Same happened to me. Ex called off the wedding 3-4weeks before the day. Was cheating and I just cut him off. He calls me day of wedding saying he regrets it and wants to get married still. Worst part is that he called it off but I was the one that had to call everyone and explain the wedding was canceled. I also had to call the venue and cancel with them because he was too chicken to do it. Best thing he ever did for me even though it was the worst time. I’m happily marrried now with someone else and have two beautiful amazing kiddos. I saw his brother out somewhere and he told me my ex is still single playing house with someone else at 39 years old and everytime they argue he goes back to his mom house. Still immature and never changed. Girl, just leave and don’t look back. It’ll hurt for a moment but the blessing will come for you later on.

Now THIS is the truth! It’s one thing when you are married and kids etc… not married and having to forgive someone for cheating??? It will happen through out the marriage… after 11 years this will be HARD for her… but I still think in the end it will be easier than constantly being cheated on… and she only knows it because he got caught… not because he felt bad and told her to come clean

I have been married for about 5 months when I found out he had been cheating on me 4 out of the 5 years we were together. During this time we had two kids together, a dog, house and minivan. We had what I thought was the American dream with our degrees and great jobs, life etc. my point is…. Run!! I packed his things and put them in the garage since I had decided to change the locks and have him served divorce papers the next day. Best decision I ever made was to get rid of him and his nasty ways.

Nope. Before my current fiance I got cheated on twice by a sumbag. I pretty much cussed him out then drove to his house and told his father how much of a scumbag his son was lol. Looking back my actions were a little drastic but I needed to do what I needed to do to find peace. I'm now engaged to a man who treats me like a Queen. Listen caller? Cheaters do you a favor - they push you right into your destiny.

I like what you did. Maybe being exposed to his dad was enough to make him never cheat again. While it is less common, I have met people who had a one time affair and never again. It usually takes major exposure, deep repentance, and outside help. You saved yourself and maybe did him a favor by setting him up for a successful relationship in the future.

Being cheated on is one of the worst feelings, especially when so much time has been invested with that person. It's a classic sunken cost fallacy, where you don't want to let go of the person because you have invested all that time and have so many memories with him. In the end though, if you had only dated him for a short time, you wouldn't accept that type of behavior. Trust is everything in a relationship- you deserve better👍

I completely understand the anger, but you can’t pawn the ring legally. He could sue her for it and he’d win in court. An engagement ring is considered a verbal contract to get married.

My uncle cheated on my aunt when they were engaged, the night before their wedding, and 29 years later when he left her for someone their sons age. It’s best to take this sign now and not stick around like my aunt. They had beautiful kids and that’s it, she’s broken and he is with someone else.

Sweetie, he doesn’t want you. Immature men almost never break up with women. When they want out of a relationship, instead of sitting you down and ending it, they will cheat, lie, start treating you badly, etc… all in the hopes that you’ll end it for them. Sometimes it’s even subconsciously… it’s hard to see it now, but it’s a blessing you found out BEFORE marrying him. Run.

This is so true. Men don't seem to have the guts to end a relationship. They do just as you said...lie, cheat even become abusive in the hopes that the woman will end the relationship. Even when you are married. They make life miserable enough that the woman will file for divorce. In his mind that makes her the " bad guy" and he becomes the "victim". Then he will use that as a ploy to draw sympathy from other women. Delia, just be glad you found out before you got married. I didn't. But now you can be free to do whatever your heart desires with your life. You can go back to school if you want, change careers, do volunteer work where you may make some new friends...anything you want. Dr John is right about having to grieve for your lost dreams..but as time goes on you will develop new ones. And learn to love yourself for the amazing person you are. And tap into your faith..God is still in charge and will help you find your way through this.🙏

Delia, Im proud of you for following Johns advice. Better to get away from a man like that now who doesn’t know your worth than to have married him and find out years into the marriage that hes cheating on you / not treating you as he should. Your young. Take time for yourself now. My husband left me after we were together nearly 25 years - The woman he is with doesnt realize that if he walked out on the mother of his children ,how much easier it will be someday for him to leave her. Before you get serious with someone again take time to love yourself and see your inner dignity and worth. See yourself as God sees you- His precious daughter. Im still working on rebuilding .

This probably isn’t the first time he has cheated. Obviously she knows. She tracks his phone. This young lady needs to walk away from this man and don’t look back. There has to be consequences. If she rolls over and gives him a pass on this, she will go through it again down the road. It also ruins the next young lady that gets involved with a man like that. This confused man is planning to cheat on his partner for the rest of his life cause that's who he is. He wants to find a wife who will put up with that so he's testing her (in an unconscious way). This girl has the self esteem of a mosquito and sounds like she's willing to put up with his bad behaviour (she's mad because he moved out not because he broke her heart). She's a great candidate for the role of the eternal suffering wife. It's going to take a lot of therapy to get out of this one Delihla. Plus you're dating a narcissist. The level of depravity a person must be at to tell a person "I Love you" and then hours / days later, cheat on that same person.....that depravity must be off the charts! I am so baffled by the type of character one must possess to do that to a person whom you have given your heart. It is psychopathic behavior and if you find yourself in a relationship with a person that exhibits any signs of this, DO NOT try to "FIX" them.....you can't fix them and neither can they unless they admit it....admit they have serious issues. Even then, my suggestion would be to run if you are not yet married.

I had a boyfriend through most of high school and into college- at the time he seemed to be the one, but the truth was he was a "crutch" to get through things- and we were much too codependent- the break up was awful- not quite an OJ situation but a close friend told me- this guy is not good for you- and it really is about being on your own and learning about yourself- having an education and career helped me out of that introverted, dependent little girl into an independent woman. I no longer needed a man- I could have a healthy relationship with healthy boundaries and trust if I wanted- because I had the self-esteem to be in a healthy relationship. It hurts right now, but you will grow and learn away from this person. Don't let FEAR make this big decision.

Sending you the biggest hug girl I know how hard this is, I walked through it for 3 years (we were married so we tried to make it “work” he never stopped seeing the other person he even had a kid with her) the divorce was finalized at the beginning of this year it was by far the hardest decision I ever had to make but as soon that was over I felt anxious no more, the overthinking stopped, the hyper vigilance was gone and during those 3 years that had become my new normal don’t get me wrong it was a very messy healing season but now that I’m on the other side I’m thankful I got out there when I could, I promise you things will get better and once you’ve made it to the other side you’ll be happy you made that choice. Rooting for you ❤️

Nah. All this would do is make men propose faster and walk down the aisle faster - but they’ll just wind up cheating in the marriage. Studies show 20% of men in their 80s cheated on their wives - and those women withheld. Marriage just makes it harder to leave when someone’s true personality comes out.

I feel so sorry for people who have to ask what to do in this situation. For me, it's a no brainer -- leave. Do not tolerate disrespect. Do not invite someone into your sphere who is willing to put your life at risk by exposing you to diseases and potential homicidal drama (yes, cheating people have murdered their families, partners and mistresses, etc...l ). You have to value yourself more and not tolerate toxic behavior.

I can relate to that my Fiancé cancelled the wedding at first not because he was cheating but he said he wasn’t really ready and then after only few days he said he’s ready but I didn’t even gave him any chance as soon as he said he was not ready I made up my mind this is not the kind of guy I want to marry . Thank God I did not now I found the one for me and so happy and blessed . I still see my ex because we have a son and TIL now he said that he regret that he was fickle in marrying me and he’s still single and he’s diagnosed with diabetes.I feel sorry for him but God is so good I m with my soulmate and best friend now 💜So if this happened to me sure to you to you deserve better.Take care

It’s good to hear that you’re doing better. You were very lucky on this one. My mom cheated on my dad multiple times when I was younger boy. I can’t say he got out unscathed as my mother went on for the next 30 years of my life trying to convince me that all men were evil, mostly successfully while I was young. She talked bad about my dad every day we were together. Luckily, had a certain point I stopped listening, and now have a much better relationship with my father. Imagine if you had married him, and had children with him. If he is as big of a jerk as he sounds, he could’ve put your own children against you, which would be horrible. I really wish my dad had found out sooner, although, technically, then my brother, and I wouldn’t have been born, but he is doing a lot better, and finally remarried a nice woman decades later after I even had children. Take care of yourself!! Edit- the reason I know my mom cheated was because she flat out told me and I even caught her sleeping around a few times. But I was very naïve, and only 7 to 8 years old over that time period.

@@blueseptember2174 My husband showed the first red very shortly into our marriage by giving me the silent treatment for “I have no idea still to this day why”. He was a master of the silent treatment and tortured me with it throughout our entire 13 yr. marriage. I NEVER saw this side of him the entire time we dated and were engaged; his true colors came out after the wedding. I found out after our divorce in 2022, that he cheated with the same woman that he cheated on his first wife with, pretty much throughout our entire marriage. They are together now; now that she has left her husband of 31 yrs. that is. I have NO IDEA why my husband wanted to marry me in the first place, other than he didn’t want to be alone while waiting on his” dream lady” to leave her husband. It was a very cruel marriage that I should have never let happen. My advice is to RUN if the person you are dating tells you their marriage ended due to them cheating. Do NOT believe that they will not cheat you too. Run!

@@2171april I'm reading & I see you had a super red flag before marriage. Sometimes it's a gift when it seems like a loss. I personally have been through different life things ruminating on"I can't believe this happened to me." Somewhere along the line I started feeling totally peaceful. All of a sudden I realized I have autonomy, made my own choices and it's like this weight lifted and any anger I carried was gone. I'm just glad I know all this s*** now, lol.! My problem was my wife had major father figure problems since childhood.which is why she divorced her first husband. she held a grudge with him 20 YEARS LATER Agter divorce. I chose to ignore them and payed for it with an emotionally distant spouse months into marriage. She had EXTREME BAGGAGE. . Learn to read the red flags early

Good point! My children are both teenagers, and I think about what to teach them in the coming years. One thing I’ve even spoken with him is that you never get married to a single mother or single father (I have one boy and one girl). You do not want someone who was previously married and divorced because there’s a 50% chance that you will get “crazy”. And you also really don’t want to be taking care of another person’s children. Especially if you end up breaking up and you have no right to see those children afterwards even though you put in the emotional and physical commitment. I’m sorry to the divorced people out there, but that’s the way I will teach them. I’ve seen my mom go through three divorces and I don’t understand what the men were thinking. Yes, my mother was the crazy one, and it would’ve been obvious to any of those men if they have looked for the signs.

This woman is the gatekeeper of her own misery. One day he's in, the next he's out only to be in the next day and out the next. She's tolerating this stuff. He's making this totally about him. She doesn't matter to him at all. He's in when it's beneficial for him. She knows what's up but talks herself out of believing it. He's still seeing the other woman and has no plan to stop. Sometimes it's not about his words...it's his actions. His actions are saying I only want you when it's beneficial for me....and she's playing the role.

I am of the opinion also that you should not live together, and I did not live with my wife before we married. There are statistics that show that people who live together are less likely to divorce … in the first year of marriage. I assume that is because they have almost been like a married couple prior to that. However, the statistics ask you the other direction upon entering the second year of marriage and onward. Upon the second year, you’re more likely to divorce if you live together prior to being married. I would not be able to explain why, but those are what the statistics have shown, and my wife and I are happier than ever 17 years into our marriage so there’s one anecdote. Although, for full disclosure, I’m also of the opinion that parents would find a better mate for their children, then the children themselves.

She is 25, they are together for 6.5 years, so they dated when she was 18 plus and before they were best friends for 4 - 5 years. So she was a teenager. That was a Romeo / Juliet thing that had outlived its time. Hooking up with the best friend might have felt safe at that time (for both). - I think he _wanted_ to be found out, he did not have the courage to tell her right away. And the other woman likely makes him some pressure, she may have found out that he is engaged. She must know the name of the fiance the Facebook posts.
