My partner and I had this happen to us when we were ON A DATE. This girl was a huge fan of my bf and spotted us when we were out walking around a shopping center. She proceeded to silently follow us for HOURS. We were both too nice to actually tell her to leave us alone, so we just kept trying to sneak away. Eventually tho, he told her that we were on a date and just wanted to be alone, and she just started crying! Neither of us knew what to do at that moment cause, what DO you do when someone just breaks down and starts bawling their eyes out because you don't want to hang out with them?! Eventually, she did calm down and left, but it was one of the most awkward situations I have ever been in;;

I think most of those kinds of people have mind problems and don't have a sense of good social behavior (socially awkward and sensitive) so they don't handle rejection properly. You guys are fine, although it's unfortunate that she got upset, it's unavoidable for her. It's just something she has to deal with herself

That family is really entitled. No matter what a person is wearing they don't own it to anyone to take photos or entertain them. I'm glad the staff got involved. I can agree that the girls didn't intentionally mean any harm, but some part of me feels like they were intentionally not picking up on your ques, unless that really isn't their forte, but when you told them it wasn't a meet up and you were there for your friend it made it obvious that you weren't their for their company. BTW your make up is so beautiful, It really ties everything so wonderfully.

I keep trying to figure out what the two girls wanted? Why did they do that? What were they thinking? What did they say to each other at the end of the day? Were they proud of themselves for getting to spend the day with THE Lovely Lor? Did they really just think they could turn it into a meetup and were confused as to why you kept saying goodbye to them and had no idea they were overstepping boundaries? How much of their actions were due to misunderstandings and how much was intentional? I just can't wrap my head around this story, so much doesn't make sense. And furthermore, what will they think of this video? Will they realize their mistakes and never do it again or be proud that Lovely Lor made a video about them? All I can say is, Lor, thank you for making videos like this to educate outsiders on their behaviour toward lolitas and other entertainers. Your hard work is greatly appreciated and greatly helpful to many people.

I find a lot of fans do that to try and get you to be friends with them, in turn, hoping to gain fame for themselves, or getting them recognized by other fans. It's never really about wanting to be real friends anymore, just who can help you become more famous and build your own following. I personally never approach people that I follow, unless we've had legit conversations or interactions online, partially cause I don't want to inconvenience them, but also partially because I'm super awkward.

resurrecting this thread over a year later, but par asocial relationships are a thing and they are really intense. They likely thought they were her friend already, and just couldn't imagine that what they were doing was overstepping. When my sister was young she had a few interactions with a local DJ for the radio station we liked and ended up in the ambassador program that Linkin Park had. She met the DJ in person and when he was leaving asked where he was parked so she could walk him to his car (she was like maybe 14 at the time) and he said to her "I'm not going to tell you" in a tone that was serious but also kind of lighthearted since he knew she didn't mean to be creepy. People form weird one sided attachments sometimes.

Sorry to hear this happened. My friend and I once had a strange drugged man starting to follow us. He walked when we walked, and stopped when we stopped. I realized what was happening, grabbed the nearest sharp object turned around and confronted the man loudly and angrily told him to walk away. It worked. Sometimes you have to get tough with people to keep the boundaries. Be safe!

The story of the girls who followed you for so long... argh. That hurts. I know so many people especially lolitas who are too shy and kind to assert themselves. If I was in your group of friends at that time I would've been assertive for you guys ;^; In a very polite way of course! Every group needs someone like that!! I'm good at asserting myself and remaining civil, I used to be way too shy to assert myself or my boundaries and I got stepped on a lot and let myself go deep into some very uncomfortable situations so ;^; that story hurt so much lol

How to ask someone for a picture "Excuse me, can I please take a picture?" or "Hi your outfit is really cool/beautiful/interesting. Would it be ok if I took a picture of you?" or worded in similarly friendly and nice ways. It's really not hard. I've done it hundreds of times during conventions and no it's doesn't hurt to be a decent human and also doesn't kill you.

That first story is pretty similar to what happened to a friend of mine. She was having a tea party when some people suddenly barged in. They were yelling so much and she has some pretty bad social anxiety. One of said people grabbed her shoulder because she was 'ignoring' his request for a photo (which he didn't politely ask for) and she just snapped and burst into tears. It's horrible to hear that happened to you as well.

I used to wear more lolita attire, but the weirdos had a way of finding me. I was wearing a decorative headband with a tiny stringed instrument attached and this random dude in a Dunkin Donuts tried to vehemently debate that it was a cello. He became very unfriendly and condescending and I'm just like, dude, it's not even a real instrument. Chill.

I've actually seen some celebs but I've always recognised that me invading their daily lives is uncomfortable for them. Prime example was seeing Tom Hiddleston on the tube when I visited London - he was just an average guy taking the tube so of course I left him alone!

Part 1 was definitely an Entitled Parents/Entitled People situation. Part 2 I had to stop watching/listening to half way cause OMG. Sometimes it's ok to be a little rude. Those two girls should have been told as soon as they started following Lor that interaction time has stopped and now they're being creepy. Hell, when they invited themselves to the restaurant, the host should have been told no, they're not with us and they've been following us for at least an hour. Also I feel that social media has conditioned us to share everything or sometimes you just dont think "should I really share this?" because you dont think someone will take that information and misuse it as it could be something really innocent. I've now had to consciously think over stuff like "should I share this? do people need to know about it" because at the end people dont need to know xyz. TL;DR: Dont overshare/livetweet your biz and dont be afraid to tell folks off if they passed the line.

It's important to remember that saying "no" is not a failure to be nice or polite. There were so many instances in the second story where simply flat out saying "No" could have resolved the issue. "No, they're not with us. We want our own table." "No, you can't take an Uber with us." "No, we're not going to the store with you." Period. "No" is a complete sentence. I am sorry that these creepy girls in the second story even put you in the position to have to deal with them. There would be no issue if they'd had a single atom of tact in their bodies. But unfortunately, some people just don't know how to act, and when you tolerate those peoples' shitty behavior because you're too worried about being "nice," you end up not being very nice to yourself. Politely but firmly and clearly saying "no" isn't even mean in the first place, so you're also being mean to yourself for nothing. I know it's hard to be assertive, but please try. It'll save you this kind of annoyance in the future.

You would be shocked how often are situations like first one in my country... I live in east Europe and most people here are well refusing to accept stuff that is different either it's even slightly different way of dressing up, skin color or sexuality. I really want to be lifestyle lolita but in my country it's just impossible because i can in worst scenario get even beaten by "defenders of patriotic values", i dress up only at meet ups or family events, everyday i wear more casual lolita and i'm planning to move out to Netherlands very soon to finally be free to wear what i want to. I'm kinda... happy(???) that situation you had to deal with was so one of the kind that you put it in the video and i hope lolitas in your country have easier live than in mine, i have to deal with similar situations every time i go somewhere in full sweet lolita, one time it even ended up with McDonald stuff kicking out whole family out of their restaurant because they were bothering me and my tried after convention friends. I guess this is why community here is so small.

The first story reminds me of when I was at my comm’s annual tea party, a bunch of us were by the window to get good photo lighting and some of us were just chatting too. And these Karens were outside pointing at the door and mouthing that they wanted us to unlock it for them to take pictures! XD there was literally a sign on the door that said the place was closed for a private event! XD we all just laughed and ignored them and they went away thankfully! X3

The second story. If I were in this position, I would immediately get away from them after they admitted the hour drive thing. I think the older I get the less patience I have for bullshit-ery Maybe that’s why creepy men like to go after young women. I was a lot nicer and more polite at 19 then I am at 24 😂 Although I know this is a weird situation, these were fans and things could get bad. For example they could say they met you and were mean or something.

Give "The Gift of Fear" by Gavin DeBecker a read. What you went through shares a lot in common with stalkers. Because you never said "no, leave us alone," your actions just encouraged them to continue hanging around. "I don't think the Uber will be big enough for all of us" isn't telling them, "no, you can't come." It's telling them, "If we can get a large Uber, you will be able to join us." It's important to speak up, say "no", and stick to it without added conditions, because when you do that, it's no longer "no", it's a negotiation, and that gives them a way to make your "no" a "yes." No means no. Go away means go away. There's no need to explain or justify it. You can be polite when doing so, until it is time not to be, but there is nothing rude about telling someone "I'm glad you're a fan, but I'm out today with my friends, and I would like to be left alone."

I’m totally fine engaging with children while in Lolita in public, usually this interaction involves a parent supporting the child because the child is too shy to say anything. It usually is an interaction that takes 3 minutes tops. However, what happened to you in the first story is absolutely horrifying. I probably would’ve assaulted them all with a tea sandwich.

Idk if anyone noticed because no one is talking about it down here. At 1:00 in the video there's a line of binary code at the bottom of the frame. It translates to "February 01" There's another one at 6:38 that says "May 2015" At 14:30 there's a line of text that says "have you found the review yet?" In rot13 cipher Lor is sending us on a scavenger hunt. Oof

I love lolita but I left the community once before because of the terrible judgement and negativity from other lolitas that legit act like they have a stick up their ass. I'm back into Lolita now but don't plan on accociating with alot of the community cause they are terriblly opinionated and snobby if your not exactly like them. But the public is just as bad, I just want to wear my beautiful dresses and love myself in it but instead I get comments about it not being Halloween and I'm just looking for attention, etc.. it's so annoying but I can't hold back wearing my dresses anymore cause I love them to much for others to stop me

This happens to me all the time, because I deal with the public a lot. I struggle to say "no" or "let me catch my breath", because I'm trying to remain polite. They want your complete attention immediately.
