Yeah, they act as if what you get out of something is directly proportional to what you get out of it, while completely ignoring the nuance of there potentially being diminishing returns or some sort of plateau, not to mention how it affects every part of your life outside of your fiscal success. Also, it's not as if you can just keep putting more effort into something forever and get an infinitely increasing amount of profit from it as a result. I would rather my kids learn to work for their money and learn basic work ethic skills to save for their own homes. My parents started asking for rent after I turned 18 and told me to get a job. My family is huge and we're low income so, I had to even save for my own tuition. Definitely makes me value my education way more than I already did. If I became wealthy, I'd pay for my parents' retirement, save up for my kids education, and give the rest to charity once I'm dead. Inheritances for wealthy kids is overkill, they'll already be living in luxury just by being apart of a wealthy family.
