Jordan demanded excellence from his team. If they were good without him, it’s because he helped mold them.

Yes true but let’s stop disregarding the talent they had by crediting all of THEIR hard work to jordan. If a player isn’t good enough m, motivation from jordan does nothing. U still have to have the talent to get better and produce consistently. They put in that work themselves, not jordan. In other words, he led them to water but THEY chose to drink.

@@TheIcemanthomasu had to have been there "live" to know how unsure ppl felt about certain players, bj was just fundamentally sound nothing spectacular, grant was solid and proved himself to be reliable but he wasn't doing wat other pf were doing at the time eg. Kemp, malone,barkley and many more, cartwright was just good enough, nothing like a Ewing or Hakeem, David Robinson etc, pippin was really talented but soft as baby shit got knocked down wouldn't get backup etc the bulls weren't a sure thing the difference maker is mj, they all were role players doing their jobs around mj and pip, same goes for the 96 onwards dennis was a head case but phill made it work and it paid off kocuk was a good find the exception... and nobody knew wat Kerr was made of until the last season ppl realized he was the real deal, the bulls over achieved because of mj not like they were just cones otherwise they wouldn't be in the nba but other teams had ppl who out matched each player with the exception of mj... mj dominated "teams "offensively while solidly doing his defensive duties as well and was as dominant at that also, u guys need to watch the full games with an open mind and watch how it was masterfully played, how he used everything to his advantage to win, not just highlights

2010 Miami pre-LeBron finished 47-35 and also added Chris Bosh that off-season. The 1994 Bulls were the defending champs and although they finished with a great record (55-27), that speaks more to the level Scottie was playing at that year not to mention they also added Toni Kukoc. Hard to compare the two but it's not like LeBron joined the heat and they won +20 more games. With LeBron AND Bosh they were +11 wins and lost in the finals. You look at the 1995 Bulls who weren't a champion anymore (47-35) compared to the 1996 team that Jordan returned to for a full season in shape and they were +25 wins (72-10) with a title. I think LeBron's impact on winning is overblown. Sure he adds to a teams win percentage but most superstar players do. It started back in his rookie season, Carmelo had almost identical stats but was more efficient, his team won +26 more games compared to LeBrons +18 and the nuggets made the playoffs (Cavs did not) in a stronger conference. The NBA needed the next MJ so much the narrative started back then. Call me a conspiracy theorist but every now and again the NBA meddles to get the ratings up whether it's the draft or rescinding trades.

Jordan improved his team to the point even when he left for a season and a half they were still playoff contenders. Pip, grant and armstrong all credited practicing n working out with jordan as one of the reasons their games elevated. They knew their potentials after the 3peat n that mentality seeped into the following year.

The 93-94 Bulls played well without MJ because Mike actually made his teammates better. The core of the team (outside of Jordan, of course) remained together, and added Kukoc (who they drafted a couple seasons earlier), remaining a very solid team that Mike honed to a fine point in all those practices. They didn’t start falling apart until the following season when Horace Grant signed with the Shaq & Penny Magic. The Bulls were still 34-31 that season before Jordan rejoined the team and the went 13-4 with him to close out the season.

Add to that the bulls bench in 93 were weaker and old, cartwright, paxon, ed nealy, rodney mccray, darrel walker either left the team or retired. To replace jordan, the bulls revamped the team by drafting tony kukoc, getting luc longly and stever kerr. Plus Pippen was in his absolute prime in those years.

@aoshishinamori2037
@aoshishinamori2037 6 месяцев назад
Another thing. Some use the fact that the 93-94 Bulls lost in 7 games to the Knicks, who won in 7 games against the Pacers and then lost 3-4 against the Rockets to try to diminish Jordan's accomplishment while failing to notice that this actually run against their "MJ was a loser without Pippen" argument. How so? Well, just imagine if instead of MJ retiring at the end of '93, it was Pippen who actually left. If the Bulls, without Jordan, had (arguably) a good chance to win against the Pacers and really compete against the Rockets based on their performance against the Knicks and the Knicks' performance against the Pacers and the Rockets, then it is not unreasonable to say that Jordan, without Pippen, could have at least carried the 93-94 Bulls to the finals and even win against the Rockets.
@TheHarmAge

Or maybe it shows how competitive 90s playoff teams were? I mean Jordan did pay in the tougher Eastern conference and Bulls had to fight hard to get to the finals, where the toughest team from west was waiting. Take into account the average points teams were scoring and different defensive rules. There's a lot of components we have to take into account. Context matters.

The bulls won without Jordan because the bulls were running a better system than the rest of the league. LeBron trans y'all apart when he leaves because he only plays one way. He's not versatile. He plays the LeBron James system. And nobody on his team knows what to do. They don't know what their role is. So when he leaves they turn to shit. Jordans teammates understood what their role on the team was. This shit so simple.

The reason Lebrons teams get worst when he leaves is the team changes. When he left the Cavs in 2010, Iigauskaus, shaq, delonte west and their coach mike brown who won coach of the year the previous season all left. Then the key guys that stayed like antwan jamison, varejao, mo williams missed a bunch of games from injuries. Similar thing when he left again in 2018, Kevin Love and JR missed almost the whole season and solid role players like jeff green and imam stumphert were gone. Basically when Lebron leaves the core of the team changes or they miss games and that leads to a poor performance from the team. The teams build their roster around lebron and when he leaves they gone too.

You make it sound like Pippen is way better defender and rebounder than Jordan. They were basically the same in terms of rebounding and defense. You can even make the case Jordan is a better rebounder and defender than Pippen. Jordan had better steals average and same average as blocks as Pippen and he was a guard while Pippen was a sf so Pippen should have had more blocks and rebounds. Then Jordan left in the middle of his prime. To me Jordan is better defender than Pippen if you factor in all this into account. And in terms of offense Pippen is no where close to Jordan as Jordan is the best offensive player in NBA history.

Yes but that is hypothetical. MJ just never developed that in his game. And it was because his other two points were just so deadly. Now could MJ be a great 3 point shooter if he wanted to, I believe he could but he never tried and never accomplished it. I believe lot of players could have been a great 3 point shooter if they put time and effort into it but they never did. He lost his first 6--lol, and many more games to Bird than he could stomach. MJ demanded FGA, even if he was cold, and he was going to get his, his way. He had 3 straight losing seasons without Pippen, but Pippen only lost 2 more games, without Michael, the year after the 3rd ring that Jordan didn't play. Seems like you could make a case that Pippen had more overall impact for that team when it comes to winning. What they don't tell you is Bird is 20th in ppg, 54th in rpg, 47th in apg, 38th in spg, and 217th in bpg, 61st in defensive rating, 30th in defensive win shares, 7th in Box+/-, and 2nd in winning percentage, ALL-TIME. That adds up to 476. The next closest guy (you want a LOW number) is 608 that I can find--and Jordan gets an 802. To measure a player's ALL-AROUND game, these are the stats that just make sense--all the measurables, no HYPE factor. See where your guy ranks.

MJ made them the best defensive team by being the best defender and making his teammates better defenders in practice

Lebron's teams did bad after he left because he didn't make his teammates better and there was no team system. The system was LeBron. The only way he can play.

React to the video where Scottie outshined MJ by Jon Arnett!

I'm getting really tired of the "MJ had a stacked team" tired old excuse When MJ went to the Bulls the team was worse than any team LBJ played on and he still made MVP He still scored over 60 points against a Celtics team with 5 hall of famers with a sorry team backing him up. MJ took it from there and built his team. He didn't jump from team to team looking for a premade team to play on. That's 2 big pluses in MJ's column, so stop trying to use it as an excuse. That got old a long time ago. MJ is currently the GOAT LBJ will never be the GOAT Someday someone will take Mike's crown, but it's not going to be LBJ Facts
