Something about you two, it’s comfy, watching Kyle has always been familiar and friendly like family, but with Alisa it just works better. Could be she is better to look at, but I also like her opinion, she gives the consumers viewpoint. Kyle is so knowledgeable about all vehicles, Alisa give a nice balance and warmth. I bought 2 Ford Lightnings in September. One for myself (mostly for work) and a Pro for my Employee to help with daily operations on our small Wireless ISP. They are great trucks. The employee truck is driven around 150 miles a day and it's already saving us quite a bit in fuel. I'm not sure what our very rural customers would think of the Cybertruck pulling up to their homes. I kinda like that the F150s are almost a 'Stealth' EV. I'm sure by the time we could get one, they will be all over the place though. They look pretty cool though for sure!

@JK_Vegas

@@nthused I would suspect at least for now that they would think we are charging too much for the service if we pulled up in one. With the lightnings, we've only had 1 or 2 that outright despised EVs and had their standard laundry list ready for my employee (Batteries, fire, child labor, coal etc etc). Otherwise most haven't even noticed as it looks like a regular F150 at first. My employee absolutely loves the truck especially since he doesn't have to stop for fuel anymore.

I saw the truck today in Chicago. It is cooler in person than in pics and videos. I agree with Alyssa that it seems more a museum piece than a truck, but I’m very excited about it. I too noticed the conspicuous window seals in the front side windows. On such a design centered automobile, seeing something so mundane in your face takes something away. I still dig it though. Another funky detail I noticed is where the horizontal dash meets the part that angles up. In this truck, there seemed to be warping and a generally a messy transition. This may only be noticeable from two specific angles. Something I think is cool but makes it more like an art piece than a truck is the stainless panels on the far rear sides. Viewed from the rear and through the gap, you can see the red marker light reflected on the backside of those panels. It’s almost like the panel is more of a mounted shield versus a tightly abutted body panel. I’m super excited for this truck and the event this week. I’m particularly interested in which motor variants are available immediately.

To answer your question about steering wheels diving by wire: Under US law there has to be a physical connection between the steering wheel and road wheels. Thus car manufacturers in the past had to redesign cars for the US market. Eg Porsche is a prime example - they had to redesign the car for the USA market so it was a few years late and an extra 10k to 30k more (or something like that) But the way the law is written and car designs have been allowed on the roads in the USA that physical connection could be as good as a piece of string or normally a very under-engineered piece of steel rod or thin pieces of flat steel fitted together as in the Porsche

The things i am curious on are how well the stainless steel holds uo to midwest winters and road salt, and how those back windows will do with snow.... The frame back there is so wide it seems like a prime spot for snow to collect and build up on, could have quite the snow drift sitting there. For that matter, i wonder how easily the headlights down low will get blocked by snow.... Hopefully they added some heating elements or something to keep those clear. And of course, I need to see if they got their "bullet proof" glass working... The entire reason i want one of these is so I can watch hail and rocks bounce off of it and laugh, instead of worrying about having to get my windshield swapped out every time a truck chucks a rock at me on the road.
@momentumperformance8533
@momentumperformance8533 7 месяцев назад
It will hold up much better than your typical car that's made from cold rolled steel, which needs so much anti-corrosion coatings and will rust as soon as it sees any kind of salt at all. Stainless steel does not rust. It will withstand winters and salt way better.

I feel a bit like Melissa, it is too big to fit in my garage, therefore it would have to stay out in my driveway and the street traffic would increase exponentially as the whole community drives by for a peek! plus I like being under the radar, so the Cybertruck is a "look at me" type vehicle. That being said, I did pre-order one but I am years away from getting a sniff of it 😃 Cheers

I have no space in my garage for a truck. Or to store my brother's motorbike for the winter for that matter. My wife hates it, says she won't be caught dead in that thing The only place I have to keep it is on the street (rather not, and cannot in winter when snow clearing is in effect) or in a wider part of the driveway right in front of the house, or at the top of the drive way in front of the garage door. I think that's where it will go so I can install charging without having to spend a fortune pulling wire. But it's going somewhere, she can walk if she likes, I'm going to enjoy my CYBRTRC plates.

Although cybertruck design is unlike anything else on the road, people will get used to them. Just like the 2nd gen prius(2004-2009), everyone will complain about how ugly they are, and just like Toyota, Tesla will sell millions of them, and people will still call them ugly, but it won't be a big deal cause they'll be everywhere. Excited to see efficiency compared to F150 Lightning, Chevy Silverado work truck, R1T, etc.
@markhuff862
@markhuff862 7 месяцев назад
Many people will never get over its looks and will refuse to consider getting a Cybertruck. That’s perfectly okay. That will still leave plenty of prospective customers for the Cybertruck. Tesla doesn’t need to convert everyone to generate millions of sales and drawing tons of traditional truck owners away from the Big Three.
@mylesgray3470

The Cyber truck has received more online hate than I’ve ever seen in a vehicle. People go out of their way to comment on how much they do not like it. The join cycles truck groups to hate on it. As a Prius driver I still get a tiny bit of hate for my car but hardly ever any more. People get used to things and they become normalized. This will happen with the cybertruck too but there are definitely some who will hate it forever because they don’t like Elon, or electric cars, or unique designs.

I went to the Bellevue, Washington store yesterday to see the Cybertruck. The mall and the store were both packed. The Cybertruck fit and finish looks fantastic - much better than the prototype that was at the Gigafactory for the shareholder meeting in May of this year. Looking forward to seeing the inside. Overall, I think this is going to be a home run for Tesla. Regarding the plastic panels under the bed, I think that’s part of the under-bed storage area. Yes it reduces departure angle while off-roading, but I personally think the extra storage space is a better value than raw off-roading capability. Just my 2¢. I'm in agreement with your take Kyle except, it will be my weird daily driver, not for camping or serious off roading. It's all dependant upon my Dec 3rd 2019 reservation allowing me to get one in 2024. If not, I'm going in another TBD direction.

@SWResto 2 million reservations and packed showrooms isnt enough proof? Ford sells 640k f150s per year for context. Sure the official price and features arent announced yet, but people already have a pretty good idea. The chief designer and elon have both stated: people will want this for the vast utility and we already know a ball park price. This is gonna blow every pickup truck out of the water.

I just went and saw the one in Tampa. To me it’s huge. I didn’t notice until I saw it in person but the door handles are gone. It has a button above the door. Not sure how I feel about that. I kind of like having a handle.

Every time I see this truck it brings me back to when I was a child and drawing vehicles on paper. As I got a little older with a ruler, every vehicle I drew was based on a Lamborghini Countach LP 400. This Cyber Truck reminds me of the sharp lines and long windscreen of the LP 400. Intriguing but ugly. As they say, “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder”. A big Ahrooo from my Beagle Henrietta to your Newfie Walter!

Price, range and length (will it fit in my 20' long garage?), these are the 3 most important pieces of information for me right now. Pre-ordered in 2019, about 53k down on the list for dual motor variant from production start. Hope we can test drive in Littleton sometime in future. We live about 90 miles from dealership in the mountains, hope to see it Monday, this will be my first time to see it in person, can't wait. If the 3 specs I'm looking for are good for us, this will be the perfect replacement for our 2018 Model 3. Thanks for confirming it is there.

I get the elevation in Colorado but I didn't know it snowed like that in November. Where I am in Toronto we don't get weather like that until usually the new year. And am not prepared for that. We've been lucky enough to still be in sweater weather through November. I hate how much the snow and cold slows down all aspects of life lol

@@wister121 Well for starters because we have certain standards in Europe concerning pedestrian safety and this "Monster" certainly is a pedestrian death trap ! Sharp corners everywhere! Secondly we wouldn't allow bullet proof cars over here, the car has to crumble in an accident to give both cars drivers a chance to survive! If this 5400 pound tank however crashes into a normal car, there will nothing much be left of it, while the CT will remain relatively unharmed. It also is a little too big for European roads and good luck finding a parking spot !

@20:42 The CT finish that Franz talked about a while ago could be a 3 stage process. Maybe starts with or includes 'SCOTCH-BRITE', then out with the 'RE-NU' Waterless Wash, followed by step three using the 'RE-NU' Augmented Reality 'CYBER-SHIELD' This 'Back To The Future' DIAMOND shines! _C R A Z Y_

A rail rack for the slanting haunch rails of the CT won’t be a problem, my current Ridgeline has height adjustable racks and my prior ridgeline had racks made to fit the slanting rails of the pre 2017 ridgeline. The problem with the slanting rails is when you have stuff in the bed like when camping or whatever it gets real hard to reach into the bed near the front. I’m 6’4” and it was a problem for me. What would have been nice would have been an integrated step like what Rivian did. You can also get steps that fit over the wheel. The worst problem with the slanting rail is that it creates a huge blind spot, this can be a real problem when merging.

The fender mounted charger slot had better have some good insulation. Good point about the rear charger slot 🤔, it should have been integrated into the rear corner tail light housing. The wiper arm should have been designed in similar fashion as the Semi (single bent arm from center to the passenger side, when activated over to the driver side). The front UCA’s look a bit thin, and what is up w/that bolt edge? 🤌🏻😵‍💫 (surely there will be aftermarket solutions for it, even to push the front wheels out a bit to get a wider front track 🤔). The front bumper camera and the automatic frunk opening are a plus and a welcome first ✌🏼😎.
