From my own experience Verbal abuse hurts more than the physical abuse. I just can’t tolerate either. I found myself becoming verbal abusive as a reaction. I was never the aggressor but my reaction been unacceptable too! I felt horrible everytime I reacted.

Thank you for confirming my thoughts. I was engaged for 2 years but had to end it last week. It was hard but he was dismissive and during arguments would usually “go low” or “hit below the belt” with comments. His excuse is that things got too heated. If I said that he was stressing me out, he said no he wasn’t. Oh well…it’s over…I’m done. 😊

When i moved in with my husband he always paid the rent and other bills. I did pay someof them. I think he feels as a man and he has said it he feels as a man he needs to take care or be the bread winner of our family. We had 2 children with other people and we had 1 child together. We was both stuggling financially but he still found a way to make it work. Now all of our children are grown and we are both financially good. We both worked together to make it work.

I tried walking away, and got beaten almost to death I been in the hospital and now I’m home. He’s wanted and on the run. I had to escape from him he had me locked in a house beating me for a hour 3 days ago my face is black and blue. Ladies be careful, strategically do everything when you’re planning your exit. 🙏💚💚🙏

I recently broke up with a grown a@$ boy. Who introduced me as his lady and called me his woman constantly reinforcing his undying love. The problem was his actions was the complete opposite in fact he blatantly neglected my needs trying to convince me he express his feelings differently but couldn’t explain or show me differently! So I started going out with friends making myself unavailable to him then I realized that I was infatuated with the idea of being in love and I was wasting my time with an emotionally unavailable broken man who blamed everyone for his shortcomings refusing to accept accountability for his wrongdoings. Just as you pointed out, once a woman realizes hers needs are not being met by her love interest she will create conflicts I know because that’s exactly what I did and I feel fantastic knowing he’s gone.

Wow this spoke, I made a mistake getting involved with my ex when I knew he was selfish. I had lost my job and he was having the best year of this life making over 200k and he had the audacity to ask me to split the bills. I lost it on him and told him in my place how freakin wrong it is that a man who loves a woman apparently would ask this when she’s in bad situation. I’ll walk away next time if I see that type of selfish. I’ve helped my partner before when they lost their job bc that’s what you do when you actually care about the person. I learned my lesson. Runnnn from men who are selfish like that!

Stephan, You are 100% correct. Saved me wasted time early to find my husband of 45 years. Money example - when we started out, his income was way more than mine. He took the role of the provider and the expenses were appropriately allocated. Many years later and the role was reversed with the allocation of expenses. And he adds in other areas of our home and relationship which are invaluable. He is head of the household regardless of who makes more money.

BIG YES to the first point, I was in a relationship for 2 years with a man who would always want to do 50/50, caveat? I earned £21k and he earned £85k. It was wrong to me inside but I found money a difficult issue as it was. It ended when he moved countries (and he would have dragged me with him) but I stood ground and asked him all the questions. True, deep questions. Realised how he did not truly see a future… he cared but not enough. Funnily enough he moved to get an even higher salary in the US. Never made the same mistake again and now am in a relationship with the best man.

My biggest mistake is getting into a relationship before getting to know what kind of man I am dealing with. I’ve been acting like everything okay because you get tired of expressing the same concerns and issues. We been together for almost 3 years and not one time went out on a real date just shacking up and staying home. It’s so depressing when I know deep inside I am full of life, I would love to just go to places I never been just the sense of fresh air has been a crave. I feel like I’m only dealing with the bare minimum because I know what I want out of life I know that I can be so much better as a person if I wasn’t too busy living up to another person expectation. I don’t go out because he doesn’t like it. I avoid the question because it will never happen. Right now I’m at this point where I know I got to leave. You are not alone! I felt the same way in my last relationship. All we did was watch TV, drink and sleep together on the weekends. I just wanted to be out even if it was for a walk at the mall or Marshalls lol. I felt like a caged bird, no matter what I suggested. It was also met with no enthusiasm or compromise on his behalf. What I learned is that I need to be with someone I'm more compatible with. Don't waste your time if you are not happy!

I was in a relationship with a man that asked for 50/50 on the bills. Ok i can understand that. However that didn’t translate to 50/50 on the rest of the relationship and household responsibilities. He expected me to do 100% of the cooking and cleaning. So not only did I contribute to half the financial payments but I was expected to cook for him, clean for him even take care of his pets that were his before we got together. And at the end of the day expected intimacy also. And when I tried talking to him about it and how it made me feel his excuse was that his parents were like that. but that’s not even true his mom only worked to pay to board her horses. His dad took care of all the household bills except his wife’s horses. His mom stayed home and raised the babies. That worked for them. They each had their contributions to the household. I ultimately left him.

Someone not meeting your needs is usually not a sign of a lack of seriousness but more a lack of emotional intelligence and/or maturity. Most husbands are guilty of this and it contributes heavily to the divorce rate. I would not call a man marrying you him not being serious...

I think men have to be a protector and provider. Bc then they are in a good place financially to take on a family that comes with a commitment. It's crazy for me to know all this and still was stupid NOT ANYMORE number 3&6 I can't relate to but the rest I definitely experienced some of it. I took 4 years to learn this and still fell short for the past 2 yrs. My birthday was the last straw 10/10 was it for me I'm way too smart and know better

After 11 years , 2 weeks after moving into our house i found our He was having a affair with a co worker i had suspicious the previous month. 5 months go by , I kicked him out 2xs and both times he went back to her ( at her parents house) the first time he came back on his own after a week. This time Hes been with her since At a motel and we shared our first share visit last Monday , sure enough he brought her around our kids . I had to let go , And focus on Myself and kids . Let Them be , Let him figure out His choices on his own instead if trying to cry or scream it out in front of him. I feel horrible and scared for him But He made his choice's with who he made his choices with. Now I have peace of mind , im hurt , but im okay As long as i have My kids . Now its Time to do for me and My kids future , go back to school and get on My feet and Never Let go of My independence again.

I have a pick-me friend who thinks it's cool to say that she never asks for titles, and just "goes with the flow'" with men. She says that "yall chics run men off by trying to ask for titles and having conversations about relationships." (Yes, she calls all women 'chics'- typical pick- me behavior). Then she is shocked to find them with other women who the men actually take to dinners, take on vacations, let them meet the family. Then she cries to me, claiming she doesn't know what went wrong.

I agree but I also learned not long ago that meeting the family can in fact mean nothing for some men. They bring every single girl home and the family just goes along with it. Stay away from those men too!
