The worst part about the Sonia flub was that the head wasn't even from official artwork, it was actually taken from some fanart someone made on Deviantart. I think Sega did apologize to the artist around the same time they patched it out of the HD versions though.
+LOL Icon But then there's also the problem of a big company taking your art without your permission and without any compensation. If they'd asked the artist beforehand, then I'd agree, pretty cool, but as it was, that was kinda a bad move on their part.
About the Sonia picture, that was actually made by a fan on Deviantart and Sega didn't notice that until after the game's release. After that, Sega apologized to the creator and patched it on the 360/ps3. The Wii, however, was left in because, like you said, there's no easy way to patch it.
Here's a fun fact: During development, Mario was considered as a Wii-exclusive addition, but Sega decided against it so as not to cause cross-contamination with its Mario and Sonic series. This is what makes me think we'll never get a true Mario and Sonic crossover.
I don't believe that mario being a racing game with sonic would of caused cross-contamination with the Mario and Sonic olympics. If anything I think they didn't want to bother because nintendo being the company with a stick up it's ass would of said no anyway. Game companies don't think logically like most gamers do.
Also, in this game, Banjo and Kazooie's design is based on Nuts & Bolts while in Smash, their appearance is the HD version of their N64 design. I don't care if the former makes fans upset because they can say what they will about Nuts & Bolts (Though I still find it ridiculous that they blame Microsoft for why Nuts & Bolts exist when that entire game was actually thought up by Rare themselves and Microsoft had no involvement with it other than releasing it as it was stated in one of the Rare Replay behind the scenes videos), it's still cool to have them in a game with Sonic twice.
+PurpleWind64 Yeah, Wii, 7, and 8 SHOULD'VE had Mission mode, but they got a little bit lazy or something. Especially with 8, don't get me wrong, it's a extremely gorgeous and fun game, and it done DLC right, but throwing Battle mode maps out the window, terrible item system (getting Stars as high as 2nd and single banana's and shells as low as 12), How damn dominant Heavyweights were, and the roster wasn't all up to snuff with all those babies and koopalings clogging up space plus all the Mario and Peach clones.
PurpleWind64 Oh no, I never played Frantic mode, I have personally gotten something as powerful as a Star in second online, when I'm directly right behind the person in 1st no less.
Finally.. you've caught up with Sonic games in the 2010s Clements lol. Now THIS was the game that started the Sonic Renaiissance. Wish I didn't skip out on this game though.. I've only played Racing Transformed. Anyway, can't wait to see you return to 2D Sonic again with Sonic 4
+ExoParadigmGamer hey exo i did not know that you watched clement so alot of people have been wondering since whren you started watching clement lol zero pun
It's funny that whenever there's a big Sega game where all the characters are together, a certain Kazuma Kiryu is always absent. Though that might be because he's from an M rated game and has no English voice actor. Still, it'd be funny to see a big buff Yakuza guy in a small go-kart yelling stuff in Japanese at the other racers.
+Homestar20845 If theirs ever a 3rd game, I'm sure kazuma and/or Majima will be playable, as the Yakuza series is currently too popular of a series now, especially in Japan, and rising in theWest. Also better be Valkyria Chronicles representation as well as Puyo Puyo, Sakura Wars, Power Drift, and others. Ah well, at least their are other SEGA characters in the Project X Zone games.
***** Puyo Puyo as well. It's extremely weird as both series are Sonic Team made. Valkyria Chronicles, being how popular the series is shouldn't be excluded either.
DMD00 Phantasy Star wasn't created by Sonic Team, but rather the Phantasy Star Online series was. THERE ARE TOO MANY SERIES NEEDED IN THESE GAMES, MAN.
I'm not too shocked to see the 360 version of the game mention a Nintendo game, cause Microsoft and Nintendo seem to have good relations. Microsoft even allowed a Mechassault title to be released on the DS, so there is a Nintendo game out there with Microsoft as part of the splash screens.
the thing is, Microsoft doesn't really do the whole portable console thing, so they're usually fine with their devs making games for whatever. Case in point: Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge. released after the Rare buyout.
The deal with Sonia's card wasn't that it was a character from Sonic Underground. It was because they didn't properly license the image from the artist. Someone who made that graphic just pulled it from google images.
Sonic R was the best IDEA for a Sonic racing game IMO because most characters got to travel on foot, unfortunately wasn't done very well. All-Stars is good though!
+AllHailShadow117 Ikr? I was expecting Sonic to go Super like he did in this one, but he used some kind of super powered rings or something. Complete turn off.
+The Pyromancer Knight (RevZ) All of the all stars moves had been downgraded to melee/boost/shooting copy's which aren't even different. Seriously all of the all stars moves in Transformed are all the same except with a different theme.
I love this game so much! I remember I have played it over 200 hours on my granpa's XBOX and it's awesome! Always played with Shadow because he was badass XD I think this is way better than Transformed.
About the Sega Miles system. It's very similar to Ryo/SP in the Naruto Storm Series. You constantly get points, and with those points, you unlock stuff. You can even do special stuff like winning with the first hit to get more points. You also get points if you lose. Also, you can just play the story if you don't feel like grinding for the points.(Which is a good idea, as you'll be unlocking characters while getting points)
You said everything I wanted to say about this game. In mario kart I had a problem with the items stopping you when you get hit but in this game I noticed that you get hit but you kept moving, thx for metioning that
Fun Fact: Ulala gets around, and oooh does she ever. Ever since the Sega All Stars games, she's been in crossover after crossover.. Essentially making her sega's go-to reporter for future crossovers!
This game kicks ass, I fucking love this game, I spent over 100 hours on this game alone, which adds to my sonic franchise hours killed total to 100000, yep, I am a dedicated sonic dude.
I'm just super glad they included Opa-Opa in this game, even if I am apparently the only person who knows what Fantasy Zone is. Haven't played this game (yet), but I hope they have some of that game's sweet tunes in it or the sequel.
It really annoys me how Sega has so many dead franchises yet still uses them in these party games like we're supposed to know them.It would've also been cooler to let Sonia in the game just to give a nod to the people who watched the show
Even to this day, I do like the way Sonic R looks. It is colorful and I do like some of the concepts they had regarding level design for Sonic games in 3D. I'm not saying it had good level design, but I love the ideas it had on separating pathways and how you can almost instantly switch pathways no matter where you are on the track, instead of just being a few forks in the road where you are stuck on a certain pathway between these forks
I love Sonic Riders and Zero Gravity. I think that's mostly because I played it a ton when I was younger. I think it's genius once you figure out how to play and practice a little. I'm glad you agree.
I was legit peeved when I found out that Akira and Jacky weren't in the sequel. Like c'mon, I love their all-star move!... and I like Virtua Fighter a lot so yeah. Also mad how the PS3 got nothing. I'd love to have both Jak and Sweet Tooth! Or at least have your own personal sackboy like avatars and miis. Still a good game tho.
Can't wait for the All Star Racing Transformed review. When this game came out I got the 360 version first as it was going to have the most characters to play as. Now I'm thinking of getting the Wii version or the PS3 version as my 360 RRODed on me years ago (eventually I'll get a new 360).
Sonic Underground!? I love that shit so much, the theme song is engraved into my brain. I played the Demo of this game and I enjoyed it a lot! I might end up getting it one day. Small note - My Mother's friend knows a guy who works at Sumo Digital and he was talking about this game before I'd even heard that this game was being made, sadly I wasn't too into Sonic at the time though.
My favorite Kart Racer, of all time! I love this game so much! My ONLY big complaint is the lack of expansion on it in terms of DLC. All we got was Metal Sonic, and while I like him, I feel like we should have received more love in terms of additional content. There re PLENTY of SEGA mascots we could have received! Vectorman, Blaze Fielding from Streets of Rage, Tyris Flare from Golden Axe, Ristar, NiGHTS, Alicia Melchiott from Valkyria Chronicles. Granted, most of who I mentioned came in on the sequel game, but I still think this was so much better than Transformed. But, I'll wait till Clement talks about that game to give my thoughts. :3 Anyway, this was amazing and I still love this game! Nice video, Clement!
I'm sure everyone knows already, but this game is also on PC on both Steam and retail, various mobile phones, and japanese arcades (I think?). The PC version lacks the online multiplayer and doesn't have any exclusive characters to speak of, but I've heard that you can hack in the characters from the other versions into mission mode somehow. The Android/iOS version is a very watered down version of the game with the same physics as the DS version, but it's still pretty fun. I haven't played this supposed arcade version or the j2me phone version, though.
I loved this game a lot and I really liked the sega miles system. It's kind of sad that the sequel seemed to flub up some things. It really sucks cuz I like some of the additions they made to the roster there
***** It means to botch or bungle something as a verb and a thing badly or clumsily done or a blunder as a noun. Basically it's a different way to say they messed some stuff up. It's not a dirty word at all from what Im aware
+UnbreakableJames Yeah, I don't know if I suck at Transformed or if there was a difficulty spike, but I didn't unlock shit in it. I failed pretty much all of the challenges and just gave up after a while. Went right back to the first one.
Nel_Annette The AI is freaking brutal in Transformed even early in the campaign. I often find that if I dont pull ahead immediately and play an almost perfect race it's basically a sure loss. And the game expects you to win almost everything on hard or S class difficulty to get all the racers. Which really stinks because AGES is awesome and turns into a dreamcast controller in boat form but is excruciatingly difficult to get. Iirc the difficulty spike was intentional by Sumo who wanted the game to be more difficult that time around...which they succeeded in the worst way. I dont blame you for going back to the first one. Plus while a tank is cool I like Shadows motorcycle better
Hey how do you do that thing in your videos with your commentary when your showing a cutscene and your commentary sort of blacks out and your gameplay audio gets louder and after i reverts back to normal if someone knows how he does it please explain it to me!
