LG OLED CX 4K 120Hz G-sync Flickering Issue using HDMI 2.1
This issue is happening on LG OLED CX when using HDMI 2.1 with Nvidia RTX 3080, RTX 3090 as both cards are capable of HDMI 2.1 and gsync 4K at 120hz.
LG TV models with Firmware Update 03.10.20 are having these flickering issues.
I was able to download new firmware update for my LG OLED CX 48" from LG South Korea website , I took this risk because South Korean and US models share same hardware specifications. You can do this at your own responsibility or wait for the LG US to provide the firmware update.
NOTE (UPDATE): This problem is mainly with 48" model where firmware update 03.11.25 is not available for US 48 inch Model. LG has released software update for CX 55" and 65" models in USA. Please download from link below or update your TV Software going to update section.

I just got a 3080. Tried hooking up and won’t start games. So frustrating. This issues is almost 2 months old and no certified fix. I might do the SK firmware as I don’t wanna wait around for a fix. I can’t even play at 1440p 120 with it for some reason. My c9 doesn’t play well with the new card at all. Had to put my 2070 super back in and settle for 2k instead of 4k. Really feeling remorse...

Elevated blacks will remain there since it is oled. There are calibrations that you can do to overcome any of the picture setting issues. I am gaming on Nvidia RTX 3080 with CX 48 inch model and I play competitive games like Warzone and trust me it has been amazing. I will give you one suggestion though, if you are going to use it for xbox and PS5 then go with QLED equivalent models. I have Samsung Q800T / Q850T and it will be good for gaming with VRR.

I just bought the LG CX 55” and it only has Free Sync even though reviews, website and THE BOX says G-Sync. I have logged a ticket with LG and they did respond asking for more information. I hope there will be a software update. I’m prepared to acknowledge that I didn’t look at the right menu or perhaps G-Sync is auto detected. I’m using the GTX1080 and have ordered the RTX3080. Actually, if you didn't know, RTX 2000 series can do 4k@120Hz 4:2:0 with VRR, on HDMI 2.0b. Nanocell TV's also had problems with flickering and pixelated colored bands. Try to use Console Mode and not PC, and see if it still does these problems. im having a similar problem on the 8k q800T Samsung TV only when i use the HDMI 2.1 Port with my Nvidia Rtx 3090. Whenever I enable Gsync on the HDMI 2.1 port, the screen will simply freeze no matter the resolution that i choose (2k, 1440p, 4k). This seems to be a problem from nvidia not timely updating their drivers to run with HDMI 2.1 ports on gsync (since nvidia use to only allow gsync over the display Port and just recently began unlocking restrictions that existed with HDMI ports and gsync. I've seen other videos discussing this same issue on LG's as well as Samsungs. Hopefully Nvidia will speed up its process for coming up with the needed drivers so gsync can work properly over hdmi 2.1

I just purchased the B2 65 series and a certified 120 hz 4k / 60hz 8k HDMI cable and I am having the slow flicker as well when attempting to set on my PC. I am also having the same slow flicker when attempting HDR on 60hz 4k. My TV mfgr date is 10-22 and I went thru a software update automatically when I connected to the internet so I can't imagine the firmware / software is outdated. I am running on windows 11 with and EVGA FTW 3080 10gb GPU / Ryzn 5600x CPU/ 32 gb 3200 cl 16 Corsair Pro mem / EVGA 850 gold PSU. Super frustrated. The main selling feature to upgrade from my 4k LCD was to increase the refresh from 60 to 120hz and of course the deep blacks and HDR dolby vision. So far I am less than impressed. Looks like hours of research and trouble shooting to see I can sort things out. First thing I tried was GSync and that just starting spazzing my panel to rapid flicker then it just dropped the signal and had to restart the panel and disable GSync. By the ware I have downloaded the latest NVidia drivers for my card as well. I am going to try a different certified cable as my first next step. Good luck with your display. Happy Holidays!

2.1 hdmi cable
@kezman82a
@kezman82a 2 года назад
@R J well, without 2.1 it don’t work. At least with 2.1 it SHOULD work. But if it doesn’t its something else wrong. The cable can be bad quality. Too long cable makes it also worse. I have the exact same setup. One cx 65 and one b1 65. Also have had the cx 48. And rtx 3090. Got some problems with the b1. It some times get signal loss from the hdmi to rtx 3090. Never signal loss with PS4.

I love OLED and AMOLED but I don't like to use them and in fact I'd rather have a full g-sync monitor
@MyGadgetsWorld
@MyGadgetsWorld 3 года назад
Same here. I prefer a Gsync Capable monitor over a gsync compatible but TV have come far almost reasonable for PC gaming. Future is good for TV gaming

Using the same cable after update and working fine. It was. It was not the cable. I always check cables first. This is the same cable i used for 8K test on my Samsung 8K TV.

It could be solved in the new 2021 models. They stated its a hardware problem (Panels only natively support 120Hz) in the 2019 and 2020 models that can't be fixed.

PS5 won't have VRR out of the box so you don't need to worry. Sony once again misleading and shafting customers. The latest X900H firmware update has pretty much made plenty of the TV's useless, now the PS5 news? Not sure what's going on with them, but it's an embarrassing shame.
