About time to get my beloved first Tamiya RC Car ever, the Tamiya WT-01 Mighty Bull XB Pro, up and running again for the new year! Only required some cleaning, patience and sixteen new ball bearings ... and then some new electronics (up next).
This is the first of several upcoming winter projects that ultimate should result in having all my cars up and running for spring and this season.
Apart from being my first Tamiya, this truck was also the beginning of 'Nordic RC Visions'. Here you can watch the Tamiya Mighty Bull's maiden run and my first video ever on this channel and RU-vid: • Tamiya WT-01 Mighty Bu...

Hi Mikael. Great work on this. Glad you have found time to rejuvenate one of the old ones. This has obviously got a special place in your heart so good to treat it to some maintenance. Not one that I've ever owned but looks good and easy to work on. Hope you have some more fun with this. Old Tamiyas never die, they just need a few spare parts. Oh unless they end up in a house fire 😩 Anyway, hope you have a good weekend mate 😀

Thanks, Pete. Yeah, I have so many great memories with this one, from not long ago when Tamiya and hobby-grade cars was all new to me ☺️ And yes, the WT-01 is so simpel to work on. Pure hobby-relaxation. Uhh ... yes, house fire, I know, but I hope you are building up new great memories with your new ones. I know, I am lucky to still have this one, as well as all my first RC’s from the 1980’s. But nothing lasts entirely forever 🙂

Wow bro, Doing the Mighty Bull up to run with your boy's Mud Blaster 2 awesome!! Always special to redo your first Tamiya to run with your son's first Tamiya ❤️ I'm looking forward for the rest of the series of this cool trucks. Surprising I don't have one yet ..lol Hope you and your family have a great weekend bro :)

Hi Chris! Yeah, gonna match up the specs of the motor and gear ratio of the two, so we can run both our first Tamiyas together (and none of them are too fast for a five-year-old). Gonna be great. Hope you're having a good weekend with your family too, Chris. Thanks a lot for watching, as always, my good friend.

I liked this video a very much. It had a lot of meaning. The first Tamiya is always the most special, no matter what it is. My first Tamiya was actually two Tamiya's. I bought my Ford F350 High Lift and CC-01 Mitsubishi Pajero Metaltop Wide and as a two RC deal in 2016. But my first Tamiya kit build was my Candy Green Grasshopper last year. Also very special. I'm looking forward to the Wild Dagger video Michael 😊👍👍

Thank you, Derek! Yeah, the first one, and the memories attached to it, has special meaning. Nice you got two first ones :-) And first build too. Remember your build with the Grasshopper. My first build was the Rising Fighter, so quite similar experience. Thanks, Derek! Hope to get to the Wild Dagger soon. Need electronics in this first, and then I am repairing/cleaning up my CC-01 at the moment. Hope to get them all finished and up and running. Many to go. Also the Vajra. But better do it in the winter, so one can enjoy the sun in the summer.

Hi Mikael! It is so great to see an old Tamiya given a new breath of life! And not too much work, the internals were remarkably in good shape - a testament to the build quality and the robust gearbox. As the caption said, "good as new"! Can't wait to see more, my friend, wishing you a very peaceful and enjoyable weekend! :-)

Yeah, and for me, it’s good to see her finally up and running again. Don’t want to upgrade more, just run it with the same specs as my son’s WT-01. Gears where remarkable great. Never been opened and has run with the plastic bushings. Love when Tamiya get’s it right with the plastic gears. Well, almost as good as new I think. Better with the bearings, but I also bet the plastic must be getting a little brittle now, compared to new. Thanks a lot for watching, Mark. I am enjoying the weekend. Wish you the best too ☺️

Thanks a lot Tony! Yeah, the WT-01's are some cool simple kits from Tamiya. Love them. And thanks for the feedback. I really appreciate it as filming it takes up most of the time when doing this sort of thing :-) Best to you, Tony. Looking forward for more awesome videos on your channel.

Hi Mikael. I bought Mighty Bull in 2019, it was very dirty and nobody gave it love for a long time. When I cleaned it, I was surprised how good it was. I put the shocks from TT02B on it and it runs great. (I had to make rear shocktowers from aluminium plate). I'm not surprised you have four, it is indestructible.
@NordicRC
@NordicRC 4 года назад
Hi Milos! Nice you got one too. and gave it some TLC. This one I bought in 2014 brand new (when it comes to Tamiya I was a late bloomer). First one on my channel. Cool you fitted some longer towers and shocks. It’s fun and bouncy stock, but when it comes to performance that’s the must-do-modification. Got the GPM ready for my Wild Dagger. Hope it won’t be less fun ☺️

Hi Nick! Cool you got the Xtreme. Such a classic WT-01. The first I think 🙂 (apart from the WR-01 4WD family members). Hope you get it up and running. Such a simple and classic Monster Truck design. Really love it. That’s why we got four ☺️
@NordicRC
@NordicRC 4 года назад
Would love to see that. What I am really looking for is an alternative servo mount. Stock is not strong enough and it breaks loose. I know a guy made a 3D printed alternative version, that sits good, but I think it requires some modification of the chassis to mount it.
@Nlangkirby135
@Nlangkirby135 4 года назад
@@NordicRC, my recommendation will be aluminum servo mounts. I found it on eBay and they are cheap, $3.99 plus $2.99 shipping and handling... although they are away due to the lunar new year.
@NordicRC
@NordicRC 4 года назад
Yeah, I’ve ordered three sets of those a couple of weeks ago. Combined with some thread lock I think they will hold up better than the soft plastic stock ones, but I still would prefer a new mounting system, properly seated, support on both sides, more like that on the DT-03.

Hi Ceaser! I get most of my Tamiya parts from Tamico and Tony’s Tamiya Parts here in Europe. The Mighty Bull is based on a WT-01 chassis so pretty much all parts for this chassis and other models based on this chassis will do.
