your acceleration and contact would ramp up the power.
