I love how when Clement argues with the Eggman doll, the main menu music from Batman: Arkham City played in the background, that's the funniest background music i've heard in a while.
I actually heard the physics were so bad BECAUSE they tried to use the Sonic Advance(or was it the Sonic Rush?) engine for it. It works well in Sonic Advance because of the resolution and levels, but when you upscale it to a genesis game and shoehorn it in? That's where the horribleness comes in. So, no. I think this game was awful BECAUSE they used Dimps' engine.

Yeah, except Johnny was judging this as if this is its' own game while Clement however was judging it as a bad remaster of a previous game, exactly how the game should really be judged. Like yeah, imagine if every single gamer you can ever think of judged every single remaster like Johnny does with Sonic Genesis like for example, someone judged Assassin's Creed III Remastered as its' own game rather than a complete updated version of the original 2012 version with all its' DLC include plus Liberation as a bonus game and said that the game was the best AC game to come out of the dark age of Assassin's Creed because keep in mind, Odyssey was the big AC game during the time of the release of AC3 Remastered and it's when people were really looking down on the whole franchise because of the directions it was going. If I ever saw that kinda review for AC3 Remastered from that year, I'd be like "OK, I'm glad you like the game, but you do know that it's not really a brand new AC game, it's a remaster of a previous game and so it doesn't really count as the big savior of the franchise" like it's that kinda urky feeling Clement gets when people say that Sonic Genesis is the worst Sonic game ever when really, it's just a really bad remaster of the original Sonic 1 and so they should really judge it for it being a remaster of a previous game, not its' own thing.

Honestly, when I first saw this video, I had NOOOOOOOO idea 06 was gonna be the next game. But I was excited as all hell when Clement turned the box over. I actually bought 06 from Amazon a few days ago, and am anxious to see for myself truly how bad the game is
I personally found the game to be awful, plot included. It's not Sonic material. The gameplay sucks, the story sucks, the graphics suck. The Elise romance story certainly sucked. A lot of suckage
raiderz0mbie That game sucks for many reasons one story line wise is because sonic is doing what Mario has made his living doing. saving the princess and to make sonic save her multiple times in the same game. they question the gamers stupidity if we can tell the difference between a Nintendo storyline with a Sega Character. "apparently a lot of Sega fans actually couldn't tell the difference if they liked this game" Mario may rescue princess peach but it's ONCE every game or so on.. sonic saves Princess Elise three or more times in the same game. also it's Sega vs Nintendo..Nintendo was the powerhouse Sega was the underdog that rose to fame thanks to sonic. Sega's slogan/campaign is or was. Sega does what Nintendon't. Sega Team really screws up sometimes i see that now..

When I was 11 I remember seeing this one kid in my class who was playing this game, and I heard him say,"Damn this game sucks, I am never getting a Sonic game again."
Oh Clement, one of favorite LPers, I have been waiting long for this day to come. I remember when I first sat down with Sonic 06, my thoughts were "Wow, a sonic game, this couldn't be that bad right?" but know someone else has felt your pain too.

When Clement said that he would do it, I would have just loved it if he started playing "To make a pathetic decision" from the Eureka SeveN soundtrack. I think it would have fit PERFECTLY.

+DDFusion / John technically it's 3 hours but yeah it's still pretty big. Damn, I remember back when he was working on 06 review. I was excited to see a new part announced in my subscription list and each part were pretty lengthy. (about 30 minutes each) Man, those were the days.
The sole mention of Comix Zone was worth the horrible Sonic Genesis footage I had to endure. I like it that Clement speaks of long-forgotten-but-very-good-and-underrated games. If he ever reviews Comix Zone, my life will be complete.
Some of us accepted, "he's never gonna play it again. He said so multiple times", and respected that decision despite how much some of his noisier fans requested it. 2006 was a terrible year for Sonic: 1) a game that had so much potential but ended up being known as the one of the worst Sonic games 2) a port of a very great game that went completely wrong 3) The only decent thing from 2006 was a mediocre Sonic racing game
Sonic Riders is a decent game, but it's way too complicated and just... WHAT IS GOING ON?! Sonic 06, on the other hand.. It had great potential, but it was CRITICALLY *RUSHed* for a Holiday release, so there are an ABUNDANCE of bugs, glitches, and all that... can be found by just PLAYING the game. So, yeah. It's a pretty terrible game that promised us great potential.
My grandmom gave me this for my birthday some years ago and yeah IT'S ANNOYING AS HECK but hey beat it a few times even wth all emeralds, valure to it I guess.
Maybe reporting it could fix many of the issues but I doubt they ever well as Sonic 1 has been ported "everywhere" already, and really good? Eh....not really it can have issues but I think the emerald stages are easier, just gotta be sure you don't go the wrong way.
People call Sonic Genesis the worst Sonic game ever made... But to be fair, Sonic Genesis isn't really a Sonic game. It's a PORT of a Sonic game. Worst Sonic Port, probably, but if you're calling Sonic Genesis the worst Sonic game ever made, you're essentially calling Sonic 1 the worst Sonic game ever made. Ah-HAAAAAA! I win the Genesis vs 06 argument!! Sonic 06 is the worst Sonic game ever made, but Genesis IS the worst Sonic port out there. Can we agree on that and leave it at that?
Also, there really is no reason to get Sonic Genesis at this point. If anyone wants to get a Sonic game for the Game Boy Advance, it's going to be the Sonic Advance games, it's not going to be Sonic Genesis because everyone can get access Sonic 1. It's not like Sonic Genesis is the only way to play Sonic 1.
Not super proud to admit this was my first time playing Sonic 1. As a kid I only had Sonic 2, 3 & K on the Genesis. I had it on Mega Collection but don’t remember ever playing it on there. I never made it last Labyrinth Zone’s boss (Yes, I have since obtained Sonic 1 on the actual Genesis and have beaten it on original hardware)
I disagree with Genesis GBA not being a contender for the worst Sonic game simply because it's awful port of Sonic 1. It's true that there are better versions of Sonic 1, but that doesn't do this game any favors AT ALL, and it certainly doesn't make it any less of a crappily handled game. Not helped by the fact that Stealth (one of the co-developers of the mobile remakes of the Classics, as well as Mania) made his own port of Sonic 1 to the GBA from scratch, and screen resolution aside, it plays exactly like the original. There is no excuse for Genesis GBA being released the way it was. Say what you want about 06. It is its own original piece of shit, but at least it had some things that were appealing or decent enough to enjoy. I can say the same for Shadow the Hedgehog, the Storybook games, Lost World, Boom, and Forces. Genesis GBA has absolutely nothing going for it that any other version delivered on a better scale. It just exists. And combined with the screen crunch, wonky physics, horrendous collision detection, abysmal framerate, and terrible sound mixing, Sonic Genesis GBA can rightfully so be considered the worst Sonic game. And, no, the fact it's a port doesn't make me think otherwise.
Also, at the time, it WAS the first handheld port of Sonic 1, and the first handheld port to boast a save feature. Not as bad as 06? Did 06 have false advertising? Genesis did. It showed screenshots on the back of its case of the original Genesis game. No zoomed in screen, nothing awful that's in the actual game. This game not only showed incompetence, it showed that SEGA was willing to lie to its consumers. I've seen your 06 review, and it's good, but it still hasn't convinced me that 06 is on the same level as Genesis. And yes, I've played it. It's an incompetent remake of Sonic Adventure, nothing more. See, I can make a statement not relating to quality but instead relating to its place in the franchise, too. I like your vids, but this was pretty bad.

ckuroskimosu Final games differ from the demo version? When has that ever happened? I guess that's automatically false advertising. Oh, wait, what I said rarely ever happens while early demos being different from the final product happens all the time. It may have been the full $60 when it came out, but I recall 06's price falling fast. The only ads that could be considered false were from early versions of the game at E3. Genesis had lying pictures on the back of the very box.
