Drove up to my brother's shop to fix the coolant. I wanted to see if I'm making more power, so had another dyno day for the boosted Miata.

Thanks - it's only clean because I've pulled the motor so many times - it gets a really good cleaning every time.

Awesome! Thats a great turbo and answered my question on why the power/torque numbers were a bit farther apart. I have a GT2560R and they stayed about the same, 232/232 =P

I was closer last time, around 220lbft / 225hp

Thats pretty close. Theres always so many variables anyways it could be that different on the same dyno different day

hey, do you have the stock bottom end/pistons with the high compression ratio that came from the vvt engine? i thought that was bad for boosting

Did before, then blew up motor - actually it was a high compression motor with stock rods. This engine is a new build with forged internals, 9:1 compression.

Have you dyno a Virtual Dyno before ? It would be cool to see how close you are. First of course get an exact weight of your car.

Did you manage to street tune the car to 230 horse power? I'm about to invest in a FMII with megasquirt but in my country it's hard to find a dyno who is willing to use megasquirt so I maybe have to street tune it myself.

The problem is, you really don't know what your power level is because you can't measure with a dyno. In that case, you want to tune to a safe boost level.

Lol... Dynapack just chillin there... not generating any money... Wish I could find a place that would let me rent their dyno from them to tune my own stuff.

seth alton I hear you, although the next day he tuned 3 cars. dynapacks are a bit of a pain to set up too, with the hubs and all that.

The good thing about that extra effort is a lot more consistent results, and you don't have the chance of a strap down slipping or snapping.

seth alton yep, no wheel spin too. it's the most accurate in terms of putting power down.
