So sorry you lost a jar! But I really want to say thank you for keeping it real and showing what happened. I have not had a jar to break, but I only have about 350 jars under my belt so far this year. I have heard that this can happen so when I hear a loud pop in my canner, I always say a little prayer, lol. Thanks for sharing, your juice looks berrylicious!!

My mother bought a Mehu-Maja (the original name), back in the '70's. Every woman in the family has one. One of my prized possessions. There's no fruit juice dripping out of cheesecloth in MY kitchen! Homemade grape juice with some seltzer water and a little simple syrup - homemade grape soda that is really healthy!! My favorite summer drink. Sometimes, you just have to have something fizzy on a hot day, when all other drinks leave you wanting that certain sparkle.

Frozen fruit actually gives you more juice in this steamer than fresh. The freezing process breaks the cell wall structures of the fruit so when you thaw/steam it, the juices flow much easier with less waste👍🏻

The SECOND you said the hose was leaking, I knew you weren’t using the very middle of the clamp. I recently purchased that model and the same thing happens to me. I made SO MUCH grape juice this past weekend using my juicer. Today I used the leftover mash, which still tastes good, to make grape butter with cloves, nutmeg, and cinnamon. It’s not pretty but it’s absolutely delicious. Also, I picked up a trick on another YT channel you might like. I put glass marbles in the bottom pan. As long as I can hear them, I know I have plenty of water. When they start to quiet down, I know it is time to add water. I just put them in my utensil basket in the dishwasher to wash them so I know they aren’t bringing any germs to the party.

Pausing the video to comment that I've never added sugar to the 'bundt pan'. I collect my juice in a large stock pot and then normally add water because my juice always comes out double strength. So I'll add water and sweetener and keep adjusting as needed to the whole batch. One nice thing about being able to steam juice for you is that you can keep some juice separate and use whatever sugar substitute you like and then later can add unflavored gelatin powder and make your own bariatric-safe and nutritious gelatin for your post-op days. No artificial cr*p in it! Unfortunately my clamp broke so I have a plastic woodworking clamp...looks so classy! lol How sad that the jar broke and you lost that beautiful juice.

My juicer leaks too so what I do is this... turn your fruit basket so that the handle is lined up with the tubing. Clamp the tubing close to the end, and use the handle on the clamp to rest on the handle of the fruit basket, that way the tubing stays upright so no leaks. Hope this makes sense and helps. Love your videos!!

When the juice starts flowing, collect about a cup of two in your jar and then pour it back into the fruit bin. You will have then sterilized the hose with the HOT juice and don’t have to worry about any problems not getting the hose super clean.

OH - speaking of APPLES! Holy applesauce Batman. Put that juiced apple pulp in the Foley food mill and it's the thickest applesauce ever. Use the juice for very apple-y jelly. Last year, I made applesauce with 1) cinnamon candies melted in, and 2) a brown sugar cinnamon, and 3) put just lemon rind in one batch. Surprisingly, the lemon was my favorite. ;)

Thank you for the mess! Oops! Your video I mean, ... I canned 15 pints of pork today and the first bottle I washed and inspected was flawed. Not enough to feel it with my finger on the rim, (it's bad when you "see" better with your finger than your eyes eh?) But I could see a small crack right under the rim of the jar. Reject! Found another with a little chip out of the rim and it didn't seem to cross the rim of the jar but I set it aside anyway. I'm glad to report no failures. The pints are all washed now and waiting their spot on the new HD metal shelf I must assemble tomorrow. I'm doing a reorganising as well. OK, enough of my drivel,... Have a great one.

I make a lot of grape juice. Always take the stems off. Adding 1/4 cup of sugar on top of your grapes will help your grapes pop. Grapes are sweet, you really don’t need anymore sugar. Add your water when your ready to drink the juice. I drink as is … no water needed. Doesn’t get any better. Instead of drinking 8 oz glass we drink only 4 oz. Steam canning raspberry juice is like drinking liquid gold. Add a little more sugar to taste but no water. Add water if you want to dilute your juice.

@@braeutchen41 Thank you. I pressure canned it. That was the only jar that I lifted out of the canner that had liquid boiling out of the lid and ring. My thought was all the fat probably built up under the lid during the sealing process. @@rockymountainhomesteadangela your jar may have been a littke too full when u put it in the canner.(please forgive me if I'm telling u things u already know)..... if your jar is too full, yes, fat WILL pump out of the can lifting the lid and leaving a thin layer of fat on the rim of ur jar. THEN when the lid reseats itself, The thin layer of grease on the rim prevents the seal..... That's why the ones that are teaching usually show u on screen...."and now I'm wiping the rim of each jar with white vinegar on this clean dishtowel"...... I’ve made apple juice by boiling apple peels and cores in water. Water turned into apple juice. I then used that juice to make apple jelly. I’m sure you could do the same with other fruit. Would just require a really good strainer.

Hi there can you tell me what to do. I don't know if my jam I canned are ok to eat. They fell over while canning. I don't know what happened. Never happened before. They also leaked, but they are all sealed.

If you were water bath canning, they probably fell over because they were getting jostled around by the boiling water. A solution that may help is to use jars of hot/boiling water to take up the extra space in the pot so that the jars of jam (or whatever) are less likely to fall over.

I stole this suggestion from another channel, but a bit of juice makes a really nice way to flavor "boring water" into something that you'd actually want to drink :)

When you add the sugar to the "bundt pan", how does it regulate getting equal amounts of sugar into each jar? Seems to me that the first couple of jars would have an abundance of sugar and remaining jars would not have enough. Just curious.

Theoretically it is enough for the 4 quarts in the well

I don’t think I understand why they use a clamp and not just put a tap on the end of the tube? It seems a very clunky way of doing it.
