"Transman," "Man," or "Female Man"? Gender is different than sex, so none of these should be offensive (or paradoxical). Regarding pronouns, should there be two sets of pronouns? One exclusively for referring to one's primary sex (characteristics) and the other referring to either gender, sex, or more commonly both? The only reason to use the former (and new) set of pronouns would be to indicate that someone is Trans, so one might as well just use the subjective pronouns (the only ones we use right now) and explain that someone is Trans in full sentences (example: He/She is a Transman [Female man]).

So your saying your boss is 10 years too late woke because it took him time to understand that maybe his behavior before was hurtful towards people and thus decided to change and now he tries to be more respectful of how he might still be subconsciously doing those things so he actually takes the time to ask you if he is offending you by asking things like "is this mansplaining?"? Most trans men are or want to be on T, which stops ovary production, so therefore most trans men are sexless men, not female men. Additionally, there are intersex trans men who might have not all been female to begin with (e.g. they were born with no gamete production but assigned a female sex, but then it turned out their gender identity is male). Since you don't point this out with many infertile cis men, e.g. in some cases of intersex traits or castration due to war or injury, I don't see a reason why you have to point out the sexlessness of trans men. Pointing out this sexlessness in trans but not cis men would be transphobic because you're treating trans men differently for no reason. I say we completely ignore sex characteristics in language unless it is necessary, e.g. when speaking about certain medical issues. And even then we should just use the specific words, e.g. people who mesntruate or people with prostate to avoid unproductive and unnecessary distress. Everyday language should only serve people to understand each other, and knowing what exact gametes a person produces (sex) is usually not relevant, unlike the social role they occupy in society (gender) or how they see themselves and want to be seen by others (gender identity).
