I was very lucky and got to run down to the coast after Hurricane Matthew! The first try I was caught in a flash flood, and was forced to turn back. Several days later I made it :) The MX Sport did better than I thought it would. It ran smooth, and found targets in the wet and dry sand.

I took my Sport to Gulf Shores last month. It ran decent in the wet sand but would overload quite often when wading in the surf...would only do it when the fast moving water would rush over the coil. I had to back the sens down to around 4 to keep it from doing it as bad. In the dry sand it was pretty good. I learned that the dollar signals were always crown caps off bottles. I did find one ring but it was only a tungsten wedding band. I thought the Sport handled it pretty well. If I lived at the beach and hunted a lot I would opt for something like the Minelab but for just vacationing...it will do the trick and cost just half what the Minelabs cost.

I agree. The Mx sport is great for the price, but if I was wet sand hunting every day I'd go with a multi frequency machine. Thanks for watching, and good luck with your detecting!

Great video on the MX Sport! Were you able to keep the sensitivity at 7 the whole time you were on the beach? Was the signal responsive or choppy? Thanks for the help. Trying to get a handle on mine. It's hard to let go of my V3i.

Digging Pitts I was able to run up to 9 most of the time. Deep Targets, 8 inches or so were choppy, but you had a pretty good idea that something was there. The stock coil was more stable than the concentric on these fairly mineralized beaches. I reground balanced frequently even though I was tracking. It helped. I did run into one spot that was heavy black sand. I had to reduce sensitivity significantly there, but for the most part I was running close to wide open, 9 a lot of the time. Don't expect to dig much past 8 or 9 inches on coin sized objects. Seems like the limit for single frequency. Hope this helps.

DetectingtheBurgh Thanks Keith. It did good for a single frequency machine. I was surprised that it ran that smooth. I appreciate you watching, and best of luck with your detecting!

You might want to take a look at the Whites Treasure Pro. Gene has a great review of it on his channel. It's not fully submersible, but the coil is, and you can get one with headphones and free shipping on Ebay for around $370. For that price, it really comes with a lot of features that are typically only found on higher priced machines, and as far as your back and neck go, it only weighs about three pounds. Really light. You can hit the beach with it, as well as everything else you mentioned.

Just got my MX SPORT and was very disappointed in how it reacted at the beach today . It was jumping all over with false signals . I would dig and there was nothing there . I had it in beach mode and this was my first time using it . Any suggestions on how to set it up for salt beaches . What was that thing you did when you raised it up and down ? You said that it does something with ground balancing

Hardworking American same thing happened to me, I went to the actual whites manufacture in Oregon and they said that it really is not made to go in salt water, and that freshwater was what they recommend using it for only. It makes sense, it’s a vlf, the only machines that can truly handle salt water are pulse induction. I bet that whites would be willing to trade your mx sport for a surfmaster pi if you say that you thought it would work in salt water and didn’t due to the advertising. Anyways the mx sport is a great machine in freshwater and dry sand.

Danny Austin I had better luck with it the second time out . I watched a video about using it and by raising the coil up and down 6-10 times several inches off the ground that it gets in tune with the ground that you plan to go over . Mind you I didn't find any goodies but it found many bottle caps . It still would read weird signals at times so I dug almost everything . There were 2 pros with CT 3030's that cleaned up okay . Man they found a lot of change . I bought the unit on EBay and I think it's been 30 days so a trade in might not be to easy . Probably go with an Excalibur II for the saltwater beaches and use the other one for other places but I won't give up on it yet , some people are happy using them in saltwater beaches . Anyway thanks for the reply and hope you score something awesome out there

Hello buddy . Just lower your gain until you have no more false signals . This will be the best you can do in saltwater . A nice day to you . I have got a Whites TDI SL . This machine is just amazingly deep 14 /16 inches on a gold ring in Salt water . Much better than a excal . The only drawback is that it is not waaterproof . Only the coil is waterproof . But you will recover all the target other machine cannot . It also is extremely sensitive on very fine gold . So you will still find gold when all the others do not anymore due to the fact that most of the beaches are tinted to death. It also is a wonderful gold nugget Hunter and works very well as a relic Hunter machine. This is the onliest pulse induction machine wich really can discriminate iron . Go to Ed Beach Hunter and you will understand .. You can cover a gold ring Whit nails and still only hear the Goldring .Have a nice day

Rapunzel I figured out what was going on with it . Soon I will check out the Equinox 800 , that is selling out all over . Submersible is important in a machine , not so much at my freezing beach but elsewhere . Don't have to much time to hunt but every time out I learn something . Ed and his other friends have cleaned house in my area , unless a treasure chest falls out of the sky good luck . That's the way of things but I will keep at it , beat to you out there
