Hear Matthew Mercer tell the story of how he got the role of Vincent Valentine in our Inside Final Fantasy VII Rebirth video series. Check out the full video here: • Voicing Icons - Inside...
@@Wezt334 I still think Crispin Freeman should've gotten it, a more perfect roll couldn't have existed for him. As it is it just sounds like Mercer is trying his best impression of him anyway.
@@sidcomegys4154 Instead of voicing some random background NPCs, they gave him one of the most important characters in the game - a character that Matt additionally likes, in a Series that he's a massive fan of... This is literally a much better deal, than what he was originally going to do - and they did that specifically because everyone who follows and watches Matthew Mercer knows, that he loves stuff like this...
Matt Mercer is absolutely living the dream of a 90s nerd right now. He has famous and well loved company with his friends which revolves around them playing D&D together and has voiced Ganondorf, Minsc and Vincent Valentine. Let us take a moment to appreciate that one of our own made that happen for himself. Insignificant as it may be in the context of so many things going on in the world, Matt Mercer and the Critical role cast as whole are a triumph of good natured people putting their passion into what they do and even if only in a small way, so many of us are just a little better off for it
"Hey teenage Matt, you'll get to be a professional DM, but you'll 'have' to voice act in some of your favourite content," would be one heck of a message to send to your past self.
Matt and Toby Fox are setting new standards for life goals among nerds and just seeing them live their lives to their fullest makes me happy to be able to take part in it, even if just to some peripheral degree.
John Mulanely did an interview where he said he actually thought he was gonna be killed when he went in for his audition as spider pig. They didn't tell him anything about the movie or role and told him not to tell anyone
Yes, an excellent idea to reveal at the last moment that someone is voicing a major character. Who needs rehearsal, or time to consider what their performance will be? Actually, FF has such garbage dialogue and poorly conceived characterisation that it doesn't really matter
Of course bud, who the hell wouldn’t be stoked AF to find out you’re voicing one of the coolest main characters in not just the series but the franchise.
@@SlideIX You misunderstood, i think. Theyre so sure he can do it, that they didnt even tell him he was doing it until they were recording him already in studio.
Well, he voiced Leon in RE6 and a bunch of animated movies, and he cosplayed Dante in one of the Halloween episodes of Critical Role, so you're not too far off.
@@KanrielTechnically. But that notoriety comes with already demonstrating a range of voices, accents, and sound effects. "Give me some Trent Ikithon."
Should have been Steve, or Gojo’s, english va, just the be more unique i can see Vincent, with a higher softer voice while still being dark, and serious hence gojo, because he acts like a sophisticated vampire himself.
@@joshshrum2764ehhh vincent isn’t anything like gojo, vincent is haunted by his past and has deep regret for everything he feels he failed to do, Gojo was the strongest from birth almost complete opposite’s
Congratulations on making it in, matt! ❤ Some of us knew you as Yuskue from persona 5, Ganondorf, Levi, Jotaro, Kagaya from demon slayer, Espio, Ira from kingdom hearts, and so many more! Now, you are Vincent valentine from Final fantasy 7!
He was also the voice of Kanji Tatsumi of Persona 4 Anime for episodes 13-26 (for some reason Troy Baker couldn't do those episodes. Even though he is the OG voice for the character).
Why are VA the coolest and chillest people? This guy seem so fun, and Aeriths VA seems like a total sweetheart. Also Ben star and Henry Mcentire are also alsolute gems. Same with pretty much any other VA i look into/follow.
Nah a lot of today’s have plenty of ego. As the other guy said there’s a lot of liberal Hollywood wokeness. At the top level they’re pretty much Hollywood anyway, a lot of them do both.
This voice actor is a fan of the original game, even did cosplay for it back in the day. I love when actual fans of a series get to pick up the torch and keep running with it.
@@jaybee4288”Hollywood wokeness” Artists of all mediums have been overwhelmingly left wing for decades now. You guys just gotta accept this and move on.
Im so glad Matt had this chance. Vincent is one of my all time favorite FF characters. I havent reached him quite yet but i know hes going to absolutely kill it!
Knowing Matthew a little, not personally, but knowing his character this is big for him cause final fantasy seven is what put play station on the broad of the big dogs
I got to meet him at a convention! He was super cool! I drew 3 pictures. One for him to keep and one for both me and a friend to have him sign. I didnt expect him to be so seemingly excited about my drawing and the fact i made one for him. It was really cool
I didn't know Matt Mercer voices Vincent in Rebirth!! I'm still in the Correl region so I haven't gotren that far yet. That's absolutely awesome. He voiced Minsc and now Vincent Valentine? That's incredible
I love that all the cast members have fallen in love with their characters. They legitimately have a love for this game. And yet, Matt is perfect as Vincent
His voice is sexy as hell as vincent dude only shows up in 3 chapters and i already love this vincent version way more than the others especially that sexy voice
Love seeing celebrities get excited over a part of something that they are abig nerd for cause thats how you know they are going to give it there all in the acting
I still want to meet him so badly. I never manage to get to any of the few conventions he is at. I love that he voices Vincent Valentine and Trafalgar Law from One Piece. He is awesome!
Man your work on Jia Chong (Dynasty Warriors 8) was insane taking a brand new character and making him iconic right out of the gate. Excellent job on Vincent
Vincent is legit. I had fun (when I first got it, I was pissed bc it wasn't an upgrade like all the other final fantasies) but after getting over it, that game was super fun and ahead of its time.
