Thanks I have this machine. Have to keep track of all these options. Thought all that humming meant something is wrong. It gets annoying. Subbed you!

It's what I've found works best. The threshold hum would work great in parks. Keep in mind that in order to hear the DEEP, DEEP objects, your threshold will need to be tuned up to about 12 to 17. SAT on 2, and Sens on 5. When sweeping, use short, slow, overcrossing patterns and listen for a double echo from the hum. Any hum change, is a deep object. Sometimes the VDI will indicate what the machine thinks is down there, other times not. Be ready to dig 14 to 20 inches when you hear a faint echo of the hum. Beeps usually tone at 0 to 10 inches. Good hunting!

wrong, WRONG WRONG ! SAT- RUN ON 4 , SENSITIVITY- RUN IT AS HIGH AS YOU CAN BUT KEEP IT STABLE AS POSSIBLE. TURN IT ALL THE WAY UP THEN BACK IT OFF UNTIL YOU GET STABLE SOUNDING MACHINE NO CHATTER. EXCESSIVE CHATTER WILL CAUSE YOU TO MISS TARGETS. YOUR MX WILL NOT SEE OBJECTS AT 14 TO 20 INCHES EVEN WITH THE 13 " COIL AT BEST 12 INCHES. JUST WONT HAPPEN! IF YOUR AREA IS FULL OF MODERN TRASH AS MOST BUSY PARKS ARE ITS GOING TO TAKE YOU SOME TIME TO DIG OUT THE JUNK BEFORE YOU CAN HIT THE DEEP TARGETS. DO NOT PASS ON GOOD SHALLOW TARGETS YOU CAN EASILY SCORE NICE SILVER JUST UNDER THE SOD. IF YOU ARE DEALING WITH HEAVY GROUND MINERALS TRY RUNNING IN SALT BEACH MODE.
@BeepThis
@BeepThis 5 лет назад
OH AND ONE MORE THING YOU CAN LOCK TRACK OVER CLEAN GROUND THIS WILL HELP AS WELL. SOMETIMES IF I'M HEARING A IRON SIGNAL AND A GOOD SIGNAL CLOSE OR OVER TOP THE GOOD TARGET I MIGHT REGROUND BALANCE OVER THE IRON HELPS TO DISCRIMINATE THE BAD TARGET OUT

Thank you for the video, New Sport user and this is a big help. So much different than my old DFX. Going to hit some new permissions this week. and maybe take it to an old faithful spot that is "hunted out" to see if the fast processor can pick out something good in the trashy areas I avoided previously with the DFX and my relec in itself DI6000 Pro.

You'll here me say the word Saturation for SAT. SAT means "Self Adjusting Threshold". Saturation is just my "Old Timer" way of saying Self Adjusting Threshold, without actually using all of those words. But, I'm sure most of you will understand that. Also... My advice to you for initial setup: Start on a test target hole with an object buried 5-7 inches deep. Set your SAT at :0 . Set Threshold at: 5. Sweep your detector over the target at your normal sweeping speed. NOTE: Can you hear the threshold Hum change over the target? Adjust SAT up until you can definitely hear the change. You will normally be around 2 to 4 on SAT when the threshold hum really becomes noticeable with headphones. Next: Raise your threshold hum up to increase the clarity of the target threshold hum signal. Headphones settings will differ from non-headphone settings. Sensitivity:05, Disc: pre-set, Tone I.D.: 8, IRNGNT: 01, VCO: ON, Aud Mod: 00, Rej Vol: 20-40, SalTrk: 00.

I tried what you have recommended on this video and i have to say it does work BUT you have to have nerves of steel to listen to the higher volume threshold all day.

You're right! I like the extra depth it gives and the ability to hear every different mineral tone in the ground. I have found coins and other objects very deep and sitting so strangely that the coin and jewelry mode would have missed them among the very trashy areas I search. It's a great feature especially for the hunters who want to hear everything in the ground. Cheers.

I have a feeling you'll say below 6 due to previous conversations. What is the recommended sensitivity for relic mode?
@ShawnStoffelRelicSeekr
@ShawnStoffelRelicSeekr 6 лет назад
Hello Michael. Sensitivity is another one of those tricky settings. The reason why I did not mention it in my video is because I never touch it. There's really no significant difference between the settings of 5 - 7. However, if I were using the 13-inch coil, in an open field, you bet I would be cranking sensitivity to the max. But, as it is around abandoned home sites, no need to change it from factory setting. It is pre-set tuned perfectly without touching it. I never go above 6 personally, if I change it at all.
@BeepThis
@BeepThis 5 лет назад
rule of thumb always set your sensitivity as high as you can without the machine erratically beeping. you will never be stuck at one extreme or the other. bumping the sensitivity up or down by one or two can make a huge difference in either direction.
@SandBoy408

I use the same settings, but no treshold, because the "chattering" of the relic mode, is just the treshold for that program. Anyway, good style man...

SAT is self adjusting threshold, not saturation.
@ShawnStoffelRelicSeekr

Yes thanks... I know! It is what I call it rather than calling it "Self Adjusting Threshold". Saturation is much shorter, and most people know what I mean.

On the video he mentioned that the volume was turned up for video purposes. I'm sure you can turn down the volume and get the same results.
@ShawnStoffelRelicSeekr
@ShawnStoffelRelicSeekr 5 лет назад
Sure, but I keep my volume maxed at 30 on relic mode with high threshold. This helps me hear deep tones louder. I've noticed that when threshold is turned down or if volume is down, or in silent mode, the deep targets are hard to hear or impossible to hear.
@ShawnStoffelRelicSeekr

Matter of fact, a couple hunts ago I had a deep 9-10'' button signal that was very choppy, and hard to hear with the MX Sport. I had my buddy Chuck put his machine coil over it and he never heard the signal. It was a tiny button, but a button that was detected and recovered.
@scottyboy2400

How do you stand to listen to all those background sounds? Can you still be successful by tuning it to get rid of all that background noise? I mean seriously there is no way i could use headphones especially and listen to that crap all day . I am new to this but isn't the threshold responsible for that noise? If so how important is it? Anything you want to tell me about threshold will be greatly appreciated! thx!
@ShawnStoffelRelicSeekr
@ShawnStoffelRelicSeekr 6 лет назад
Sorry for the late reply. I just learned how to check my messages. To answer your question about the threshold noise, honestly if you can't hear the threshold, you will not hear many deep, deep, signals. The reason is simple. On this type of machine, you get two target notification signals, the Beep, Beep, Beep, and you also get the threshold hum. A lot of detectors with only the Beep, Beep, Beep, will miss very small, or deep targets because it's the only option. However, with the MX Sport, You may here a beep, or a slight beep, or no beep, but you'll definitely hear the threshold hum change. So, if your coil goes over an object 10-inches deep, but won't get a good enough coil interference to make that beep, the LOUDER the THRESHOLD, the better you can tell if something is there or not. I hope that explains it. Cheers.

Shawn Stoffel *RelicSeekr* YES that helped me understand much better! Only thing is that to me it just seems like with headphones on and i set the threshold high to find more deeper targets, the sound is going to drive me mad! Does it not bother you to constantly hear all the chatter? ALSO----- PLEASE let me know you fav setting on a dry beach and in the beach water? Especially the THRESHOLD setting you fav? And seriously! THANKS SO MUCH for taking the time to explain this to a rookie! XD

regardless your not going to hear a threshold break with all that beeping and bonking going on. you need to tone it down. there's a time and place to run all metal mode or hot settings in a disc mode. don't run your machine like this guy.
@BeepThis
@BeepThis 5 лет назад
first and foremast stabilize your machine threshold volume is more of a user preference. as long as you can hear threshold changes that's loud enough you absolutely do not need to crank it up like that has no effect on anything but premature hearing loss

hi friend was wondering what Gold rings come in as relics in relic mode on the MX Sport? Buttons, buckles, bullets? thanks
@ShawnStoffelRelicSeekr
@ShawnStoffelRelicSeekr 4 года назад
Gold normally rings up on the low side of the scale somewhere in the nickel range. However, I personally dig every target regardless of the VDI range because things lay funny in the ground, and/or other minerals will devalue a good target. Dig Everything.

@@ShawnStoffelRelicSeekr yes I know, but I was wondering if you could do me a favour, and just run your coil over a few different sized gold rings in The relic mode and let me know if they come up as buttons or buckles or whatnot.

i disagree you got to much chatter going on and no need to have the threshold volume cranked up that high. your not going to hear it break on good faint signals.
@ShawnStoffelRelicSeekr
@ShawnStoffelRelicSeekr 5 лет назад
Yeah, sure… If you're not using threshold than I suppose you wouldn't understand.
@ShawnStoffelRelicSeekr

That's user opinion, because when my threshold is turned up higher I can here all of the tones very clearly. Too low, and you're missing those so called faint targets.

@@ShawnStoffelRelicSeekr i've swung a whites for 40 + years. A "bit" of threshold experience here. I would NEVER run my thresh that high.

Between that squeaky ass handle and the sounds of that piece of junk id be in a nut house after a day of trying to relax and enjoy detecting. Get yourself a Etrac and you wont have to listen to that shit!
