my very unfortunate lolita confession is that i never washed my first lolita dress ☠️ i was very young and very nervous about messing it up and i ended up just reselling it before i ever washed it 😭
The main Belladonna stock photo dressform that they used for years is missing a piece and they have it taped and it constantly goes crooked when I photograph things for them. I feel that struggle in my bones.
As someone who has mental health issues(diagnosed depression and undiagnosed BPD) and who wears Jirai, it’s highly offensive to call it “Girly Kei” as it’s not okay to change the name of the fashion that wasn’t started by westerners. Jirai Kei has helped me with expressing my mental health issues and with coping. It’s a fashion, most of the lifestyle is the lifestyle is separate from the fashion.
I tried that...with much less success. medieval reenactment...which didn't match well with my short cropped hair....so...we did a long, grey hairstyle with braids. Well....learning how to wear one is part of the skill, but mine looked more like roadkill.
Oh, this is a style I would love to try sometime! I'm goth, but I don't have a lot of more feminine stuff for when that mood hits me. I love lolita as well, but have been, honestly, a little too overwhelmed to even try. Jirai kei, however, is somewhere in between, I feel like, and looks like a style I'd be very comfortable in. Also, reminds me a bit of some of the outfits from Princess Ai, which teenage me absolutely loved
Thanks for all the info! I'm trying to decide if I should get a Uni now or wait for the Angel/Monster ones...is there a difference between the current Unis vs the Angel/Monster? Or is it just the color of the shells?
I love the color combo and you did a great job on the bubble braid. It would look great with ringlets on the bottom, if you want to do that put the hair in curlers and dip in boiling water and it will curl.
I saw one the other day in a video from fluffy Kawaii Joe and I commented on how convenient it would be for going to the bathroom especially when you have to figure out where are you going to put your cane and how much material you would have to hold up and with this being like that you can just swirl it around lift up in the front and you're all set to go to the bathroom without worrying about dirtying your petticoat
I actually have one of those stupid Mr Yan body pillows from back in the day lol I lost track of it when I moved and haven't had time to dress in lolita for a long time, but I'm sure he will jumpscare me one day when I open a box or bag!
I've seen people on social media wear jirai kei kinda outfits and call the style ryosangata. Is that the same style? What is the difference (if there is any at all)?
