Thanks for making this video Carolina Coin Hunter.. I've been struggling with my first White's detector - MXS w/recently upgraded (firmware & replaced stock coil). It's so stable that I've been running it with sensitivity in the 7-9 range, but alas, hearing so many targets that it can get frustrating. I get a lot of one way signals (I wonder if it's so hot that it picks up the halo effect of deep iron). I'm not a quitter, and am very patient (most successful metal detectorist have to be). I had a hunch that this machine was incredibly powerful, but not easy to master. Kind of like learning to drive a stick shift with a Ferrari! I always used the most sensitivity I could on my Etrac and AT Pro, but after watching your vid, will definitely tone it down some on this machine. Nice to know I have some power in reserve if I have a very deep target I need to investigate. The MX Sport could be a sleeper; time will tell. Keep making MXS videos as you learn this detector... they're very helpful. Rob in N.Y. ~ just subscribed.
Good video! i just purchased the MX Sport, and was alarmed when it went off like a Chinese Auctioneer. After running it a little and watching these vids- I'm starting to get in tune with it.. At first i was like "WHOA"!!! lol
Love that Whites sign! WOW What a great item to have in a Man Cave! Congrats on the finds! I have the MX-Sport but it just does not find anything but iron! I use the Whites DFX most of the time as it finds good items! ;-)
My DFX will actually run circles around the MX sport I bought. Really a disappointment. The MX has me digging false signals ALOT! Side by side comparison was eye opening . The hype was not worth the price. MX single frequency is old school and inconsistent. The Equinox 800 is multi frequency and waterproof. Did comparison with one also. It was a embarrassing moment for me. The NOX 800 discriminated out stuff the MX was saying coin ! Save your money and get dual frequency machine!!
You are so correct on this detector being very sensitive. I've ran many different brands and other Whites. 8 on the MXT and MX5 is about the same as 4 or 5 on the MX Sport. Even in wet sand I've found small ear ring studs, and 1/8 of an inch pieces of foil that were hard to even pin point. It still surprises me with some of the tiny things I find. Guess that's why the factory default settings on sensitivity are so low.
Does AUDIOMOD work for you? Mine only cracks at the last inch. I also noticed nickles coming in deeper then quarters has to be the FREQ it runs on. Only complaints for me so far since the PATCH is AUDIOMOD and wish it had a trigger pinpoint hate the push button pinpoint. I hit a small button in heavy trash at 7 inches running SENS 7 that came in at a MISC 50 loud and clear. I am surprised I found anything in that junk I was hunting in. To bad they cant get the 6X10 to be spoked or something so it wouldn't float in water. Between your MXT and MXS which one is the one you would keep?
Thanks for the very helpful video. I detected a local park on about sensitivity 4 and got some mercuries, indian heads, and bunch of wheat pennies. Have gone through the same area with sensitivity 8, and have gotten some good things, but am having trouble with it picking up "everything". I might put it back to five or six now.
This helped a lot concerning the sensitivity. I've got a few hours on my MXS and was noticing that the noise didn't seem like EMI noise or random chatter. You test garden on sens. 3 was a real eye opener. I'll be running her down in the mid range more. Thanks.
Thanks for watching! The MXS is a really hot machine, and lowering the sensitivity can really help pick through the junk without losing the good stuff at depth.
Your vid was so helpful. The owners manual from whites was not complete in my opinion. I am having an issue with target id. Strong dime and quarter signals are only producing iron or aluminum. I'm not sold on this machine.
just got the mx sport im going to Garden City Beach in SC Monday do you have any advice on what to run the numbers on Good advice on the MX Sport Thanks David P.S. im In Lexingtion NC
I do not get paid by Whites and have been using their detectors since 1970s. Still have my old blue box detector. Recently bought into the hype on the MX Sport and purchased it. DISAPPOINTED is an understatement!! My 20 yr old DFX runs circles around it !!! The MX / DFX side by side was a eye opener. The MX had me digging junk and was so chattery even with program changes and sensitivity changes. The target ID system is way less accurate than my old DFX. My time is too valuable to be digging junk all day. Don't waste your hard earned cash when you can get a multi frequency machine that is also waterproof such as the NOX 800 for a bit more 👍. Oh and I don't work for Equinox either. Just hope this helps someone 😃
Some MX Sport users were saying that they were having trouble being able to hear the difference in the tones of crown caps and coins. What has been your experience?
Does the Whites Treasure Pro or the MX Sport have a frequency shifter? I have been having a rough time lately with terrible EMI interference mostly at some public Parks. I dont remember having this problem back in the 90's with my XLT before everyone owned Cell Phones. Which machines that you own are better at dealing with Massive EMI interference? Thank you. Evelyn
It's no ExCal, but then again it will run in places where you may not want to take the Excal. Sensitivity in salt water is 4, maybe 5 max. I'll take it anytime over an ATPro in wet sand or salt water though. I've ran wet dark sand all the way up to 8 sensitivity. Still playing with the All Metal and trying to add in salt tracking.
+АRT Int. Thank you. I'm appreciate you watching. I bet you guys find some cool stuff in Russia. Lots of history there I'm sure. Good luck to you friend :)
+Carolina Coin Hunter Thank you!good luck in the search for a treasure my friend! if I find something interesting,be sure to send you photos!:) PS you have a very beautiful nature!
Save your cash and get the Equinox 800! Multi frequency, waterproof, light, My 20 yr old DFX runs circles around my MX Sport!! Not worth the money at all! Don't but into the hype! Single frequency is OLD technology! Been detecting for over 40 yrs and still have my old blue box detectors from 70s. The MX sport is just one of those but waterproof!! Really disappointed to say the least!
It holds it's own for a single freq. detector and better the most in the price range. Very stable in wet sand, just have to lower the sensitivity to 4 when you go into the ocean. First time out in Cartagena Colombia I found a silver ring and gold men's wedding band in rough broken coral about knee deep. Both were mixed up in the wash and less than 4 inches deep, but sounded off load and clear.
+AmericanCoinHunting Thanks Dave. I was just catching up on my subscriptions. Forest is one of the nicest guys out there! I really appreciate both you guys watching my videos. I've been getting behind lately with too many things going on work wise. I'll be enjoying a bunch of videos tonight :) GL & HH!
had high hopes for the mx sport even with the firmware update it's still to unstable for the price.whites needs to drop the price down at least take 100.00 off.not worth 750.00 there asking.
+Steve Klein How old are you Two? I have been in the FORUMS and Detecting forever and owned many Detectors get over yourself. There are a lot of Detectors out there not worth what they are asking but you have to pay to play if you want them nothing new there.
+Steve Klein You came right off accusing me of not owning a MX Sport. Want me to make a video calling you an idiot while I video my MXSPORT? I am done commenting to you.
+Green Meanie Yeah make me a video bro.maybe I'm doing something wrong.when you going to make it.if your from ohio I live in cincinnati you can show me in person.thanks
