The solution for swapping between Red 3 and Red 5 is much more elegant-- the previous X-wing had four tiny 1x1 tiles with little stickers for the extra red bar and they were finicky to swap around.

I think I still prefer the old helmets. The dual-molding is nice, but it makes the helmets look too bulky.

I'm probably like the only person in the world that really likes the new X-wing helmets. I love the dual molding with the great prints. I was never a fan of the visor being printed on the heads.

Hey Jang, I'm sure it's been done before, but I would love to see an overview of all the minifig scale X-wings, including this one, where you highlight how the design has evolved and improved (or possibly even gone backwards), in both overall aesthetic and actual internal design/structure. Your last comments are spot on, it gets really annoying when grown men call lego lazy or boring for releasing similar sets every few years. New kids are born all the time. Also lego has a short shelf life so not everyone gets everything. Good job, great review as always Jang

President_Honor It’s probably the people who are involved in the selling market that complain about re releases because it “damages their after market price”. Though those sort of people are the worst. I’m glad they are continuously updating older models to allow people like myself who missed out on older versions. Plus if Lego notices that people are actually paying quite a bit of money for older ones then they are going to re release it like the falcon.

Finally! Lego did not add a little ladder or speeder to go with the set to add $10 more to the set! Also, I have been waiting years for an original trilogy X wing! Love it. The helmets are very *THICC*, but its ok. Love this set. I think it is fair $80 for this set, and I bought it, and LOVE IT

Great review Jang. I was surprised you didn't mention the tips of the laser cannons being pretty inaccurate. They really need a mod. I'm also not too sure about those grill slopes in the cockpit. I think solid ones might look better. It would have been great if they included a greebled hatch to cover that hole with the new mechanism. I'm not sure how "cohesive" that back end looks either with those white pieces hanging down, maybe a little less gray too. A shot with a previous version would have been nice. All things considered, it looks like a nice upgrade or new purchase.

I always felt like the old wing mechanism was going to break on the older models, so I'm glad they re-designed it. I have the 2012 version and Poe Dameron's, but I feel like I need this one, too. Am I crazy? I think X-Wings are my favorite ships

I changed out those short laser cannons with the ones from X-wing 9493. Looks 1,000 times better. I also changed the buckets they used for the engine with the same wheel rim they used on the end. No idea why they used those buckets from pirate sets.

I know these videos are intended to be reviews of lego block sets, but I think it'd be neat to put pics of the sets and of the actual vehicles they are supposed to portray side by side at some point in your videos. It'd be cool to see just how close the sets are to the "real" thing, so to speak, especially for Star Wars sets. I don't know if someone has already suggested that or not, but that is just my opinion. As always though, you do a great job with these review videos, and I do enjoy them.

I was on the fence with this one after seeing it back when it was revealed, though I knew I wanted an X-Wing eventually for a couple of reasons. 1. I've never had any past versions. 2. b/c I missed the Poe Damron edition (which I wasn't sold on either, I wanted the classic-ish color scheme) ...and the following Blue/Silver version. But this is even more compelling seeing all the details in uh, detail. I love the wide slot for the astromech, the new s-foil mechanism is very slick, especially the very intentional looking yoke actuator between the wings, and allows for extra greebles on the rear, which is always a good thing. The slot on top, while inaccurate, honestly doesn't even look bad due to the subdued colors. If anything, it looks as though some technicians left an access panel open in a rush to to get the fighter in the air, or any number of similar excuses haha

I've lost count on how many X-Wings Lego has made over the years! But I do remember getting the very first one, and it was very grey! The white colors of future X-Wings made it look way better in hand, so it's pretty cool, but I'd be careful when closing the S-Foils too violently, don't want to shake the whole thing apart!

I awaited this eagerly but yeh the UK price is so ridic. £90 for its size is insane. Just got the Rogue One Y Wing for £49 and that feels about right. Very dissapointed to be missing another X Wing.

Lucas Gore This isn't a recolor, this is really different than the Resistance X wings. They did tons of changes with this new X wing, so your not really right. So yeah. I think it's worth picking up here in America because it's pretty good price in my opinion.

It looks like it’s possible to flip the lever mechanism upside down to the bottom side of the ship in between the landing gear and out of sight. Then could add greebling to the top in the empty spot.

Oh yeah that could be really cool! Essentially just taking that build section and flipping it. You'd lose the landing activator (it could live on as a greebled button though). That makes me want to get this set all the more so I can try my hand at greebling! :D

I've done it in LDD, you'd have to move some stuff in the interior of the ship but you can generally keep most of the shape intact. I think what Lego SHOULD have done was make the mechanism flip to the bottom instead of the top, and have the closing mechanism be a part of the gribbling on top when the S-foils are open. When the s-foils are closed, the closing mechanism trigger actually pops up and the lever retracts inward - when you want to open the s-foils, you push the top trigger in, popping the lever on the bottom out and letting you pull on it to fully open the wings. I'd provide the link to the LDD here, but I'm not sure if I really should...

I don't understand the euro price (or the usd price actually) . Most sets have numerically the same usd and euro price, making the usd price a bit cheaper ofc. But this set has a huge price difference between US and Europe. The US price is 68.5 € when normally it would be 85.5 €!!! There is no way I'm gonna buy this from any official retailer.

the last ‘modern’ x-wing i have was from 10+ years ago that came with yoda’s hut. so i’ll definitely be picking this one up. just loving the overall shape of this one, although i do think the tips of the blasters on the wings need beefed up a tad

The pricing can be a bit funny per country. I live in the US but frequent the UK a lot for work. I usually buy the big sets in the UK. While the prices may seem to have a big difference, as a foreigner buying abroad, the VAT tax, which is included in products bought in the UK can be refunded to you. Its great to take advantage of it mainly because the whole purchase usually ends up being 60 bucks cheaper than in the US where taxes vary by county.

This is easily the best x-wing yet. I like the larger engine intakes and overall improved detailing. I wish we could get a battle damaged R2-D2 though.

I only have the 99 version and I'm definitely getting this one! It's a refreshing, streamlined and modern looking set, the S-foils mechanism is awesome as well as the cockpit and wing details. It's a pity we don't get the printed piece for the tip anymore 😔

I hope that someday Lego will decide to redesign that astromech main body piece to just have one stud in the center of the top. That way, the astromech Droid heads could rotate without having to take them off and reposition

This looks amazing! I don’t care that I have the last original trilogy Xwing, I’m getting this one for sure! ... However its not perfect I'm gonna change the thrusters so they don't have barrels and I'm gonna leave out that rod in the bottom out as well as the spring loaded shooters, those are really the main conplaints I have with this awsome set. Great review btw

Indeed why is it higher in UK and Europe than the US where it's $80 even though the dollar is weaker than both euro and sterling. It should be at most £80/€80 not higher.

I'd like it more if they stuck to one design that worked, and keep reselling that mold instead of creating new iterations every few years or so. The more they try to "update" the design, the uglier they tend to get.

I upgraded my 9400 X-wing and TIE fighter to the 75000 ones. They just look so much more movie accurate, especially the X-wing. I made a little plate with greebling for the dorsal gap that just slots in there.

Yes!! man I love this set so much, it's one of the few builds I refuse to take apart. I'll probably buy a stand for it someday tbh. I didn't mind the trench up top for that lever mechanism myself tbh! it kinda approximated the look of the strip of greebling on the top of an actual X-Wing. But I get why you'd wanna make it a little less obvious and more accurate.

I think that the thing behind the seat isn't a Fire extinguisher, it's a lego representation of the computer that luke uses to shoot on the death star.

Ordered it on Amazon, can't wait for it to come to my doorstep! I'm iffy about the cannons, but I can't replace them, so I'll leave them. I don't really care about the trash can engine outlets, it's probably more toward esthetics. Overall, I love the set, I think it's a must buy if you can get it cheap and it's easy to mod. Anyways, those are my thoughts.

I own this set and the bottom is easy to fix; just remove the 2x8 with holes and take out the 5.5 axel and cone piece. And simply add a solid 2x8 and presto! Its fixed

I laughed so hard at "distribute the Force" (even though I know it wasn't meant to be a pun). Was this new rubber band orientation the reason Luke was able to destroy the Death Star? Excellent review! I think you're one of the most intelligent LEGO reviewers on RU-vid, and your voice is very relaxing.

Love the new helmets, but the lack of chin straps bug me!! Even if they just printed them, it would be fine. Without them, the helmets seem soooo top heavy

Dang, I figured I’d never see that old revolver piece used on anything ever again. I also kinda like the new helmet design for mostly staying true to the original but also making it so you don’t always have to keep the helmets on because the visor part was just a print on the face for a while
