Ya but I think with good reason lol we got robbed. Yes we should’ve won anyway with the dime that hurts threw to watkins that he fumbled but after that it was all the refs doings
with good reason the eagles got robbed hardcore tell me does ref 92 need glasses he was looking right at dallas getting dragged down by his mask. most of me thinks the refs had money on that game with the commanders being such a underdog
I said the same thing as they were talking about it. Refs were whistling the play dead as he was being carried into the end zone. This call they got right, unlike the Greenlaw ejection.
The punt was a touchback, the defender was still moving with the ball before the ref blew the whistle trying to get as close to the end zone. Yes the ref blew the whistle which means the play is dead, however due to movement the whistle shouldn't have occurred
Coaches need to be able to challenge ANY bad field ref call. Have a senior ref in an isolation booth look at the footage. That would fix a lot of what's wrong with the NFL today.
In theory, anyway. In practice, the senior ref would probably just go along with whatever the officiating crew on the field called a majority of the time, much like it is now
You just need a video ref and rules that force a video review if there is any doubt. Give coaches a number of reviews each game to use if they need it as well like you say, but video refs and refs being able to use it would change everything for the better
Y'know what, there were actually a few calls in this video I agreed with. While I will say they typically do a horrible job, this week was more controversial than terrible. There were some tough ass calls they had to make and did well on, and a LOT of easy ones they missed. I for one wouldn't go in and analyze that last play frame by frame to see whether he was down with possession. In real time, it was reasonable to assume it was a fumble recovered by the defense. Sometimes going to replay does more damage to the integrity of the *game* than bad calls do.
The only bad call was the face mask which was missed but goedert still would have fumbled face mask or not. The graham hit was clearly a penalty. Dude had time to stop his momentum. And the other bad calls in the game balanced themselves out with both sides getting shit calls.
Bruh the Packers got fucked over harder than the Cowboys, the outcome would have been the same just with a higher score for the Packers. And it probably wouldn't have gone to OT.
5:45 one thing the rule analyst or whoever is talking didn't talk about is that the refs on the field blew a whistle before the receiver entered the endzone. Once the refs blow the whistle, the play is dead, 6:13 you can see on the slowmo that the ref on the bottom about to put his hands up / blow the whistle to stop the play before he was pushed into the endzone.
Ya I was going to mention this as well. Their reasoning doesn’t really make any sense. If he had caught it on say the 10 and just started slightly back pedaling like that to the 1 before establishing control they would mark it dead at the 10. He clearly had control at the 1 in the clip
That’s what I’ve been saying the play was dead already before he went into the end zone it’s not like you can never go in, once the play is dead it doesn’t matter where the ball carrier goes
I was confused about this being in the video as controversial. The whistle was blown, the ball was recovered at the 1 one the catch is made and he holds on to it long enough for the whistle to blow, it’s a good play. Idk what’s so controversial about it tbh
Plus, the Eagles lost Dallas Goddert , one of the best TE in the league, to a shoulder injury because of that play. You can't tell me that official did not see that face mask.
The referee's have been terrible this year so far, how come nothing is being done about this, it's ridiculous to see this happening week after week, they should be suspended and fined or replaced!
The refs are terrible, yes, but the actual quality of play has also been quite terrible, so if the play is shit, the refs should be shit as well, at least in the NFL's eyes.
I can’t speak to how it works in the NFL, but officials in the MLB have a union and a very strong one at that. It’s practically impossible to get an umpire fired for bad performance so maybe it works the same way in football
Dining a ref for a bad call is a terrible idea. They’ll strike, and you get replacement refs again. Just don’t leave it up to the refs. Simple as that. If you have to rely on a ref for a game winner, you never were a winner.
They don't call certain fouls on purpose to achieve the desired outcome. Remember the MINNEAPOLIS MIRACLE? There is more money in betting on the NFL than buying tickets or subcriptions to watch the NFL
Love the videos. Missed a 12 men on the field call on the Vikings fourth down on the half yard line. Oh and the bills were blatantly in the neutral zone on that same play.
You missed the "hands to the face" on Jaylon Johnson (Bears CB) where he only had his hands on the guy's shoulders, and the guy fell over because his knee decided to give out. It took away a key interception that would have likely put the game away for the Bears.
@@TheFurryGamer it makes me wonder why and how they pick teams to be more successful than others. Probably the economic impact/revenue it may bring to the league? Because we all know by now the entire league shares funds equally.. So there is literally no incentive to perform well because it's a profit either way.
@@CorporalGrievous93 There was no holding calls that were missed on Chicago. Muhammad easily got held on that failed 4th down conversion for Miami in the fourth. Go watch that. Tell me what plays to look at.
That call was bullshit!! Every single Packers Cowboys game ends the same... I swear these "best quarterbacks", Rogers, Brady, Allen, and others always get the calls.
The calls this year have been horrendous!!! I think the NFL needs to give teams 2 - offsite 3rd party ref call reviews per game! I can’t believe I’m saying this, but yes it’s gotten that bad!
Yes. This happens once or twice a year, normally on punts that the kicking team thinks were muffed, then they grab it at the 10 and run it in, the whole time whistles blowing. Ruling isn't downed at the first touch at the 10, but a touchback since the kicking team took the ball into the end zone. The rulebook is a cluster on this, but from what I can gather, until the ball is dead and on the ground / given to a ref, or the receiving team has possession of the ball, it's still a live kick. So if the kicking team picks it up and takes it into the end zone, it's ruled as kicked in and a touchback.
You don't have to eject people though based on a penalty for example in college if the targeting is accidental they can review it and not eject the player
Whenever a receiver completely misses the ball by 5+ yards and the defender starts celebrating like he somehow just made a big play... You instantly know that it was pass interference.
I've said it for years that there is nothing a player can do to affect a refs. pay, but bad calls can affect who goes to the playoffs etc. What a shame.
Not only was the goedert call horrible, it ended up hurting him as well, ref’s kind of plagued us that game, but we also should’ve played better so a mixture of both
1. Brandon Graham was trying to hold up before he hit Heinecke. The NFL needs to realize that these big guys can't stop on a dime when they're coming at full speed. 2. The personal foul and ejection on Greenlaw was BS. He didn't lead with the helmet and Herbert was basically tackled into him. 3. Some of these roughing the passer calls are lame. Thanks alot Goodell and Brady.
Also. 9:42 should it have been reviewed yes. Did it get reviewed no. They got the play off before the booth buzzed the officials. For whatever reason. That's just how it goes. It's the rules.
Make sure to include the chargers egregious hold on Karlaftis on the big Keenan Allen catch in the 4th quarter in your week 11 video. There's another HUGE hold on Mike Danna that has been making its rounds, but that hold on karlaftis was a BIG missed call.
What really sucks is how it's changing the way some QBs play (Mahomes). Pump-fakes used to be to get defenders to jump early or to turn a DB, now it's to get a pass rusher to pull up so the QB can run. Defenders are afraid to really go after a QB even after they start running and you just see a ton of missed tackles.
Yep, he had clearly given himself up on the play, and still got hit by two defenders. Haven't understood this whole week of people saying that was controversial.
To be fair...this video is only 14 min long. If we include EVERY bad call....and more importantly, every non-call....this video would be three hours long. This has been a DEVASTATING season and an absolute showcase of garbage officiating.
Week 10 of saying how I understand how 10% of these calls are understandable and the rest are just plain stupid... like there's been some really crucial calls where its reviewed and they still pick the wrong call....idk anymore
In the Washington/Philly game the first calls were bad but the hit on Heinicke was a legit call. The defender took at least four steps after he went down.
Ward moving him actually moved him further out of the target zone. From the ball carrier's perspective, ward moved him to the right when the other guy was aiming more left. Had Ward not interfered with the original trajectory, the helmets would have hit more directly, increasing the risk of serious injury.
Here’s a novel idea: Hold the referees accountable for bad calls. Have several officials review the game and for every horrible, awful call or any missed calls fine the referees dock em for every one and I guarantee there will be little to no bad calls…
The Jacksonville - KC thing is exactly what Tom Brady was talking about, how quarterbacking mistakes can lead to injuries and those same offensive mistakes usually (although not in the KC game) result in defensive penalties. If Mahomes threw a smarter pass there would have been no controversy, and that same sentiment holds true for any time hitting a defenseless receiver is in question. A good pass isn't going to end your receiver's season.
If they would've called him down initially, thst probably would've stood after review. There wasn't anything thst showing thst he's clearly in control of the ball when his elbow goes down. You're correct thst it was 100% the right call.
You missed at least 3 others from Bears Lions game the Okuda on Kmet for a wide open most likely a TD was called "incidental Contact" when it was as blatant as can be and at very least illegal contact 5 yrd 1st down call and there was the even more egregious DPI against a back shoulder toss to Claypool both in 4th qtr I believe
If I did my job as poorly as the refs for the Eagles/Commanders game, I'd never be allowed back again. Football is practically unwatchable with these clowns in stripes.
There's definitely over protection of the qbs but the hit on herbert was reckless. The commentators just started babbling and talked themselves into seeing the hit differently. It was reckless, it was helmet to helmet and the tackler launched too early, therefore blindly and therefore is responsible.
11:20 It's a split second even in SLO MO. what's the defender supposed to do, just phase out of existence as soon as the quarterback even thinks about throwing it???
Yeah, I was about to say the same thing. And can't really blame them if they called late hit on that one because without replay, it did look out of bounds.
@@Dp_is_Op both of those fall under the umbrella of unnecessary roughness, regardless of if they called him for the wrong thing they both lose them 15 yards.
Everyone is an absolute idiot with Greenlaw including the announcers. Even if Herbert was hit into him, Greenlaw was leading with his helmet first and that’s what initiated contact. When has anyone ever been taught to tackle with no arms around a player with their head looking straight into the grass?
